"Ebay Auction Arbitrage" by Jason James

Arbitrage is the act of purchasing a product in one market for immediate resale in another. Arbitrage can only occur when there is a disparity in prices between one market and another.

If you want to make money on ebay right now and don't have a significant amount of start-up funds, arbitrage may be your best option--at least to raise the money to purchase inventory for your ebay home business.

You can start buy scouting out other auction sites to see if there is a significant disparity in prices between those sources and ebay.

I personally suggest you start with sites like bidz.com, bid4assets.com, and www.firstgov.gov/shopping/shopping.shtml. If you can't find good prices there for the products you want to sell on ebay, you can search Google for "government auctions" and "auction sites."

You should be able to find a number of online auction sites that are significantly less-trafficked than ebay, have significantly lower fees than ebay, and subsequently have significantly less buyers than ebay.

You should then exploit this market loophole--the disparity in prices--between ebay and this market by purchasing products from your selected online auction site at low prices. You should first check prices on ebay to find out what similar items are selling for. If you can purchase at a significant discount on your selected online auction site, you should do so.

You can immediately turn around and sell these products on ebay for higher prices. You should stress the discounted prices in your auctions and pack them with highly- trafficked keywords, so that it shows up for a number of different keyword and keyphrase searches.

Some people even use this arbitrage technique exclusively with ebay auctions. They buy an item on ebay and then resell it on ebay, using one market within ebay to buy and then two or more to sell.

You can use this technique, too. Search for items up for auction on ebay in popular categories, but with poorly organized templates and bad selling strategies. Purchase these items and resell them with professional templates, better descriptions, and titles that are filled with keywords that pull visitors from multiple ebay markets.

Using this simple strategy and your skills as a professional ebay seller, you can purchase items and immediately turn them around for 200% profit. If you are currently looking for a way to bring in revenue for your ebay business, this could be a quick way to build your inventory without purchasing expensive wholesale lots.

"3 Resources that can help you decide what sells best on eBay" by Jason James

Determining what sells best on eBay may take some trial and error if you are not already stocked with merchandise or if you are unable to create your own product. What sells best on eBay for one person may not be what sells best on eBay for another.

So how can you use trial and error to discover great eBay products and/or services to auction off on eBay? Below are 3 tips of places where you can find merchandise, place it online, and then test your sales to determine what sells best on eBay for you.

1. Find items to sell at large wholesale discount stores like Costco. Places like this typically have a huge inventory of cheap items sold in bulk that you can resell on eBay. They offer such good deals on all kinds of merchandise like toys, grills, DVDs, etc. You will have unlimited new products to choose from with wholesale outlets like this in order to determine what sells best on eBay.

2. Dollar stores are probably the best way to buy cheap items and resell with little risk of loosing money when you test to find out what sells best on eBay. The quality of products sold in dollar stores range from very poor quality on up to 'diamonds in the rough'. I have seen the same products that I have purchased in a dollar store sold on eBay or at a swap meet for 10 times the original cost, not a bad profit!

3. Garage sales happen usually every weekend and there is a multitude of products that you can find to sell on eBay. What sells best on eBay from garage sales could range from antique furniture, to new or used video games, on up to old clothes.

Of course the above eBay product sources are just a few of the overall options available to you. They each are stock piled with product ideas that you can help you determine what sells best on eBay for your home based business.

"Using Drop Shippers on Ebay to Increase Profits" by Jason James

You may already be one of the thousands of Ebay business owners using online auctions to earn a living. While most people head off to work for someone else, you are living the American Dream of self-employment and making your dreams a reality. But are the long hours, dedication, and commitment adding up to the profits you hoped for when it all began? If not, you may wish to consider using drop shippers to increase those profits.

Drop Shipping Basics

Basically, drop shipping is where you sell a product for a company using online auctions or even your own website. Then, you pass along the order and the money owed for the item to the drop shippers and they process the order, package it using your company address and logo, and then ship it to your customer.

The customer never knows that anyone but you was involved in the transaction and you get to pocket the difference between your cost and that which you charged the customer. Pretty simple, right?

Drop Shippers Boost Profits

In all honesty, drop shipping and Ebay are perfect for one another. The high volume of the site and the ingenuity and tenacity of Ebay business owners help to sell a lot of products. But for people actually using auction sites like Ebay to earn a living, drop shippers are an absolute blessing because the help boost profits by increasing your productivity and efficiency.

Without drop shipping, an Ebay business owner must store, package, and ship the items they sell. Add to this the tasks of researching and buying products, responding to customer questions, and posting the items they sell to the Ebay website-and, well, it can make for a rather long day! But drop shippers take care of everything except selling the product which frees you up to find more products to sell and list them on your Ebay store.

Why spend your time on the logistical busy work when someone else will do it for you while giving you a great price in the process? The difference between wholesale and retail prices can be positively astounding with the sky being the limit as far as profits are concerned! Spend that time posting more items and finding better products instead and you will definitely see an increase in your bottom line and reduction of your stress level.

Minimal Risk

Using drop shippers carries almost zero financial risk on your part so you don't need to invest a large amount of money on something you are not familiar with. You carry no inventory and only pay the drop shippers when you yourself have been paid by a client.

Plus, few drop shippers ask members to pay a fee for selling their products. Those that do ask only a very small fee and that is probably because they know that they are really giving people a great deal by offering them the chance to buy their products at wholesale and resell them at retail. If you want to guarantee yourself a certain level of profit, simply set a minimum amount. Really, there is no down side here and everybody wins-especially you!

Drop shippers offer anyone the chance to make sound profits using Ebay auctions while at the same time taking care of the logistics involved in getting the product to the customer. Since the customer never knows that anyone else is involved in the transaction, you look great and very professional while boosting profits at the same time.

"3 Drop-Shipping Secrets For Making More Money on eBay!" by Jason James

Dropshipping is a very profitable way to make money on the auction powerhouse eBay. People all over the world are creating home based businesses by using wholesalers, or also known as dropshippers, to make money on eBay.

Dropshipping is simply selling products for wholesale companies, sending them the address of the person who bought from you, and they ship the product to them.

This is an incredible opportunity, most times for the cost of a meal at a restaurant, to start a profitable eBay business.

However, because of the ease and profitability of using a dropship company there is extensive competition. eBay abounds with people using this home based business model to create a living for themselves. So, how do you get by the rest and shine as the one to buy from? There are three distinct secrets used by prominent eBay Powersellers.

1. eBay Dropshippers Know What's HOT!

The top income producers, or Powersellers, on eBay do their homework. They find out what is selling. But, not only that they research deeper to find out what's selling at the top prices.

Let's say for example, you have set up an account with a dropship company and have started an eBay seller account. Now what? Start looking at what's selling. Computers are always hot.

Go back to your dropshipper, look up what computers they offer, get some graphics and pictures, upload them to the product listing page on eBay and you're now selling computers.

Don't waste your time on items that only sell a few times at low prices.

2. eBay Dropshippers Know A Little Copywriting

The Internet, no matter what site you're on, is all about the written word. In sales, that means copywriting. Writing in order to reach a sale.

If you look at the most successful sellers they don't simply upload a picture and a few facts about the product.

They write to sell the product. Why? It was stated at the beginning of this article that the competition is plentiful. Everyone selling on eBay wants that person to buy their product not yours. So, the emphasis on copywriting, writing to instill an emotional desire to want your product, must be a priority.

Take some time to learn a little bit about good copywriting and how to construct a short, but exciting, sales letter.

3. eBay Dropshippers Live To Follow.

The absolute key to making money on eBay, with dropshippers or any other type of business model, is to follow up with your customers. Once they buy from you, that should not be the last contact you have with them.

Follow up with them. How are they liking the product? Is there anything else you can do for them? Have they seen the other auctions you have listed similar to the product they already bought?

A great way to stay in touch with your customers is to start collecting their email addresses, with their permission, and send them a special "sales flyer" of products you have listed, or other non-listed dropship items.

Want to make it big with eBay? Want to make big money with dropshipping? Follow these three Powerselling secrets today and watch your profits climb!

"eBay: A virtual land of opportunity" by Jason James

When you first take a quick glance, the ebay opportunities website looks like this big, complicated, and confusing animal that probably takes a seasoned Internet veteran to master. But that couldn't be further from the truth. Ebay opportunities exist for all skill levels.

Of course ebay is always growing and constantly improving but regardless of these endless changes, the basics can always be found and there will always be the same old ebay opportunities for you to take advantage of as both a seller and a buyer. So why do so many people look for ebay opportunities at this website? The answer is simple; because there are more computers sold on ebay than anywhere else. There are more cars sold on ebay than anywhere else. There are more toys sold on ebay than anywhere else. Shall I go on? The list of ebay opportunities goes on and on into any market that you can think of.

Deciding on which of the ebay opportunities to take advantage of is probably the hardest step in the process. Depending on whether you are buying or selling, there are plenty of ebay opportunities available to you.

Lets take 'automotive' for example. You might think that no such ebay opportunities exist for such a commonly person-to-person transaction - wrong! In fact, there is an entire ebay category dedicated to automobiles and auto parts. Both new and used cars are hot ebay opportunities now more than ever before.

We hope that this brief description of what awaits you at ebay has you excited to look for great deals or great sales to take advantage of.

Buying items by the pallet to resell to the ebay marketplace" by Jason James

Some product suppliers will purchase salvaged merchandise that is in such large quantities that they resell the items to you by the pallet that you can take and flood the ebay marketplace with. This type of transaction is often made by a 'liquidator' and you can go online to fine one nearest you.

This may not be the most secure way to find quality products to resell to the ebay marketplace but if you are willing to take the risk then it just may be worth it. Often times you are rolling the dice when buying a pallet full of stuff because there is no guarantee of what quality is inside.

While you may loose money by selling some of those items to the ebay marketplace, you might also make that money back with other products from your pallets. The key is to make sure that the majority of stock from the liquidator has what you want to sell to the ebay marketplace. This can only be done by working with one supplier for a few rounds and properly checking them out.

Here are a few tips of things to check out when looking for a liquidator:

1. Find out if they are selling to mostly flea markets. If this is the case then you may not want to buy these pallets because the quality may not exist. The ebay marketplace is looking for both quantity and quality.

2. Find out how long the liquidator has been in business. Find out exactly where he gets his products from. If the company does not want to reveal its sources then you may not want to purchase these pallets for resell to the ebay marketplace.

3. Last but not least, check for references. This is an obvious step in deciding to work with most anybody but a lot of people ignore it.

"Selling cars and car parts on eBay" by Jason James

"The Right Wholesalers Help Your Ebay Business" by Jason James

Starting up your own Ebay business is not difficult but making it into a successful venture that can help you save towards retirement and achieve your other financial goals can be a bit more challenging. Tenacity, hard work, determination, a bit of luck, and the right wholesalers are all useful in establishing your Ebay business.

Taking the Next Step

Most people enter into the Ebay business universe by selling off some of the things they already have. This is a great idea because it allows sellers to learn the ropes of Ebay auctions while generating some revenue. But, there will always come a point when you don't have any more things from your household that you want to part with.

In order to sustain your Ebay business and grow to the next level, you are going to have to find more things to list in your online auctions. Some people decide to hit the flea market and antique store circuit in hopes of finding rare deals that they can snap up and turn a nice profit on by turning around and reselling the item through their Ebay business.

While this is indeed a viable route to take if you are selling older items or collectibles, there are some drawbacks to this approach. First, this is a time consuming and rather inefficient way to secure the merchandise you need to keep the online auctions rolling. Secondly, there are more and more people using Ebay for the same purposes as yourself so it is getting harder to make a profit using this approach because prices are being driven upward.

This is why you should consider selling new merchandise with your Ebay business. For one, you need not put in the leg work or time that you would trying to make the rounds at smaller shops. All you need to do is place an order and have a place set aside to store the merchandise until selling it.

Finding the right wholesalers can really make the difference between a successful Ebay business and one that only brings in some extra income into the household. There are people who buy dresses and clothing from wholesalers and turn around and sell them on Ebay for very substantial profits.

But to do this, you need to find wholesalers that can supply you with the quality of product you want at the cheapest prices possible. Unlike drop shippers who merely take an order and the money from a customer and pass it on to a wholesaler who turns around and ships the product directly to the customer, you have to take care of the packaging and shipping tasks. Therefore, you need to make as much profit as possible to compensate for your time and effort.

This means that you will not only have to do a lot of homework to find the absolute best deals possible, but you also have to guard the secret of your source so that others conducting their own online auctions don't undercut you. But when you find the right wholesalers-the money just starts rolling in! Just be careful what you wish for because the bigger your Ebay business becomes, the more effort and stress it takes to sustain it!

"eBay Drop Shipping is the Future" by Jason James

We all pretty much know that Ebay is this Internet phenomenon that is making billions of dollars by hosting online auctions. Basically, people post things they want to sell and buyers browse the site for the things they want to purchase. Eventually, buyers and sellers meet up and the bidding process begins. But, the Ebay business website is also a place where drop shippers come to unload their wares as well.

Drop Shipping Basics

The term has started to catch on in the mainstream but there are still a lot of people out there that don't know exactly what drop shipping actually is. Basically, drop shipping is sales. Let's say that company A sells product X. Now company A does not sell directly to the public but you can buy their products at stores around the country.

But stores, like the Ebay business machine, operate to make a profit. Therefore, they must charge more than they paid for the product in order to make their profit. So, they either buy the product X directly from the manufacturer or from a distributor at wholesale price and then turn around and sell the product at retail price. The difference between those two prices is their profit.

In drop shipping, you become the retailer. The interesting thing about drop shipping is you do not need a store or even an inventory to sell your products. With the help of the Ebay business machine, you actually don't even need a website either.

Drop Shipping Mechanics

So how exactly does drop shipping work? First of all, you find a wholesaler that is selling products you are interested in reselling to the public. After setting up an account with them, they send you product descriptions of all their products or at least those you are interested in selling. If you do not have a website, you can post these product descriptions on the Ebay business website.

When a customer decides to buy one of your great products, they place an order and send their payment (including shipping costs) to you via credit card. You pass this order along to the wholesaler along with your payment.

The great thing about being a drop shipper is that this is where your involvement ends! The wholesaler then processes the order and then ships the product directly to your customer-but with your company name on the packaging! The customer never knows that they are actually receiving the product from a wholesaler and you are pocketing the difference between the wholesale and retail price! Could it possibly be any simpler?

By using Ebay to advertise your products and benefiting from their incredible traffic flow, you are really reaping the whirlwind at almost no cost and with very little effort. And since retail price is roughly double that of wholesale, just imagine the profits you can make drop shipping! No store to maintain, no inventory to worry about, and no large investment of money-this, friends, is the miracle of drop shipping and why it is definitely the future! There are literally thousands of companies looking for people to sell their products so there are opportunities everywhere right now! By using Ebay, you could literally be selling products within a day and making huge profits so don't delay-start your drop shipping business today!

"5 Secrets To Make A Killing on eBay" by Jason James

Secret #1: Find a "real" wholesale and drop ship company

Do you know what one of the biggest problem is to be successful on eBay? "What should I sell?" I can tell you, I get many emails per day from eBay sellers, asking me what they can sell. Let me explain this more in detail.

Let's take John and David for example. Both are sellers and try to make money on eBay. Let's start with John. He mainly gets his items from garage sales. So, every Saturday morning he gets up very early, hops into his car and drives around the neighbourhood to check out the garage sales. So he went last Saturday. John did not buy anything on the first two garage sales, but on his third garage sale, he found a little treasure. An old book from 1897 - for a bargain price of $10. Bingo! John was proud! "I can sell this for huge profit', he thought and he went home. He took his digital camera and he made a high quality digital photo. It took quite some time but finally he was happy with the result. Then he had to upload this picture to his computer and he spent some time writing the sales copy. Late Saturday afternoon finally he was finished and launched this book onto eBay. 7-10 days later his item got sold for $75!! John is excited. He packs the item, labels it with the buyers address and then he drives to the nearest post office. Oh no, what a long line. After 15 min of waiting he could finally post this item to his customer! Wow, a lot of work for $65 profit? Don't you think?

Let's look at David. He usually gets up very late - usually at Saturday around lunchtime. He is still in his pyjamas and he makes himself a nice cup of coffee and gets onto the Internet. He logs into his drop ship account and browses through some hot selling product. "Yes, I can sell that" - A nice laptop for a bargain price of $550 (wholesale price). But David does not have to pay upfront for this item, so he just downloads the professional digital photos offered by his drop ship company to his computer. "Oh wait"; David has just discovered that this drop ship company has also a "ready-to-use" auction sales letter available. That's really cool ...and David copies and pastes the source code of this letter into his eBay listing and he launches his auction. A Dutch auction, since the drop ship company announced that they have more than one of this laptop currently available. Great, David could sell 6 laptops. He hits the submit button for this Dutch auction of 6 laptops and enjoys his coffee (which is still hot by the way). After 7-10 days David has sold all 6 laptops for $830 each. All what David does is the following: He waits until he gets the payment from his 6 customers in his paypal account, sends the address of the customers together with 6 x $550 (wholesale price) to his drop sip company via paypal. He has made pure profit of 6 x $280 = $1,680 in about 25 min of work - total. That's why David is a smarter eBay seller than John. I think the idea is clear ...drop shipping can be the answer to your problem what to sell on eBay and it can saves you a lot of time too. No packing, posting etc.

Secret #2: Have a professional auction listing

A professional eBay auction site is like your business card. If you are serious selling on eBay you should show your potential customers that you are a professional seller and that you are selling high quality products. Please, don't just upload a photo and type the text in the description box. Do your homework and learn some HTML. Look around there are many professional tutorials and ebooks around helping you in that matter. It's definitely worth it. And you'll be surprised, because if your auction listing looks nice and professional potential buyers stay longer on your site and usually it's more likely that they place a bid.

Secret #3: The money is in the follow up

"Yes, I've heard this before", you may say. But, this is a very important aspect of your successful eBay career: Follow up with your customers. Send them an email ~10 days after they have purchased the product and ask them how they are going with the product and if everything is all right. Invite them to have a look at your other auctions. (You have to be careful though not offending anyone, but if the products are related and you ask how they went with the product, that's fine). I never got complaints by doing that and your customers are happy to get some "insider tips". You'll be amazed how many customers will buy from you again, since they value you as a seller. Keep in mind that it is easier to keep an existing customer, instead of getting a new customer. You could also send them a thank you gift in form of a downloadable digital information product. That's easy for you and they get some valuable information. You'll see that your existing customers will be very thankful and they feel good that they have bought from you and will do again in the future.

Secret #4: Sell internationally

This aspect is often neglected by many eBay sellers: Sell internationally! First, check with your drop ship company in which countries they are shipping and how much postage they charge to send the item overseas. If you have sort out these details, you can go ahead and list your item internationally. You'll be surprised how many more items you are selling when the potential buyers see: Ship worldwide. Don't miss this opportunity or you are leaving big bucks on the table.

Secret #5: Be creative - Be different

How do you think your listing will be stand out from the crowd? Good question isn't it. In my 4 years of being an active Power Seller, I have tried and tested a lot. First have the photo in the gallery; it just costs a bit more to list but these additional cents are well spend. A recent study has shown that people almost ignore listing without a picture in the gallery. So that's mandatory! The next step is your title. Do you know that only the title is spidered by eBay when potential customers are searching for specific products? So, you have to make sure that your title includes as much keywords as possible. But be careful here, eBay does not like "keyword stuffing". So, be creative and come up with 2-3 different titles for the same item. Try them all and you'll see what works best.

"5 Ways To Drive Traffic Away From Your eBay Auction" by Jason James

eBay is a one-stop solution to any one who wants to make money online. Whether you just selling a few unwanted items from around your house or your want to develop a work from home business, eBay removes many of the obstacles for you. Not many other websites can help you drive targeted traffic towards your sales, process the order on your behalf and accept payment though paypal. All you need to do then is dispatch the item to your winning bidder.

And let's not forget the biggest advantage over selling on eBay. The majority of users have money in their hand just waiting to find the right item.

So if eBays so great why would you want to drive traffic AWAY from your auctions?

Well there are a few reasons why you'd be better off selling from your own website, rather than though eBay. Firstly & most importantly, think of all the listing fees & final value fees you could save if everything you sold on eBay you could sell on your own website. Personally it would save me thousands of dollars per year alone in listing fees.

Secondly, you'll be protecting yourself from eBay policy change. Imagine you were selling thousands of ebooks weekly and then suddenly eBay policy changed to prevent any ebook listings.

Overnight your business would simply disappear & your income would vanish. It's the same with listing fees - A sudden hike in fees could wipe out your business & profit overnight.

With any business, especially an online one you need to safeguard yourself against measures that are out of your control. So by driving traffic away from your auctions to your own website you'll slowly start building up an alternative source of revenue. The following methods can be used on eBay. Some are on the borderline of eBay policy & you should check out any policy violation before using them. Saying that, a huge proportion of sellers use these on a daily basis.

1) Image Hosting

All the best sellers have auction templates developed to maintain a professional listing. And of course those sellers ALWAYS use images or graphics to accurately show the condition of the items their offering.

eBay itself allows you to upload the images to their servers, other commercial & free services are available. However really you want to store any images on your own server. Not only will search engine robots follow the links from your listings to your site (helping in improved visibility in any search engines), but many browsers will show the address of where the images are loading from in the status bar - For instance "Loading Image From http://www.visitmyshop.com" or "Waiting For http://www.visitmyshop.com". This is a great way for your visitors to see to become familiar with your site.

2) Feedback

Many sellers include their own website in the feedback comments they use. Strictly it is against eBay policy but many Powersellers use comments like "Thanks for your custom from http://www.Visitmyshop.com" as standard. This is perhaps one of the widely violated policies on eBay. I've never known of anyone receive a warning for this policy, but use it with caution as you could be the first.

3) Email Address.

eBay allows your listings to contain one email link address, in addition to the "Ask The Seller A Question Link" they already provide. Use the opportunity to show the an email account associated with your domain name for example sales@visitmyshop.com. The only condition about showing your email address is the one shown must also be your registered email account with eBay. Before you list it, make sure they match up.

4) About Me Page

eBay actually allows you to link to your own website from your About Me page, as long as the actual page does not directly offer to sell items. Therefore make it an information or about us page that you link to, BUT one where visitors can easily navigate to your catalog of items for sale. Additionally drive traffic to your About Me Page by including a link on every listings, for example "Click here to learn about me". An average basic shop on eBay will get over 1500 item views within a month. If you can drive just a small proportion of these to your about me page & then to your site you'll certainly see a difference in your non-eBay sales.

5) User Id

While eBay does not allow your user id to be that of an website, you should have it as closely to resembling your site name as possible. You CAN NOT attach .com, -com or *com to the end of your user id - this is strictly against eBay policy. However nothing would stop your id being VisitMyShop. The idea is to get your eBay visitors comfortable with dealing with you away from eBay.

I hope these tips help you drive traffic away from your auctions towards your site & lessens eBays grip on your business. Remember, Ignorance is not an excuse eBay accept if you do violate their policy. While you initially get a warning for policy violation continuous offences may result in your account being suspended. Having said that, eBay mostly rely on policing from other users to enforce their policy so as long as no reports you should be in the clear.

Good luck with your eBay activity.

"Drop Shippers Can Make a Fortune on Ebay" by Jason James

Drop shipping has become the latest craze in business and is helping to drive the latest surge of new websites being created today. Drop shippers are creating multiple websites selling numerous product lines and making a fortune in the process. Just type any product you can think of into a search engine and just look at how many pages of websites come up-and most of them are drop shipping companies selling their wares!

Drop Shipping Benefits

The reason why drop shipping has become so popular and exploded so suddenly is that it is simply the most efficient way to sell retail goods. People surfing the web find a site selling a product they want and then make a purchase. The website owner (drop shipper) then passes that order along to their wholesaler along with payment and shipping costs.

From there, the wholesaler processes the order, packages the product with the website owner's business name on the packaging, and ships it directly to the customer. The website owner bought the product at wholesale price and then sold it to the customer for whatever price they thought they could charge, and profited from the difference. It really is pure genius!

But, there is more to this than you think and the beauty of drop shipping gets even better! First of all, there is virtually no overhead because there is no store to operate (or employees to pay!) or any inventory to maintain. Stores like Wal-Mart may get better wholesale prices because they buy in such large quantities, but they still do not make as much profit on each item as a drop shipper due to the costs of operating their stores.

Drop Shipping with Ebay

Although websites are definitely cheaper to create and operate than a conventional retail store, they still can require a fairly sizeable investment of time and money. Between paying for servers and either creating or paying for content, websites can definitely eat up some time and money. But, this is where Ebay comes in.

For a small fee, you can post your wares on Ebay and benefit from the millions and millions of people who surf the site every year. This way, you never have to worry about maintaining any website and you can start selling products within a day or two.

Due to the incredible traffic on Ebay, it is definitely possible to make a fortune by drop shipping from the site. If you just think of the Ebay fee as a business expense, there really is no downside to the arrangement and it can definitely be more profitable than operating your own site and worrying about getting people to visit your site.

While some people may not like the idea of depending upon Ebay for their business, the fact remains that drop shippers can substantially benefit from the partnership. Due to the incredibly low operational costs of drop shipping, the Ebay fee is a very small price to pay for the convenience and high traffic offered by the site. If you are thinking about going into drop shipping but are not crazy about the idea of creating and operating your own website, consider posting from Ebay because the benefits far outweigh the small fee charged by the site.

"Ebay Selling Can Net You Serious Part-Time Income" by Jason James

No one really knows just how big this Ebay business could actually become because it continues to grow at a mind boggling rate with no apparent end in sight. Over a billion dollars of merchandise is sold every month and that figure just continues to grow. While you might not be interesting in using online auctions to provide your sole source of income, you may want to consider Ebay selling as means of creating viable part-time income that can really add up over the course of a year.

Endless Possibilities

While Ebay continues to diversify its services and allow customers more and more options, online auctions remain the heart and soul of their business. If you are just interested in using Ebay selling to generate part-time income without the hassles of working for other people, then Ebay auctions are for you.

One of the reasons why Ebay is such a popular means of generating part-time income for so many people is because it takes so little investment and time to get started. If you have a computer and Internet access along with either a digital camera or access to a picture of the item you are selling-well, you basically have all you need to get started!

Of course you will also need to register with Ebay before the fun begins. For this all you really need is a checking account, a credit card, and a few minutes to sign-up. It is not impossible to register on Monday and begin selling items on Tuesday. Really, it is just that simple!

To begin with and for a better idea of how to navigate and use the site, most people opt to search their homes for things to list on Ebay auctions. Frankly, the sky is basically the limit with respect to what you can choose to list because Ebay selling is a pretty wide open field. Of course, Ebay does ban some items from being sold so be sure check out their website for a listing of unacceptable items.

For people who love to go antiquing and spend their weekends scouring flea markets for the best deals, making substantial part-time income is no problem at all. This is especially true for people who really know how to spot a quality item at a great price. It is nothing to buy something on a weekend and turn around and sell it for double the price they paid for it (or more!).

If you are creative and like crafts or painting pictures, Ebay selling can be a great way to get started in a field you have always dreamed of working in while making money in the process. An Ebay store can be an excellent way to turn your hobbies and passions into cold hard cash and perhaps even build your reputation.

Honestly, the list of possibilities could literally go on forever it seems because Ebay auctions offer people the chance to earn part-time income in any number of ways. The start up costs are minimal and so are the risks. Just be sure to use accurate descriptions and answer all questions promptly and your part-time income potential is limitless with Ebay auctions!

"8 Imaging mistakes to avoid when uploading your Ebay auction photo" by Jason James

It is no secret that having professional looking photos that are upscale in quality will help create more Ebay auction sales and attract higher bid buyers. Each and every product that you sell on Ebay, even it you are promoting a service, should have a photo cropped and fit to please the eye.

As much of a positive impact that a decent photo has on your business, the exact opposite will come into effect if you display a distasteful photo of poor quality on your auction. Even if your product is sound and your service is top notch this still may never matter if your Ebay photo creates an illusion of poor quality in the buyers eyes.

In order create good Ebay product photos then be sure to stay clear from these common mistakes that are made my Ebay sellers when creating their digital photo for the auction:

1. Glare: Along the lines of poor lighting, glare is the result of improper flash usage. Try not to take your pictures head on when wanting beautiful photos for your Ebay auction. Try instead to shoot the product from an angle. Such angles are from the left, from the right, or even from the top of the project. Coming from an under angle also works for photos for your Ebay auctions.

2. Cropping: Have you seen those Ebay auction pictures that have the item in the middle of all of the background distractions? Now that is very annoying to those viewing your Ebay auction. You should crop everything that you take a photo for. Nobody wants to see your messy bedroom or the garage where you took the picture at and it may detour many from looking further into your Ebay auction. Keep all distractions out of your Ebay photo by cropping everything but the product. Trust me, your Ebay auction will thank you for it in sales.

3. Background: Having a fancy background like countertop designs or table garnishes only distract from your Ebay auction product. Sure this may seem like something pleasant to do but this mistake is very similar to not cropping properly in that it may make your Ebay auction customer loose focus on what you are selling.

4. Fuzzy images: If your Ebay auction images are fuzzy and blurry to view then all you are telling the customer is that you do not have any consideration for detail and quality. This lack of preparation with your Ebay photos will give the customer a perception that you may just treat your products and customer service with the same lack of attention. You have one chance with your Ebay auction so be sure to check the focus before you snap the photo and use a tripod if necessary to avoid blur.

5. Lighting quality: Do not deplete the value of your Ebay auction by having dim lighting for your product photo. On the other hand, too much lighting can also create a very bad picture in the customers mind as they are viewing your Ebay auction. You should take several snapshots of the product to view each photo for lighting problems. Then begin your cropping.

6. Close up shots: There are some Ebay auction items that are so small and need a closer look by the customer. Do you have these close up photos in your Ebay auction? I strongly suggest that you do not make the mistake of selling something like jewelry but not including up close photos. Your camera should have a zoom feature which can take very close shots of the item with total accuracy.

7. Avoid reflective surfaces: This mistake that happens to many Ebay auction photos falls into the categories of poor lighting and blurry images. Light issues can really make or break your Ebay sales if not attended to and reflective light can do the same damage. Be sure to remove any shiny objects from the background from the site where you are taking your Ebay Auction photo to avoid this distraction.

8. Confusing combo shots: Do not take pictures and post multiple items within the same block that your main item is for sale is located. This will create confusion from the buyer and will prevent your Ebay auction from making the sales that you want. Customers have one thing in mind and the only product that you should be posting is of a picture of the main single item.

"The Basics of How To Sell on Ebay" by Jason James

The star that is Ebay continues to rise with its ultimate height and potential reach still unknown. What is known is that over $14 billion dollars worth of merchandise changed hands last year with more expected this year. More and more people are joining in the Ebay craze in hopes of making huge profits working for themselves. Learning the basics of how to sell on Ebay is simple and just about anyone can profit from the miracle of online auctions.

Getting Started

With millions of visitors every month, the Ebay business machine continues to be an incredible opportunity for people to go into business for themselves and succeed with very little start up capital. Essentially, all anyone needs to start selling items using their own Ebay business are: a computer with Internet access, a digital camera, and…well, something to sell!

Learning how to sell on Ebay begins with familiarizing yourself with the site by actually getting your feet wet and selling something. To do this, you will first have to register with Ebay. You will need a credit card, a checking account, and a few minutes to do this.

Listing Your Wares

Most people begin their Ebay business slowly by first selling items around the house. Once you have scoured your home in search of antiques, collectibles, or even clothing that you are no longer interested in or just want to sell, you have to list your item because online auctions just would not be as interesting without something for people to bid on!

In order to do this, you will need a product description and a photo of the item(s) being sold. This description needs to be accurate while still casting your product in the best light possible. Misrepresenting your item can cut your Ebay business experience short because customer feedback is listed for all to see. One or two really scathing reviews, especially in the beginning, can kill your chances of selling things on Ebay auctions in the future.

You are also going to need a picture of your item because this will be the only way for a potential buyer to have an idea about what they are bidding on other than your description. Be sure to capture the true essence of the item with this picture because you will get negative feedback for sure if people think they were conned by some slickster with a digital camera taking pictures that do not really represent the item being sold.

Monitor Bidding

Obviously, learning how to sell on Ebay means mastering the bidding process itself. You will need to determine whether or not to set a minimum bid amount or even to opt for something like the "Buy Now" option which allows people to buy an item at a listed price without going through the bidding process.

Regardless of what option you choose when auction selling, you will have to be available for questions that customers have about your item. Respond to these as quickly as possible and try to provide the most useful information you can while still answering their questions.

Conclude Transaction

After the bidding has ended it is time to collect your money and ship the item to the customer. Be sure to have posted sales policies and payment options so that customers know what they are getting into when bidding on your items. People are naturally a little skeptical of online auctions anyway because they are bidding on something that they cannot see or touch. You do not want to surprise them with high shipping costs or complicated payment options.

You may want to include a little note or even a flyer about your business to help cultivate good will with the buyer. Remember, positive feedback is critical to the success of any Ebay business and yours will be no exception. Once you run of out things to sell from your own household, it is time to take your Ebay store to the next level by locating more items to sell so you can keep those profits rolling in!

"How Do Online Auctions Actually Work?" by Jason James

In the past few years, online auctions have really become a popular way for people around the world to buy and sell goods. Now I am not just talking about coins, figurines, or other collectibles. In fact, collectibles only ranked sixth in 2004 for all items sold on Ebay with a total value of $2.2 billion dollars worth of sales. But, perhaps surprising to some you just as it was to me, automobiles actually ranked first in sales on Ebay last year with over $11 billion generated through the online auctions hosted by the company.

Yes, the Ebay business machine just keeps growing every year and now you finally want to learn how to sell some of the things lying around your home to make some of that money that seems to be changing hands like gold through all the auction selling. Well my friend, it is about time because online auctions are a simple and convenient way to make real money from home and have fun in the process!

How Basic Online Auctions Operate

The Ebay business machine has grown and evolved over the years so that there are now several different methods to post and sell merchandise. The most basic ebay auctions operate very similarly to a real auction.

The seller first must register and then write a description of the product being sold. Although some copy writing is helpful, a little practice and some homework are all you need to have a basic idea of how to describe your product. Then, you set a price that you want the bidding to start at and designate a time limit as to how long you intend to allow people to bid on your posted merchandise. Then, when time runs out, you must sell your product to the highest bidder. Doesn't really seem that hard to make money on Ebay, does it?

Online Auctions with Reserve Price

There is certainly no one out here that wants their Ebay business venture to end in failure which is precisely why some people opt for the "Reserve Price" option. This "reserve price" is the minimum amount of money that you will take for whatever it is you are trying to sell via the online auctions.

No one can actually see the reserve price except for you so you still get the main benefit of online auctions which is to get people to bid against one another for your product while driving the price upwards. But, for ebay auctions having this reserve price set, the product will not go to the highest bidder unless they have a bid that is equal to or higher than your minimum price. This is a particularly good option for higher end or specialty products to protect you from low-ball bidding and losing a bunch of money.

Online Auctions Using "Buy It Now" Option

Now if you are impatient, need to sell something immediately, or are offering something that might sell better with a fixed price, you can choose the "buy it now" option when posting your merchandise. This allows buyers to purchase your product immediately for a fixed price without going through the trouble of monitoring the bids and waiting for the time limit to expire.

For those of you thinking that online auctions are a mere fad, guess again. With access to a global marketplace and more people than ever using the Internet to buy the things they want and need, online auctions are only going to increase in popularity in the coming years. Auction selling is the best and fairest way to get the best price for anything being sold. Plus, if you play your cards right and are savvy enough, you might just be able to quit that day job and start making money from home selling things you love to people that want your goods!

"Using the Ebay search tool to see if a product will make money on Ebay" by Jason James

That is the question that thousands are asking me every week. My email is also flooded with questions like: How do I start an Ebay store to make money on Ebay? What should I start selling on Ebay? Is there an affiliate program that will help me make money on Ebay? The list goes on and on.

The one question that we are going to cover today and one that you should pay attention to is "I have a product but what is the best way to evaluate the product and find out how I should price it so that I can make money on Ebay?"

I have two words for you: Search Engine. No I'm not talking about Google, Yahoo, or any other of the major search engines. I'm talking about a search feature that is literally under your nose at this very moment. I'm talking about the Ebay Search Tool!

Did you realize that the Ebay search tools is the fastest and most accurate way to finding out if people are buying products like yours on Ebay? You will also be pleased to know that you can discover what sells best so that you can make money on Ebay and how to accurately price your products so they sell like hot cakes!

Using the Ebay search tool to make money on Ebay

Be sure to search the 'completed auctions' to find out how similar products like yours have been selling. The results that you will find here will also help you determine which categories to list your item in. Anone can make money on Ebay but you want you do not want to be just 'anybody'

Each item sold on Ebay has a particular type of buyer that shops for that item. If you were looking to buy paperback books on Ebay then you obviously would not be searching under the category of televisions, right? This line of thinking will help you better profile buyers and after you have analyzed their shopping patters by studying the completed auctions section of the Ebay search tool then you will better be able to become a 'power seller' to make money on Ebay.

Hot Tip: Use this completed feature to find out what 'time of day' that the high bidders snagged the sale and won. Are you getting the idea yet? Good, let's continue...

Most of the time new sellers like to jump in and make money on Ebay by selling a very common product. That is ok but you still need to do your homework. What kind of homework? Well for example you definitely want to check and find out how many other Ebay sellers are pushing the same product. In conjunction with this information write down what time their auctions close. If you you are the second or third auction to close with the exact same price then your profits will shrink to nothing, trust me.

Hot Tip: Space out your auctions that are similar to others to avoid being left in the cold.

Although it is not necessary now, it is advisable for you to learn the the Ebay search engine 'syntax' (shorthand) so that you will be able to location your items with precise accuracy. Of course you can make money on Ebay by by just finding your way around using the small search box that shows on each page, but eventually you will need to learn more. And, if you are really new to using the Ebay search features then by all means simply go to the search page.

5 parting tips

Last but certainly not least, I am going to leave you with a brief list of tips below which will help you get as much as you can from the Ebay Search Engine in order to help you make money on Ebay.

1. To better define your search be sure to check off the boxes next to 'search titles and descriptions' options

2. Do not worry about using caps when using the Ebay search engine. It is not case sensitive.

3. Using conjunctions and articles are not advisable when typing in your listing. The Ebay search tool may consider these conjunctions/articles (a,or,an,the, etc.) as part of your search and pull irrelevant listings.

4. When searching for a popular item then it is advisable to search by the full 'description' and not by auction titles and descriptions alone.

5. If you are interested in finding the history of pricing for an item then make sure that you check off the box to search the completed listings in addition to the current ones.

"Hot eBay Business Ideas" by Jason James

Got a PC hooked up on the net? How about a hot drive and a life-long dream to earn big? But you don't have any technical know-how?

It's time to earn big, with your computer, with just a partial of your time you will be earning the big bucks you've been dreaming of in no time. How? Through eBay!

eBay is the premiere online business portal even newbies can use, with a minimal tech-savvy, who can resist the lure of setting up a business in this popular e-market. Most of us dream of hitting it big time with not much tedious effort.

To make that dream a step closer, if not in-your-face, to reality, here are some top business ideas you could start with the help of eBay.

Selling Business

This is one of the most popular ways to do it big through eBay. Online auctions make this business more than just another ordinary online selling gig. As long as you know and employ the proper advertising techniques, selling on eBay will not be much of a hard task for you to do. Things to sell that often make it big in ebay include the following:

- new or used baby clothes
- arts and crafts supplies
- cleaning products
- sports and designer clothes
- coins
- collectibles
- computer software
- health and beauty supplies
- costumes
- e-books
- jewelry
- pet supplies
- hobby supplies
- accessories
- toys

Consignment Selling Business

With this business you don't have to risk much since your only investment is just your time. One could sell antiques, books or e-books, collectibles, anything that could be offered through consignment. You can sell other people's antiques and collectibles on eBay and after you collect the money from the buyers pay the consignors for the items. Of course, the money comes from keeping a percentage of the selling price. This is one easy way to earn from an eBay business if you have the resourcefulness and drive to look for those people who would like to avail your consignment services.

Affliliate Programs

If you have a domain, affiliate programs are applicable to a means to do well with the help of eBay. Some marketers offer advertise their affiliate programs through eBay. What you have to do is attach a code or a link to their site or host a banner and voila! They pay you a percentage for the sales you generated through your site.

eBay forums

Putting up an eBay forum is also one way to do it. However, you need to be an expert when it comes to manning any eBay business before you could successfully put up one. This is because your forum's member will be looking for genuine information regarding these businesses and if you have none to offer, this will not be one good idea. When you get to attain a solid number of members, you can offer paid membership to access a restricted members-only area. This way you don't only earn, you also make people learn through your forum.

However, you can't just jump in the bandwagon of eBay entrepreneurs. Doing your homework well will make you more assured that you will be successful on any of your eBay ventures. Also, acquiring the right tools and knowing how to make use of them proves to be helpful, too. Payment terms should not be overlooked either to ensure the smooth flow of your eBay business.

"Can You Really Make Money Selling on Ebay?" by Jason James

Most of us have heard about the phenomenon known as Ebay which promotes those online auctions that attract bidders from the world over for just about anything imaginable. This auction selling has reached a fever pitch and the Ebay business machine just keeps growing and growing. Selling on Ebay has went from an Internet novelty to becoming one of the fastest growing companies in the world with tens of millions of people visiting and using the site each year.

But can people like you and I really make any real money selling on Ebay? I mean, we only have so much stuff! At some point we are going to run out of things to place for auction selling and then we will have to buy new things to sell on Ebay. Selling our things on Ebay may be a great way to make a few bucks on things we don't need any longer, but it can hardly be considered a real job that we could do day in and day out for money to pay bills with... right?

Ebay Trading Assistants

While there may be almost a billion people wired into the Internet, some are definitely more computer savvy than others. For these people and for countless others who plain just do not have the time to post their valuables on Ebay, this is precisely where Trading Assistants come in. Basically, Trading Assistants make money on Ebay by selling on Ebay things that do not belong to them.

By charging an agreed upon fee for all of the work involved in getting items posted in the online auctions held by Ebay, Trading Assistants help other people make money off of their old things while making some money for themselves in the process. It's a win-win scenario! By becoming a Trading Assistant in the worldwide Ebay business machine, you are registered in a directory with over 50,000 others just like you that people can look up and contact when needing someone to help them sell their wares through electronic auction selling.

Trading Assistant Requirements

Never forget that selling on Ebay is a privilege and not a right. Likewise, not just anyone can become a Trading Assistant and make money on Ebay by selling other people's things. There are some conditions that you have to meet in order to qualify for the Trading Assistant status.

First, you must have sold at least 4 items in the past thirty days. Second, your feedback rating must be 50 or higher with 97% of it being positive. Finally, your account must be in good standing before you can make money on Ebay by selling other people's things.

Selling on Ebay has indeed become a worldwide phenomenon. While you can definitely make money on Ebay by selling your own possessions, becoming a Trading Assistant is a way to make online auctions your stock in trade. Why not make money from the privacy of your own home doing something you enjoy? Ebay offers assistance to help newcomers get started and to date there is no fee but the company does reserve the right to change that policy-so don't delay! Start selling on Ebay and then sign up for the Trading Assistant program so you can make money on Ebay all year round by selling other people's things!

"Top 10 Tips To Selling Successfully on eBay" by Jason James

As a successful powerseller on eBay I often get turned to for advice. Since I registered on eBay in 2000, I've ran thousands of profitable auctions which I follow these guidelines. Most importantly always try to be fair with other users who deal with you and never be intimidated by any competition. eBays big enough for us all, and currently there is 1 seller registered to 78 buyers.

1) Low starting Price

Before you list your auction, ask yourself what's the lowest amount you'd be prepared to accept for your item. A low starting price will attract more bids and at a quicker pace - usually within the first day of the listings. Research shows that a .99c starting price will get you bidders within a few hours. Many vehicles and high value items are sold with a low starting price especially by established powersellers - because unless it's an extremely poor week the item will normally end up with hundreds of bids & at a cost that's acceptable to the seller.

Additionally users are more likely to view auctions which already have a successful bid as it generates interest in your item. It's like if you see a market stall with hundreds of people standing around it - your curiosity would tell you to stop & see what's generating all the interest. Use human curiosity to your advantage.

2) No Reserve

Many sellers still place reserve prices on their item. A reserve price is one which unless it is met by your sellers you are not obliged to sell the item. An example would be if you have an reserve of $10, and your item sells for $9.00 you do not have to complete the sale & release the item. Reserve items, although very occasionally may be necessary in the case of extremely high value items or businesses for sale are off putting to bidders. Why would you bid on an item with a reserve price on, unless you already knew were aware of what the reserve was. Personally I'd look for alternative items without a reserve price.

eBay has already removed the Reserve Price option from some of it's site in a move that is largely welcome by the majority of users. It could be a sign that this policy change will be extended to all of it's sites.

3) Images

An Image is worth a thousand words. Take photos of your item to clearly show the condition of it, and any damage or unusual aspects of it. eBay allows you to include one photo free of charge & if you use your own image hosting service you can easily include as many photos as necessary to show your item in a detailed manner. Many powersellers use up to 20 photos for one single item. Ask yourself how many are necessary for your item. & also consider using the gallery option so the image will appear within the search listings.

4) Cross-Promotion

You've worked hard to get users to view your listing, so while their viewing it also include a link to any other items you've available. This is allowed in addition to the already provided link to "View other sellers items". You can use commercial services (such as Anadale) to include images & descriptions of your other items.

5) About Me Page

Sell yourself on your About Me Page. This is your chance to establish some credibility for yourself. The biggest reason people will not buy from you online is because you have failed to establish any credibility for yourself. So include details about you & your business. Where are you suituated?, how long have you been registered on eBay?, What do you specialise in? If your a high volume seller you may also want to include a photo of yourself. Have a look at other About Me pages to see what works and what doesn't.

6) Return Policy

Nothing gives buyers greater confidence than knowing that they can return the product if it's not for them. So consider drafting yourself a returns policy.

Will you accept returns? What if the item arrives faulty? How long is the policy valid for?

It may seem like a big risk to offer such a policy knowing that you'll have to incur a cost relisting & reshipping items but only a very small amount of users will return the items.

7) Feedback

Leave feedback for the winning bidder as soon as the item is paid for. Some sellers like to protect themselves by only returning feedback when it is left for you. I consider this unprofessional and your bidders will most likely think the same too. Don't be scared of getting a negative or neutral comment on your feedback record. The majority of users will consider all of you feedback before bidding, not just looking at one or two comments.

Additionally if you deserve any feedback left for you such as if you were late shipping, accept it was you fault. Don't be too worried about admitting it with an apology in response to your feedback. You may also want to compensate your winning bidder with reduced postage or a bonus item to show it was a genuine error on your part.

If you know the there is going to be a delay in completing any transaction, email the bidder and inform them. Apologize with a comment such as "This is a rare incident that's completely out of my control. I hope by looking at my feedback record you will see this is an completely isolated incident". Always try to keep on good terms with all your buyers.

8) Instant attention

Give immediate attention to your bidders & prospective bidders. Don't leave a delay of days before responding to any emails or phone calls. And following a successful transaction you may want to email your bidder to tell them when the items been shipped and when it will be expected to arrive.

I know many sellers, some of them powersellers who takes days to respond to a simple email. If you don't have time to respond immediately consider delegating the responsibility to someone else who can respond on your behalf. Never give any bidder reason to doubt whether your a genuine seller or not.

9) eBay Store

Opening an eBay Store is a necessary step for anyone medium sized seller. Not only do you benefit from cheaper & longer listings within your shop, but you can also cross-promote your products easily, send out newsletters and establish a trusted brand for your listings easier. Also you'll gain more coverage (& hopefully bids) for your listings by appearing in the eBay store directory.

10) Shipping

Don't be tempted to over price your shipping costs and try to make a small profit on this. Firstly you can be found out to easily, & it's one of the most unforgiving things for a seller to do. More importantly over pricing your shipping costs is against eBay policy.

If your offering digital goods such as an eBook or special report, you may consider a small handling fee to cover your time and administration costs. If you do make sure it's fair and clearly highlighted within the item listing. The last thing a bidder wants to do is find out there are unexpected costs associated with a purchase they've made.

Good luck with your eBay selling activity.

"How To Use Feedback On Ebay" by Jason James

As an Internet savvy ebay business owner, you have undoubtedly had a friend or family member come to you at some point to ask whether or not it was okay to purchase from a certain Internet business. You might have found this humorous. As someone who regularly makes sales and payments online, you aren't even remotely afraid of being scammed. If something is a scam, you can spot it from a mile away.

However, to people who are considerably less experienced-- perhaps members of your family or your friends--this is a serious obstacle to shopping online regularly. They will probably think twice and consult a friend before buying anything.

This is why ebay's feedback system must be a crucial part of your strategy as an ebay seller: it gives people the unique opportunity to hear what ebay buyers had to say about your products and service.

If potential customers see anything sketchy, you can bet they will hit the 'back' button and shop somewhere else.

On the contrary, if they see dozens of positive responses from your customers, you will immediately gain their trust as a professional ebay seller.

Luckily for you, keeping your feedback record positive is relatively easy if you adhere to the following rules:

1. Avoid posting negative feedback at all costs.

If you encounter a negligent buyer, do everything in your power before leaving negative feedback. Most disputes on ebay revolve around miscommunication, so make an effort to resolve communicate clearly with the buyer. Even if they still wont respond positively, you are better off leaving no feedback at all than leaving negative feedback, which can prompt retaliatory negative feedback.

2. Create feedback rules (written or unwritten) and follow them consistently.

Many ebay sellers have a written feedback policy. They will only leave feedback after the buyer pays and leaves feedback. If a buyer knows upfront that he has to leave feedback to get feedback, he will be more likely to give you feedback after the transaction (provided he cares about his feedback rating).

Not only will this get you more responses, but it will give you more control over feedback. If the buyer gives you negative feedback, you can use your future feedback opportunity to bargain a withdrawal. Some ebay sellers use an unwritten policy. As soon as payment clears, they respond with positive feedback. When the customer sees positive feedback from the seller, they have a higher chance of posting positive feedback in response, even if they haven't received the item yet.

3. Communicate clearly with the buyer.

As I mentioned above, the majority of problems on ebay are caused by miscommunication. Make sure you create a consistent set of rules, post them with every auction, and follow them to the letter. If you have any problems with a customer, you can point to the rules. At the very worst, they can disagree with your policy; however, they cannot disagree that they entered into a contract with you with fair access to your policies.

In addition to using rules, you should also send follow-up emails after your auction ends. You should thank the buyer for purchasing from you and make sure he knows how to complete payment and when he can expect his item in the mail.

"How do Dutch Auctions Work on eBay?" by Jason James

A multiple-item ('Dutch') auction is an auction where more than one of the same item is being sold at once. There are two kinds of Dutch auctions.

Without Bidding.

The most common Dutch auctions are actually a combination of two auction types: they're multiple-item fixed price auctions (Dutch Buy it Now auctions to you and me). This just means that you can offer more than one of an item at a time for a fixed price.

This is very powerful if you're selling something small in large quantities. You can just say how many of the item you have, and the Buy it Now auction will stay there until its duration is up or all the items have been sold.

Buyers aren't limited to only buying one item at a time, either: they can enter how many they want and then just click Buy it Now to get them. If you're selling small things loose, then this can be really great - instead of selling them in packs of 50, you can sell 24 to one person and 95 to the next. It lets buyers save money by buying exactly what they need, and it lets you offer them the flexibility to have as many or few of an item as they want.

With Bidding.

Dutch auctions can also be done by bidding, but the process is rather complicated. Buyers bid a price and say how many items they want, and then everyone pays the lowest price that was bid by one of the winning bidders. Let's say there are 10 of an item for sale. Anne bids $5 each for 4, while Bob bids $4 for 6. Anne will get her 4 and Bob will get his 6, but they will both only pay $4.

Here's another example. If there are 5 items for sale and Anne, Bob, Carol and Dean want to buy 2 each, then obviously someone is going to lose out. Whoever bid the lowest will only get one of the item. If Anne bid $5 each, Bob bid $4 each, Carol bid $3 each, and Dean bid $2 each, then Anne will get 2, Bob will get 2, Carol will get 1 and poor Dean gets nothing. So then: how much they pay for the items?

Starting to sound like a particularly evil math problem, isn't it? The answer is that everyone will pay $3, as Carol's bid was the lowest one that won anything. If you have trouble getting your head around that, then don't worry - everyone else does too! That's why Dutch auctions with bidding are so rare.

"Trial and Error Really Works To Discover What Is Working" by Jason James

As I have indicated, trial and error is one major tool for success. It works, pure and simple. Don't be afraid to try out new ideas or to feature dozens of your most popular products. Find out what sells and what doesn't - continually order new products from your supplier that you feel will become big hits on Ebay.

Do not get into a rut selling the same thing over and over again; you will saturate the market after a few months. The most important use for trial and error on Ebay is to use the regular auctions as a testing ground for your new merchandise to determine its sales percentage and corresponding marketability, as well as its profit margin.

You can then make an educated decision as to whether or not to feature the auction or choose the Dutch option, or both. Impulse selling is much like impulse buying - you regret it soon afterwards.

Don't use the fancy options on Ebay until you first use trial and error on all of your products.

In my next lesson, we will discuss... "10 things you can do right now to increase your auction success."

"What are the best selling items on eBay?" by Jason James

The very first question that comes from everyone's mouth when wanting to sell on ebay is "What are the best selling items on ebay?" Now isn't that the 64 million dollar question! Well I hate to sound like I'm playing games with you but the best selling items on ebay are anything and everything!

Of course there are some variables with might make some products to sell on ebay more efficient than others but the reality is that all of the best selling items on ebay can only be determined by you, your hobbies, your profit interests, and what resources are available to you.

For example, there are thousands of ebay sellers that swear the best selling items on ebay are Antiques and collectibles. In fact, quite a few hard copy books and E-books have been written on this subject of selling old items like Antiques on Bay.

For many people the best selling items on eBay are any odds and ends that they may pick up at garage sales or in their own homes. Used clothes, toys, baseball cards, handmade bags, etc. are all best selling items on eBay.

Personally, I think that the best selling items on eBay are products that cost very little and turn a much bigger profit. Notice that I did not specifically describe a certain product or a certain service. That is because I go after the 'market' instead of the eBay product first. This way of approaching your eBay business will skyrocket your profits, open up new doors to your selling, and increase your list of best selling items on eBay.

What are some examples of these types of products? Here is a secret tip for you: Digital products turned into hard copy books. This is a simple solution to selling information to eBay buyers who are not into E-books (because they need something tangible). You can create copies on paper, tapes, or even CDs to increase the value. Please keep in mind that this is what I consider to be the best selling items on eBay.

"eBay Marketplace Fraud: How To Fight It!" by Jason James

Did you realize that online auctions tops the National Consumer League's list of scams perpetrated online? Although the ebay marketplace has a wonderful track record of 99% honest transactions, you still need to be savvy to the sort of criminal activity that does happen within the ebay marketplace and stay clear of fraud from both an ebay seller and ebay buyers.

Below is a list of the top three offenses that happen within the ebay marketplace community.

1. Bid Shielding: This is when a pre-organized group of ebay bidders enter the ebay marketplace and team up to bid on a particular item, thus inflating the high bid to scare off real shoppers. At this point the lowest bidder (member of the scam) then has everyone else retract their bid and comes out winning the auction at at a dishonest low price. If you sense that bid shielding is going on within the ebay marketplace then report them immediately.

2. Descriptions are are totally misleading or photos that are obviously fake: This is an ebay marketplace sellers scam where the auctioneers falsely and unethically distort the description of the products they are selling. This criminal seller within the ebay marketplace will go as low as stealing photos from online and totally create a false product presentation. And when the buyer receives the shipment it is always a lesser classed product then was bought that does not match the auction.

3. Shilling of the Bids: This scam is perpetrated by the sellers of the ebay marketplace and is something that is hard to catch unless you were closely following the seller in question. Simply put, bid shilling is when a seller auctions off a product on the ebay marketplace and actually raises the bids himself in order to draw attention to it and have the price raised. How does one do this? They use multiple Ids or the enlist other separate bidders to enter the ebay marketplace and team up on the scam.

"A Crash Course in Having Your Ebay Merchandise Drop Shipped" by Jason James

Having your ebay products drop shipped sounds like a great idea on the surface but the real question is; can you drop ship ebay goods and realistically count on them to arrive to your buyer on time, having the correct product, and in one piece? Most often the answer is yes, you can.

Having a 3rd party company drop ship ebay merchandise for you ideally works like this: Once you find a distributor to drop ship ebay goods for you then you place those products online in your ebay auction with a full description and a photo caption to go with it.

When your customer purchases this product and the payment is processed, you send the order to your distributor. The distributor in turn will always drop ship ebay merchandise to your customers. What makes it "drop-shipping" is that the package should always show that you were the actual shipper with the return label your business name and information without you actually having shipped it out.

If your distributor will drop ship ebay products for you and it all goes smoothly then this practice is a win win for everyone. You do not have to stock ebay inventory and your distributor has no worries of the retail sales end of things.

On the other hand, there are definitely stories of unreliable distributors that will offer to drop ship ebay products for you that you will want to stay clear from. You customer does not care who messes up a job if your distributor is supposed to drop ship ebay products to them and the product never arrives or comes damaged. Can you blame them? No way. If you had ordered a product from Ebay and the product never arrived then the owner of the auction would be to blame, regardless if that person claimed to have distributors drop ship ebay merchandise for them.

The best way to test new distributor is to place an order and have it shipped to a friend or family member so you can see how the shipping procedure goes. You will find out if they will drop ship ebay products for you on time and with the correct labeling. Good luck!

"Top Ebay Business Secrets Revealed" by Jason James

Ten million-let me say that number again-over ten million people visited the Ebay website last month. With everything from online auctions to drop shipping opportunities, the Ebay business website has something for everyone. If you are thinking about joining in on the hysteria and trying to make your fortune with an Ebay business of your own, here are some of the best things you can do to maximize your chances for success.

Do Your Homework

To begin with, you want to know as much as possible about the items you plan on offering on the Ebay auctions. This not only helps you create more interesting descriptions, but it also helps when trying to answer the barrage of questions that inevitably fly at you from potential buyers. The more knowledgeable you appear, the more likely you are to make a sale!

You also need to know if there is actually a market out there for what you are planning to sell. While you might occasionally hear about some off-the-wall item commanding big money at auction, these are the exceptions and not something to base your Ebay business upon. Run a search on the item and see how many items for that keyword come up to get an idea about your potential market. Chances of success are poor if no one else is selling a similar item.

Keywords and Descriptions Will Make or Break You

People find their way to Ebay auctions by using keywords to find the items they want. Your listing will use keywords to draw people in to bid on your item. If you try employing a keyword that no one uses, then who will come to bid on your item?

There are websites out there that will allow you to type in a keyword and see how many people used that keyword in the past month. These sites are free and a great way to test the keyword you intend to use. Just go to any search engine and type in "free keyword selector tool" and a number of sites will come up offering help finding the perfect keyword to attract people to bid on your item.

Once you have the people coming in to look at your item you are going to need a great description in order to get them to actually bid. If you are not the best writer but are serious about succeeding with your Ebay business, you may want to consider hiring a freelance writer to compose stunning descriptions that will awe people into bidding on your item. But, by doing your homework, it is usually possible to write a great description simply by being knowledgeable about the item and simply conveying some of that knowledge in your description.

Post Items During "Hot Periods"

Anyone serious about succeeding with their Ebay business needs to know when to post items and when to hold onto them. Online auctions offering leather jackets in July may solicit a few bids but they will obviously be lower than they would be had the item been posted in late fall or early winter. If you have an odd item and are not sure what the best time would be to post it on Ebay auctions, try searching for the item on the Internet. Find out what the current buzz is or whether there is any for your item. Also, try finding other sellers on the Ebay business site offering the same item. If you find a lot of people selling the same item now, then clearly it is a good time to post. Timing can really make a difference in the final price you receive for your item.

Now there are of course other things you need to do if you want your Ebay business to succeed such as: post the item in the right category, make buying easy by offering a number of payment options, and keeping your shipping costs to a minimum. All of these are essentials to a successful Ebay business but are not likely to have the same effect upon your chances of success like the other ideas mentioned earlier.

There is no doubt that Ebay auctions are a great way to make some serious money. By doing your homework, using the right keywords and descriptions, and by posting during the hot periods for your items, you significantly increase the odds of your Ebay business succeeding and making all of your financial dreams a reality. So what are you waiting for? Start doing your homework now!

"What To Do When Your Auctions End and the Importance Of Customer Service" by Jason James

HOW ARE MY AUCTIONS DOING?

Just log-in to your eBay account and go to My eBay. Or visit: http://my.ebay.com On the left hand menu just click on "All Selling" and there you will have a snapshot of how your auctions are doing. This screen will list all of your auctions and tell you the numbers or bids you have for each item, the number of people who are "Watching" your items, and the time left before the bidding ends.

THE AUCTION'S OVER, NOW WHAT?

Well, you’ve sold your first items on eBay, and you are excited!! Now, you see that this stuff can really make you some money. The first thing you do is send an e-mail out to the winning bidder, letting them know where to send the money and any other special instruction that they may need.

Let them know that you will notify them when you receive their payment, and also that you will let them know when the item has been sent. This will accomplish two things, first it will help your money arrive more quickly, and second it will make the buyer feel more at ease. Everyone is a little cautious when dealing with someone new for the first time, so good communications are a must. If you are delayed in getting an item out for any reason, let the buyer know via e-mail.

Once you receive the buyer's payment, it is only fair to leave them some positive feedback on the system. After all, a lot of people use this factor to decide if they want to do business with someone. If they have been good to deal with, please let other people know, and perhaps they will do the same for you in return!

It does not hurt to mention where they can leave feedback for your auction and your service to them. You might leave a note in their package that you sent, or you might send a follow up email to them telling them when you shipped their product with a reminder that you would appreciate feedback.

Of course all of the tedious work I just mentioned above can be automatically done with a good auction management service. As I have mentioned in earlier parts of this guide I highly recommend Vendio for an auction management service.

WHAT IF THE HIGH BIDDER BACKS OUT?

There is not a lot you can do if a bidder backs out on you. What you can do first is contact eBay and let them know that the item did not sell for the high bid. Remember that eBay takes a percentage of the highest bid, so let them know that the highest bid backed out on you.

If the high bidder refuses to respond to e-mail inquiring about their reasons for backing out on the bid or is rude, then, by all means, leave negative feedback about the user on eBay. Most problems can be settled via e-mail, so be sure before you affect the online reputation of a buyer through negative feedback. The buyer's hard drive could have crashed or have been shorted out by lightening. Family emergencies can also cause users to be away from their computers. Also remember, that if you need to re-list your item on eBay, you can probably do it for free! Just look at the link that eBay points to in the e-mail it sends you after the auction is over if for any reason you need to re-list the item.

========Customer Service=============

Always answer a customer's email. Whether the customer is praising your product or complaining, whether he is offering his input or asking a question, he or she deserves an answer. Particularly on Ebay, where feedback really counts!

If you fail to answer emails, you may receive such comments as "unresponsive seller" or "ignored my repeated inquiries" in your feedback file. You will also earn yourself a poor reputation and lose respect in the online trading community.

My recommendation: Keep your answers short, courteous, and to the point. Provide all relevant information and be friendly, but don't get bogged down in long email conversations back and forth, and don't let the customer lead you on an irrelevant tangent. Your time is money. Also, you should create a classy signature file that inspires confidence in you as a seller and looks professional.

Finally, I strongly recommend creating a folder in your email program entitled "pre-written messages" in which you have template messages already created to answer common questions such as:

1) When has my item been shipped?

2) When did you receive payment?

3) How long does shipping take? Etc, etc.

Customize your pre-written messages to fit your particular product, as you will notice very similar questions and comments from customers as time passes. It is MUCH EASIER to send out a pre-written form email than write a specific answer to each inquiry. However, make sure that it doesn't sound like you are using a form email and make sure to add a personal touch when possible.

Once again, once you get going and selling items, you will definetely want to use an auction management service. The one I recommend is: Vendio

When considering email customer service, you must balance time, efficiency, and courteousness to maximize your working potential.

Congratulations! You made through my 14 day learn how to sell on eBay guide. As you can see there is a lot to learn when selling on eBay, but the fun you'll have and the payoff will be well worth it.

Now, its really up to you if you just want to make an extra $50 or $100 per week, or if you want to make this a full time venture. I know when I started it was with just selling household items, such as my old cell phone, and an old digital camera. After those 2 items sold, I was hooked! eBay is such an amazing website, and online auctions are such an amazing concept. The sky is truly the limit.

"Feedback Secrets That Will Sky Rocket Your Ebay Sales" by Jason James

I've heard some Ebay users remark that feedback isn't all that important, that no one reads that stuff in the first place. Quite the contrary. While newbies and eBay novices will often overlook the feedback for lack of understanding and inexperience, almost ALL veteran buyers will view your feedback before buying your product. If they see comments such as "product not delivered," "this guy is a fraud," "terrible seller, would not trade with again." Then they will never purchase your merchandise. You need to have an outstanding feedback rating brimming with positive comments to really make huge profits on Ebay.

Also, you need a feedback rating of 50 or more to list Dutch auctions or to 10 more to feature an auction. The way to ensure quality feedback is simply to deliver a quality product quickly, efficiently, and honestly. If you are looking for a "quick fix" or a "hit and run" scheme then eBay is not the place for you.You can build a hugely profitable and legitimate online business using internet auctions without defrauding anyone!

There will always be a few rogue customers who claim they never received their product or you were too slow to deliver it, or else were unhappy with what they received.

We all know that the customer is NOT always right. My recommendation for dealing with such problem buyers is simply to offer a 30-day no-questions-asked refund on any physical product that you are selling (services, information, and software excluded for obvious reasons). If they persist in causing problems, just ignore them. One or two negative feedbacks won't destroy you, 10 or 20 will.

In my final lesson, we will talk about... "The End of Your Auction" and "Customer Service"

"How To Get More People To See Your Ebay Ads" by Jason James

What you can do is set up your own web site. It may not get as many hits as the auctions at eBay, but it’s a good place to list items that are harder to sell, or that you want a set price for! Your own web site will give you total control over the environment. And, although you probably will get only a fraction of the traffic that eBay does, you can leave the items up for as long as you want, and you can set your own price. If you want a higher price, and are willing to wait for it, you can be successful running your own web site.

We’ve talked about getting free web space before, from such companies as Geocities, and these can be fine to use for a small web site to list a few products with your e-mail address. If you decide to get a little more involved, you may want to go out and find a company that rents web space that you can use. Most offer a large site for about $15 to $25 per month. These sites will offer you the ability to use a custom domain name, i.e.. www.mycompany.com, and will offer things like e-mail, on-line support, shopping cart programs etc. You would do well to get your own domain name and then find a web host for your own domain. Two popular places to get your domain name are:
http://www.godaddy.com
http://www.directnic.com

An easier option is to create an online auction store with eBay. The costs to create this type of store are low, and the fees to list multiple products is generally much lower than listing individual items at auctions. I try to have a good mix of store items, and online auction items. To open your own eBay store simply visit the link below and click on "Open a Store" http://ebay-stores.auctionresourcenetwork.net

TIMING IS EVERYTHING!

An eBay ad generally gets the most attention on its first day posted, and in the hours before the auction ends. I have found there are certain really optimum times to begin and end an auction.

In my experience Saturday and Sunday afternoons have the heaviest viewer traffic on eBay. So, I suggest that you post your auction on Saturday or Sunday between the hours of noon and 3:00 p.m. (prime time viewing hits its peak between 3-4:00 p.m. Allow it to run a seven day course so that it ends during these same high exposure viewing hours.

In my next lesson, we will discuss... "Feedback Secrets - It Matters"

"How to properly pack and ship your Ebay products" by Jason James

Learning to pack and ship your merchandise is generally the very last step in the ebay product sales process to be considered. Packing and shipping can actually be a learned skill because you must do it right the first time and since your ebay product is being shipped to paying customers, you will only have one chance to make it work and get that product out to your customer in good condition.

If you have the right supplies then the skill of packing and shipping your ebay products can be easily mastered. Here are some points of interest to keep in mind to help you pack and ship your ebay products safely.

1. Your ebay products should be packed very snug and tight within your boxes to avoid being shifted around and broken during shipping. On the other hand, do not overdo it with too much tightness because that also could result in damaged a ebay product.

2. Remember that shipping costs could eat you up if you do not 'think' as light as possible when it comes to packaging your ebay product. Choose the most lightweight of materials that you can gather. You do not want to have all of your ebay product profits destroyed by high shipping costs due to packaging.

3. If your ebay product is considered fragile then the best method of packing this item is to package it inside of a box and then pack that box inside of another. It's the 'box within a box' type method and as you can probably imagine, this heavily reduces the chances of damage to your ebay products.

4. To help protect ebay products that are flat items then try to use cardboard stuffers or padded envelopes. These little packing gems can provide you with that extra peace of mind knowing that your customers will receive their ebay products without any damage.

5. You may not have considered this before but it is important not over-tape your ebay product boxes. I know that sealing your boxes up extra tight and with lots of tape prior to shipping may seem like a great idea but there are cases where the customer has to aggressively wrestle to open up a packaged item and because of that they actually damage the product in the process.

Once your ebay product is ready to be shipped out to the customer then the next thing to do is to go to the nearest shipping carrier's office or authorized shipping center of your choice. Most people have their preference of shipping companies and some just like to stick with the United States Postal Service because it is fairly cheap. Ultimately, it is up to you to determine which service you want to use to ship out your ebay products.

Stay organized with your outgoing ebay products by retaining copies of all of your shipping insurance forms, your package receipts, the ebay product tracking numbers, etc. Not only might you need these documents for personal reasons in the future but they will definitely come in handy in the short run should the package gets lost or the delivery of your ebay product is beyond the promised delivery time. If you have a customer that is very upset because the ebay product that they ordered from you is lost or a no-show then you will need to have the appropriate receipt and documentation to prove it.

Ok, so your ebay product is en route to your customer so what's next? Well most ebay sellers just sit back and do nothing after the sale is made and the item is shipped but I suggest that you take your commitment to your ebay customers one step further. To really stand out and show your customer that you are just as concerned about their ebay products getting shipped to them properly as they are; simply use email to communicate with them every step of the way.

In other words you should send them several courtesy emails along the way. For starters, you can email your customer to let them know that their ebay products have been shipped.

The next email should be to let your ebay customer know that their merchandise is actually 'en route' on the shipping truck. This information can be easily found by utilizing the shipping company's online tracking service.

If you really want to stay in constant contact with your customer and show them that you really care about their ebay products getting to them safely then you can also send a third email letting them know when their item is actually on the truck in their local town and en route to their house or business.

And last but not least, send them an email once you know that their ebay product has been delivered. As stated above, you can find this information out by the tracking features provided by most major shipping outlets.

"How to Increase the Success Of Your Auctions" by Jason James

As with any business, there are always paid bells and whistles you can add to spice things up and to try and generate more sales. I have compiled a list of 10 items that can really help you increase your eBay bids and sales. Enjoy.

1) Use eBay research software. If theres just 1 thing you learn from me, it's that market research is vitally important when you are selling on eBay. By seeing what has sold, what it sold for, how many bids its got, what category it was in, what made the listings unique, etc you can virtually guarantee your success. There is a product that does all this and more. It's called "Hot Item Finder" It's really like having a secret weapon. I highly recommend this software and I definetely recommend taking a look. You can get more information here: http://hotitemfinder.auctionresourcenetwork.net

2) Add audio to your auctions. Believe it or not there are services that allow you to add audio to your auction listings. Imagine how powerful it would be if a potential bidder visits your auction and they hear your voice describing the product in detail. This will really help build trust, and increase your sales. I highly recommend a service called "Sellers Voice" They specialize in adding audio to online auctions. You can visit their website with this link: http://sellersvoice.auctionresourcenetwork.net

3) Like I have mentioned many times in this guide, trust is a very important aspect of selling items at online auctions. Thats why you need a 3rd party service like "Square Trade" to help establish this trust. They basically insert a logo into all of your auction listings saying that you are a trusted seller, letting people know about your company etc. Square Trade is eBay certified and is truly one of the must have add-on services. A large percentage eBay sellers are Square Trade certified. You can access their website with the link below: http://www.squaretrade.com

4) Add live chat to your auctions! Imagine if a potential buyer came to one of your auction listings and they had a question. In the past they would have to email you and wait several hours if not days for a response. Not anymore, with a program called "Mighty Chat" your potential bidders can click a link within your auctions and chat with you instantly. I can speak enough about how powerful this is. You can visit Mighty Chat here: http://www.mightychat.com

5) Buy professionally designed auction templates. For just a few dollars you can start posting beautiful, bid pulling auction listings. Using templates is a cheap and easy to way increase your auction success. A well known service called "Bid Boosters" provides these templates. You can visit their website here: http://www.bidboosters.com

6) Offer alternative payment methods to your bidders. A large percentage of your winning bidders will pay for their winning bid with PayPal, but not everybody will want to use this method. It's best to offer alternative payment methods to your bidders. For example http://www.bidpay.com is a very popular service that allows your winning bidders to pay you via a Western Union type of money order. Also there is http://auctionpayments.checkfree.com with this service winning bidders can pay for their winning bid via a standard check. People always like to have options and these are 2 great ones.

7) Check out eBay Pulse to take a look at eBays most searched words and most watched items. As eBay puts it: "A daily snapshot of The World's Online Marketplace" Just click the following link to learn more: http://pulse.ebay.com

8) Increase your auction sales by attracting new customers and increasing your current customer loyalty. There is a great service called "Auction Contact" that automatically lets your customers know about your auctions and merchandise. Basically how it works is, every week your customers receive your customized newsletter listing your auctions and providing a direct link to each auction. Most importantly, Auction Contact is affordable, easy to use, and fully automated. You can visit their website here: http://auctioncontact.auctionresourcenetwork.net

9) Along the lines of increasing customer loyalty, there is a new service called "Pay Codes" that allows you to offer your customers coupons to save them money on future PayPal payments to you. PayCodes is an ideal way to reward your customers and attract new buyers. A very powerful tool. You can visit their website with the link below: http://paycodes.auctionresourcenetwork.net

10) It is vital to use an auction management service. This will save you a lot of time which you can use to concentrate on making more money. A good auction management service will automate such things as emailing your winning bidders and leaving feedback automatically. I highly recommend a product called Vendio. You can visit their website with this link: Vendio

"How To Do an Ebay Market Analysis" by Jason James

Market analysis is very important to determine what sells and what doesn't. When you're paying Ebay listing fees for featured auctions or listing fees for category featured Dutch auctions, you need to continually evaluate the profit potential, profit margin, and sales percentage of your products as relates to the length of auction, type of auction (featured, featured in category, bold face title, etc.), description & sales pitch, price, and a number of other factors.I'm not going to provide you with a complete plan for performing a market analysis because this isn't an economic manual, but I will give you a few tips. You'll have to do some pretty tiresome calculations by hand. In particular, you should evaluate the following points FOR EACH OF YOUR PRODUCTS:

Sales percentage (number of listings for a certain item / number of sales)

Profit margin (average profit of the item)

Profit potential (largest profit from the sale of the item)

Category sales percentage (sales percentage for a certain item listed in different categories. Which category does it sell best in?)

Featured auction profit margin vs. category featured profit margin (does your profit margin from featured auctions for a certain item exceed your profit margin for category featured auctions? If so, you should feature the item. If not, you should only category feature it)

Performing a market analysis is one of the most important ways to maximize your net revenue once you have listed enough auctions to collate plenty of raw data.

UPDATE: "Hot Item Finder" software program is an unbelievable product to conduct this eBay research. You can extract and analyze licensed eBay data and statistics to virtually ensure your auction success by seeing what has sold, for how much, how many bids it got, etc. Visit the website here: http://www.hotitemfinder.com

"Should You Use Dutch Auctions" by Jason James

If you're a Low Volume Seller, you need to run multiple Dutch auctions to really make a killing on Ebay. Consider this example; you sell designer watches on Ebay for $150.00 each and you have 200 different types of watches. Therefore, you decide to run 200 separate featured in category auctions in the Jewelry and Jewelry > Watches categories.

If you don't make use of the Dutch option and list only one watch at a time, then your maximum potential for sales each week is 200 watches. If your profit margin is $75.00 and your average percentage sales equals 60%, then you're weekly income is $9,000. Not bad, but not $100,000 per month either!

Now let's modify that example. Instead of listing 200 auctions of one watch at a time, you should instead list 200 Dutch auctions selling 100 watches at a time for each style of watch you carry. You would still have 200 auctions online each week, but your sales potential jumps from 200 to TWENTY THOUSAND (200 auctions x 100 Dutch watches in each auction = 20,000). Obviously, you won't sell 20,000 watches each week.If your product is popular, you might sell 5-10 watches on average from each Dutch auction you feature. Now let's recalculate your weekly income after running the Dutch auctions:

10 watches x 200 auctions x profit margin $75.00 = $150,000. A little better than $9,000, isn't it? To be on the safe side, let's allow for a FIFTY PERCENT MARGIN OF ERROR in our calculations. Perhaps you only sell 5 watches per auction, or you only make $37.50 per watch, or you only list 100 instead of 200 different types of products.

You would still make $75,000 per week! Even if we allowed for ANOTHER fifty percent margin of error on the second calculation, you'd make $37,500 per week!

As you can see, Dutch auctions are the key to success on Ebay. When you combine the Dutch option with the featured or category-featured option, then you're playing a winning game. High Volume Sellers need not worry about Dutch Auctions in general, but Low Volume Sellers (the most common and often the wealthiest) must use this option to rake in the profits!

Please Note: An eBay member must have a feedback rating of 50 or more in order to place a Dutch Auction and have been with eBay for 60 days or be ID verified (See http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/id_verify.html for more information.)

"To Use The Featured Ad Option Or Not To" by Jason James

To Feature or Not to Feature. Featured auctions get more bids. They also cost more - a lot more. Before deciding whether or not to feature your item, you need to evaluate its popularity. You should perform a basic market analysis.

There are 2 types of featured auctions - those which that are Gallery Featured ($19.95) and those of which that are Featured Plus! ($19.95)

By choosing Gallery Featured, your item will periodically appear in the special Featured section above the general Gallery. Your picture will be almost double the size of non-featured Gallery pictures, and will also appear in the general Gallery.

Featured Plus! gives your listing prominent placement in the category list and search results. Your item will be featured prominently in the Featured Items section of the category list you choose for the item. It will also appear in the regular, non-featured item list.

Note: An eBay member must have a feedback rating of 10 or more in order to place a Featured Auction or a Featured Plus Auction.

"You Must Have A Intelligent Ebay Strategy" by Jason James

The key to making enormous profits on Ebay is to develop a detailed and efficient strategy long before you list your first item. First you need to know what type of product you want to sell, where to find your niche market on Ebay, and develop a profile of your average customer. In addition, you should already have determined which categories are appropriate for your product. Now you are ready to set your strategy for the business. Read this part of the guide very, very carefully. I'm going to present you with a strategy that you can apply to virtually any product you wish to sell on Ebay. I will generalize the outline so you can fill in the specifics related to your own particular niche market and merchandise.

There are two types of sellers on Ebay which I will call High Volume Listers and Low Volume Listers. High Volume Listers are those who list more and keep more than 10 auctions online at a time. Low Volume Listers keep fewer than 10 auctions online at a time.

The profit margin of the product you sell determines which category you will fit into.

For example, if you sell real estate and make $10,000 per sale, you may only need to list a few properties each week on Ebay to make a real killing with your internet business. The same applies for the sale of expensive jewelry, automobiles, and other items with a large profit margin. However, if you sell magazines or other inexpensive items you may only make $5-10 per sale. In this case, you would need to list hundreds of items at a time to make large profits, and thus you would become a High Volume Lister. I know what you're thinking - why would anyone go through the effort of listing so many items when it seems so easy to list a few large items and make a fortune? The answer cuts to the heart of internet sales itself: ONLINE BUYERS ARE MOST WILLING TO SPEND UNDER $50.00 FOR A PRODUCT. This makes sense - would you pay thousands for something you have never seen? Another reason that High Volume Listers are more common and often make more money on Ebay is that it is very easy to buy inexpensive items at wholesale prices, but very difficult to buy real estate or automobiles at wholesale prices.

Armed with this information, you must consider the product you're selling and make an intelligent, informed decision on whether to become a High Volume or a Low Volume Seller. If you have plenty of free time to devote to your new business, I recommend you opt for the High Volume option. But if you are an Ebay seller at nights and on weekends, you may wish to start off with the Low Volume option until your business really takes off. Again, only you know best which option to choose based on the amount of time you have available and the profit margin of your merchandise.

Once you determine what type of seller you will be, you are half-way to developing a sales strategy on Ebay. The next step is to integrate everything you have learned so far in this guide and project your selling strategy into the future. For example, let's assume you have decided to sell jewelry on Ebay. Here is a test case for consideration: You have identified your niche market and found the associated categories. You know that your buyers will probably spend $50.00-100.00 per purchase and you realize that the average profit of your auctions will be about $60.00.You have plenty of time and your profit margin is low, so you decide to become a High Volume Seller on Ebay and choose to list 100-200 auctions per week. You estimate that 70% of your auction will end with winning bids, which is the eBay average. Based on this prediction, you calculate your weekly income at $6,300. You have a wholesale account set up with your jewelry supplier and have already purchased enough inventory to cover your first week of Ebay sales. You plan to re-list every auction as soon as it ends and place one weekly order to fill your inventory along with one weekly outgoing mailing to your buyers. Your basic sales strategy is set and you are ready to begin listing your auctions!

In the example above, you will notice that the seller thought of EVERYTHING before listing a single item, making sure that he/she was prepared for the task ahead and establishing a solid game-plan. Before beginning, you should project your sales strategy into the future and run through all possible problems, resolving them in your mind. If it helps, write out a paragraph like the one above and analyze it for errors of logic. KNOW YOUR SALES STRATEGY BEFORE YOU BEGIN.

I strongly recommend listing all of your auctions as regular auctions before you begin. Do not feature them or use the Dutch Auction option at this time. Test out your sales strategy and evaluate the popularity of your product in its niche market for several weeks before continuing. The rest of this guide contains advanced tips designed for sellers who have mastered the concepts already set forth and who have performed a basic market analysis of their products based on the results of several weeks of auctions.

Please note, when and if you ever decide on Dutch Auctions (the selling of more of the same item at one time to the highest bidders) An eBay member must have a feedback rating of 50 or more in order to use the Dutch Auction Feature or be ID Verified. (See http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/id_verify.html for more information.)

"The Killer Ebay Ad That Makes Your Items Sell Like Hot Cakes" by Jason James

This is what is all comes down to, you take everything that you have learned and you put it to good use. You know what you want to sell, you know how you want to describe it, you know what your starting bid will be, and you have a picture or two up on the Internet that you want to use in your ad. You are primed for action!

This next step can really make or break any ad that you have come up with. If you’ve looked around eBay or other auction web sites, you couldn’t tell one from another. You know what that means? You probably are not inclined to buy from those ads.

You did see a few ads through, that you thought "wow that's cool." You know the ones that used different fonts, in different sizes, with bold letters, or different colors that really caught your eye. And they used a great photo of the product, and even some cool graphics, right? And, those are not only the ads that people remember; they are the ads that people BUY FROM!

If you take the extra time to make your ad look good, the people who are bidding on the item will realize that they are dealing with someone who cares about what they are selling. They are dealing with someone who will go the extra mile to make sure that they are happy with their purchase!

If you are already familiar with HTML, the language that you use to create web sites, than you can pretty much skip this section. What I’m going to show you here is how to make your ads look like a custom web page using simple HTML.

There are a lot of different programs out there that can help automate this task for you. Programs like Microsoft Front Page are a full-blown web design tool that you can use. Or you can even use the more recent browsers from Microsoft or Netscape to create a simple web page. The programs will let you work in a WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET environment, and will let you create some awesome looking web pages without needing to know a whole lot about HTML.

The section on eBay that asks you for a description of your item, the section that says that HTML code is accepted. What this basically means is that you can include any of the tags that HTML understands. These tags can do anything from make the text larger or smaller, make the text bold or italics, center the text and graphics on the page, or even link up to another website. The possibilities are endless.

BASIC HTML TAGS

What I’m going to give you here are the bare basic tags that you can add to your eBay ads to make them look better. This is not a full guide in HTML, but you can find a web site address later in this section that will take you to a full tutorial on HTML if you are interested in such things!

If you have placed any ads on eBay, you have seen the screen where you enter the ads into the system. You enter your vital information, like your e-mail address and your password. When you get down to the box where you enter your description, it says something there that you may or may not understand. It says that HTML tags are acceptable. What this is telling you is that you can use little bits of HTML tags to help your ads look better.

Attaching Images: Most auction sites make it very easy to attach an image to your auction when placing a listing.
(Note: URLs for images will all end in either "gif" or "jpeg." These are file formats for images. GIF images are limited to 256 colors, but JPEG images can contain up to 16 million colors and provide photo-like clarity.)

Many sellers have decided to go the extra step and create personal Web pages, which can include information about them, their auctions, and the kind of items they specialize in. It's a good way for buyers to get a better understanding of whom they're dealing with. Many Internet Service Providers offer a small amount of free Web space on which to host a personal page. In addition, Web-building software, tutorials, and HTML books make it extremely easy for even the most technologically challenged to be the masters of their own domain space.

Ever wonder how the HTML pros do it? Well, it's very easy to discover the tricks of the trade whenever your browser is on a given Web page. If you're using Internet Explorer, click on View on the menu bar and then select Source. If you're a Netscape user, click on View on the menu bar and then select Page Source. This should bring up a Notepad file in which you'll be able to view all the HTML commands and codes that went into the creation of the page you're visiting. It's a good way to familiarize yourself with all the different elements that go into a Web page.

FREE COUNTER

We can see how many people have actually bid on our auctions, but how do we know how many people have stopped to look at our ad for the item we're selling? You can obtain a FREE counter for your eBay ad when you create a listing.

However, if you wish to have more details stats about your auction listings a program called "Sellathon" will tell you such things as: How users found your auction, what search terms were used, how much time people spend looking at your auctions, and more. Use the link below to get more information on Sellathon: http://sellathon.auctionresourcenetwork.net

"Creating the Perfect E-bay Ad" by Jason James

THE TITLE GETS YOU NOTICED

Ok, you’ve been to the auction web site, and you’ve taken a look around. It’s a lot like looking through the classified section of a newspaper, except for the fact that you have to click on the title to see the rest of the ad. It can be a very confusing task to find exactly what you are looking for. It is a virtual maze as you try to weed out just the items that you are looking for. There’s so many items that the information overload makes you want to scream! It’s your job as a seller to help your prospective bidder cut through the red tape and get your ad viewed by as many people as you can! There are a few ways to do this, so let’s get to it! Like I just said in the last paragraph, in order for someone to see your ad, they have to go through the trouble to take their mouse, put it over your title and click on it! If they do not do this one thing, I do not care how good your item is, and I do not care how good your ad is, the simply reality is you are not going to sell a darn thing to them! Therefore, one of the most important things that you will do is create a title for your ad.

USE RELEVANT WORDS IN YOUR TITLE

The thing that I feel is the MOST IMPORTANT when coming up with your title is to include relevant words. Ok, this sounds really stupid, but you would be surprised at the amount of titles that tell you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You must be extremely specific in your titles about exactly what you are selling. If you have an autographed Frank Sinatra photo, don’t use the title "Frank Sinatra." I don’t care if it is in the autograph section of the web site, this is not descriptive enough, and a lot of people may miss your ad. Use something more like "RARE Frank Sinatra AUTOGRAPHED LP" and you will be amazed at the difference in the amount of bids you will get. Remember that a lot of people will use the search feature to find the items that they are looking for, and make sure you include the words that they are most likely to search for in your title! I’m a big NASCAR racing fan and absolutely love to purchase die-cast model cars over the Internet. If I am searching for the different paint schemes used by a particular driver, they had better have the driver's name in the title, or I am going to miss it! So remember, think about what your buyer is searching for, and give it to them in the title! USE WORDS THAT WILL GRAB THE BUYERS ATTENTION

The other thing you want to do in the title is use words that will GRAB the attention of the buyer. After all, they have literally thousands and thousands of titles to look at, and you want them to take a closer look at yours. How do you get their attention?

First, you can pay an extra fee to get your title listed in a bold face font. This is an easy way to set your ad apart from the rest of the ads that are out there. And while the bold face is a quick and easy way to get more attention, I don’t believe that it is always the best way. The best thing, along with being descriptive, is using POWER WORDS.

What are power words? They’re things that you can use to add a sense of urgency to your items. Words such as RARE, LIMITED EDITION, UNIQUE, ONE-OF-A-KIND, BEAUTIFUL, will help you get attention. Other words like GREAT, UNBELIEVABLE, STUNNING, AWESOME will also help get your buyer to notice what you are selling.

Look at these two titles:

Bruce Springsteen Autograph

"RARE SPRINGSTEEN AUTOGRAPHED GUITAR-AWESOME!"

Ok which one grabs your attention? I’d say that 98% of you said that the second title did, the other 2% of you need to take another look! There are a few things going on in the second title, the most noticeable is that the whole thing is using capital letters. Now, this is a great way to make your items stand out, but sometimes it can be overdone. Occasionally it can take away from the emphasis on what you want the buyer to see. Take a look at this title:

"RARE SPRINGSTEEN Autographed GUITAR Awesome!"

This can also be a very effective title. The buyer will see what is the most important in the title first, which is "Springsteen Guitar." Remember no matter how you use capitals and lower case letters, you want your title to stand out from the rest.

Many sellers like to use characters in their title, things like @, #, $, %, etc. to draw extra attention. Sometimes they look cheesy, and sometimes they work. That all depends on the product, and the type of buyer that you are trying to attract. Try a few different things and see what is most effective. Keep records on how well each individual ad title is received, and use the style that is most successful! Remember, when it comes to the title: be descriptive, use exciting attention grabbing words, and set your ad apart from the rest!

WRITING DESCRIPTIONS THAT SELL

Once you’ve gotten someone to take a look at your ad; you want him or her to bid on the item you are offering! You need to make your product look as appealing as possible and you want to motivate the person to place a bid immediately. After all, if the person leaves without placing a bid, there’s a good chance that they will not be back.

BE SPECIFIC

There are a few things that are important in the ad itself. The first, is the overall description of what you are selling. BE SPECIFIC. This is the most important thing in your description. Do not leave any room for error on what is for sale. Get as graphic and specific as you can to describe your item. If there is anything special about the item, list it. List any special features of the item. People do not feel comfortable bidding on something of which they are not 100% sure.

LIST ANY IMPERFECTIONS THAT THE ITEM HAS

If there are any flaws in the item, like a dent or scratch, you have to list that when you are selling the item to protect yourself. As long as you are 100% specific on what you are selling, you will save yourself a lot of time and hassle if someone decides to return the product to you because they were not aware of a defect.

Even if you are using a picture in your ad, and we do highly recommend using one. Write your description for an ad without a picture. That way the picture can be there to totally reinforce what you are selling, but will not rely on the photo.

Once you have written an accurate and honest description of the item, add your own creative touch. Again, use wording that will motivate the buyer to bid on your item. If the item is difficult to find, use words like rare, one of a kind, and unique. If it’s brand new in a box, let the buyer know that. Include things that may seem obvious to you, because the potential buyer may not be aware. This helps the buyer feel more comfortable in dealing with you.

BE CREATIVE

When writing your ad you want to paint pictures with your words. Use adjectives like great, awesome, beautiful, etc. to describe your item. Paint a visual picture that makes your item irresistible! Tell a story with the item if you can. Explain what the item is, and what it can do for the buyer. If you are selling a cute little teddy bear, play it up. Put something in the ad about the bear looking for a good new home, and some new friends to play with. Not only will the buyer get a kick out of the ad, they will be more likely to bid on the item if it is something that they are looking for. Going along with the theory that people do not want to bid on something that they are not 100% sure of, people are much more likely to bid on an item if they like the person that is selling the item. While it certainly is not easy to convey your personality through an eBay ad, it does not hurt to try!

"Deciding What To Sell On E-bay" by Jason James

Buying and selling things is not new. As a matter of fact, people have been buying and selling things in one form or another ever since time began. It is part of life. We all need or want things that we can’t provide for ourselves, so we have to find someone who can supply us with the items, and we pay them to provide us with these items that we need or want.

Deciding what you want to sell is not as easy as it looks. There are two main types of items that you will be selling. The first and most obvious are those items that are lying around your house that you want to get rid of, you know, all of those CD’s that you don’t listen to anymore, that old toy you got when you were a kid, things like that. These items are great to sell to make some extra money, but they are a one time sale item, meaning once they are sold, they are gone and so is your chance at a recurring income!

The second category of items that you will be selling is a set of products that you create or buy in order to sell them. These can be a great source of income, things as simple as your mother’s recipe for chocolate chip cookies or an ebook about Stock Market Investing. These types of items are things you can sell over and over again. They may not bring in as much per item as other items, but you can sell them in a great quantity. Let’s look at each of these item types in a little more detail.

ONE OF A KIND ITEMS - ITEMS THAT YOU OWN

First, we'll take the one of a kind items. These are the items that are taking up space in your closet, the things that you bought and don’t have a use for anymore, or the things you’ve gotten as presents that have never been taken out of the box! These items can put some fast cash in your pocket, as well as open up some much-needed space in your closets!

There is really no limit to the type of things that you currently own that you can auction off. Just by taking a look at an auction web site like eBay of course, you will see people selling everything from toys, computer equipment, photo equipment, antiques, books, clothing, and even automobiles and homes! Your choices for what you can actually sell are unlimited!

ITEMS THAT YOU CAN SELL IN QUANTITY

Now, let’s take a look at the other type of items. These are the items that you can sell in quantity. These can be things that you purchase in quantity in order to sell. There are a lot of collectibles that are widely available in certain areas that aren’t available worldwide. These can be sports figures, dolls, trading cards, etc. Anything that you can buy and sell at a modest profit is fair game, remember people on eBay DEMAND low prices. Better to sell 100 books for $5 than 20 for $10. And of course you can buy products in bulk from wholesalers to re-sell on eBay. For example, computers, digital cameras, and these types of in demand items. But like I said, make sure you are getting a good deal when you buy, and your profits will be higher.

HOW TO DECIDE WHAT TO SELL

How do you decide what types of items that you want to sell? Well, there are a few different ways to do this. The first thing I would do is make up a list of the items that you are considering for sale. Look at the items carefully, and write down information such as a description of the item, what you paid for it, the condition it is in, etc. Being very specific here will help you greatly if you decide to list any of these items for auction. Sometimes the smallest details can mean much greater prices, and much greater profits for you!

Now, take your list; sit down at your computer and search eBay for the types of items that you have come up with. Now, this may not be effective for that one of a kind BABE RUTH autograph. For about 85% of the things you want to sell, however, it should give you a pretty good idea of the market value of the item, as well as consumer interest.

So, fire up your internet browser, get to www.ebay.com and enter your search terms and you're on your way.

In the search box type a relevant term. If you want to know what 'U2 GREATEST HITS' CD is worth type "U2 GREATEST HITS" If you’re looking into selling your VCR, simply type "VCR" into the search categories at eBay.

As you can see, with searching for the proper words, it is very simple to see if the types of items you want to sell are already being sold at auctions. When you find the listings, you can learn a few very important things. The first is, you can get a good idea on what the market price is. By seeing what other people have sold similar items for, you can decide whether or not you want to sell the item, as well as what you should expect to get for the item when it sells! When you search, you can look at auctions that have recently been completed, as well as current ones, to see what items similar to yours are bringing in for other people. After you find out all of this good information, you can now set out with an idea of what you should bring in for selling your items.

The other thing you will learn by searching the web site for other similar products is the amount of people that want the type of item that you are selling. The auction web site lists the amount of bids along with all of its items. This will tell you how many people are bidding on those items. Obviously, if you have fifty different people bidding on an item, it’s a lot more apt to bring in money than an item that is being bid on by only one or two people. This is not an iron-clad rule, though, since you only need one bidder/buyer to make money on your item!!

The best way to get started in the market of buying and selling is to decide how much money you can afford to invest right off the bat. I would recommend starting with at least two hundred dollars or so to begin your empire. It’s a small investment, and you should be able to double your money pretty quickly!

Then, you need to decide exactly what you want to buy and sell. Your choices here are virtually unlimited, as you have already seen. Here’s a good way to begin. If you have a hobby, or an expertise that gives you an edge in particular field, use it to your advantage! If you know computers, you might want to buy and sell computer equipment. If you’re a camera nut, then maybe photographic equipment would be your cup of tea! Remember, if you have an edge over 90% of the other people at the auction site, you will probably be able to spot the bargains that you can buy and then re-sell at a profit!

Another way to find out good items to buy and sell is to check out the auction web site to see what other people are buying and selling! Just because someone else is selling the product like yours does not mean that you should not try marketing your own version of it. As a matter of fact, just the opposite is true! After all, if someone is already successful selling something, you probably can be too! Imagine that everyone looked at HENRY FORD’S first car and said, "gee what a great idea… Too bad it’s been done, no need for me to try." We would all be driving Model A's if that was the case!

CREATE ITEMS THAT YOU CAN PRODUCE & SELL YOURSELF

Another type of item that can be extremely successful is something that you can produce on your own. Things like grandma’s recipes, a "how-to" manual on hooking up your VCR, etc. These are the items that can offer you immense profits! I know, you’re asking yourself "what kind of item can I produce?" It’s simple, look at what you are good at and use it. If you can make the best brownies in town, sell your recipe. If you’re the guy everyone calls when they can’t figure it out how to do something on their computer, write a how to manual on that! Look at all of the books that are available "for dummies" on the store shelves. They sell like crazy, because everybody needs help to tell them how to do something! So take what you are good at and MARKET IT! People will gladly pay $5.00 to $10.00 for the information that they really need. After all, it is a very small price to pay in order to understand something, or to better yourself. And, while $5.00 or $10.00 is a relatively small amount for a buyer, it can really add up quickly for the seller!

If you’ve ever watched the TV Food Network, and I know I watch it too much sometimes, you may have seen the show the Essence of Emeril. Chef Emeril Lagasse has a saying that I think is very relevant to what you want to do with selling you items on eBay. Emeril says, "We’re not building a rocket ship here!" And, we are not building a rocket ship, nor are we reinventing the wheel. What you want to do is take a simple idea and nurture it, build it into something that you can offer the buyer. What you want to do is look for items that go for people’s "hot buttons".

While it may be true that everybody is different, it is also just as true that everyone is the same in a few ways. Everyone wants to make more money! I don’t care if you are near broke or Mr. Microsoft, Bill Gates himself; everyone wants to make more money! Everyone wants to be smarter. These are universal things that you can use to make yourself money!

Reference materials, like what you are reading right now, are great items to sell! Trust me, they are not always easy to put together, and can challenging to get off of the ground! But, the payoff comes when you are finished! Not only can you sit back and feel you have accomplished something, you can now sell that one item over and over again and you can feel good making money by helping other people accomplish something that is important to them!

If you do decide to write a book, check your local print shops for a good deal on printing them up. When you are dealing with a lot of copies, and we certainly hope that they sell big, it is much easier to leave the copying, folding and stapling to the experts! Then, all you have to do is collect your checks and address the envelopes!

So, use your imagination. Examine your unique talents. Look at what products are in demand. It really is the simple ideas that can change your life forever!

SELL A QUALITY PRODUCT AT A FAIR PRICE

I want you to keep in mind, and never ever forget - People will buy virtually anything! That is, as long as you are providing a quality product at a fair price, you can be a huge success in buying and selling! Look for products that people use on a day to day basis. Look for a unique idea that you think is in demand; or take an existing idea and make it better. Use your imagination and think about what kind of a service you would like to see and if it is something that you can put together on your own, go for it! Also remember this, if people are happy with your product, they will become repeat customers!

Now that you know what you want to sell, it’s time to package it and market it for the auction process. Here is where it takes a little bit of planning and care to get your items noticed. Next you’ll learn the techniques that will get your items higher bids on average than similar items. The things I will show you are simple, but they are very effective. It’s amazing to see ads on eBay that are totally horrible. Ads that have misspellings are the kiss of death for me. If a seller cannot spell correctly in an ad, you can't completely trust their ability to address the package correctly! Maybe I should write a whole new book on the importance of the spell checker!

WHAT CATEGORY DO I SELL IN?

First visit eBay and see what categories are available then click on a category that you want to market your product in. Now you will see sub categories. Now click on that sub category and see how many auction Items are in that category.

Also, by using the search capability on each page, type in a keyword related to what you will be marketing. You will receive a listing of all the items being offered on eBay in various categories. Click on an item and it will come up and right below the Title and item # you will see a link which states the category the item is offered in as shown below. This is an quick and easy way to find out what a proper category for your product(s) would be.

STILL NEED HELP DECIDING WHAT TO SELL?

As I just mentioned, if you want to sell something on ebay you have to know what is selling and for how much it's selling for. With "Hot Item Finder" software you can search and collect all the Hot Items for current as well as past auctions with the click of a button!

"How to Use Photos Effectively On Ebay to Increase Your Sales" by Jason James

It may be a cliché that a picture is worth a thousand words, but it is one hundred percent true! A simple picture included with your ad can increase your sales by over two hundred percent! Like I’ve said before, people are not comfortable bidding on an item unless they are absolutely sure what they are bidding on. A picture gives the buyer a strong visual image of what they are buying.

Take a look at the items that have the most bids in almost any category on the auction web site, and I’ll bet you that the ads that have pictures have more bids, and also have higher bids than the ads that don’t include a picture! It’s the simple fact that seeing is believing! Ok, so you're sold on an idea that a picture will help your item sell. Now your asking yourself, how do I get a picture up on the Internet? Well, that’s a good question, and this next section is dedicated to showing you exactly how to take a picture of your item and post it to the Internet.

STEP 1- GET THE PICTURE INTO YOUR COMPUTER

Ok, so this may be a no brainer, even for the novice, but there are a few different ways that you can accomplish this. The first is the old fashioned way, and that is to use a normal camera, take a photo, and then take it to your local photo shop and get it developed. Once you get the photo developed, you need to get the photo scanned into your computer. You can either buy a scanner at you local computer shop for approximately $80.00 and up, or you can take your photos to many local copy shops like Kinko’s and they can scan your photos for you, and save them on floppy disk or CD. Or, you can search eBay and see if anyone has a scanner for a fantastic price. Getting feedback as a buyer, also gives you the credibility that you need as a seller.

The other alternative you can use is a digital camera, which will take a photo and download it immediately to your computer. These cameras are great to use, and the prices have gone way down. You can find them under $100.00 now. Of course, if you can afford a high quality one, then you will have sharper pictures. A company called Tiger Direct has a great selection of digital cameras as very low prices.

STEP 2-PROCESS THE PHOTO

Ok, you’ve got your photo saved on your computer in either a .gif or .jpeg file. Next thing you may need to do is process the photo in a graphic program. Programs like Paint Shop Pro (http://www.jasc.com/psp.html) or LView Pro (http://www.lview.com) are available as shareware on the Internet. You can use them to do things like crop the photo using only a portion of the photo with your item. You can use them to adjust thing like the brightness and contrast of the photo, or even add some cool text over the photo to create the perfect ad! Programs like Adobe’s PhotoShop Elements is a full blown graphics program that will help automate tasks like processing photos and adding some cool effects to both your photos and your text. You dont have to process your photo at all if you don't want it. It will just look neater if you do.

Take a look at the photo of the item you want to sell. The first thing you need to do is crop the photo to only show the item that you are selling. Each program will do this fairly simply. You need to click on the tool that selects a rectangular area of your photo. You then need to draw a box only around the area you wish to keep, and then select crop command from the main toolbars image or edit menu.

Then you should go and adjust the brightness, contrast and sharpness of the image as needed. Try to get as much visible detail as possible. Remember that the better the picture is, the more bids you will get!

You can also add text directly over the picture of the item. This may or may not be useful for you, since you can type in as much text as you want before or after the image on web page. If you do want to add text, simply click on the text button, which is the "T" button in 99% of graphics programs, and select an area on your photo and type away!

STEP 3- POST THE PHOTO TO THE WEB

All right, the photo is taken, processed, and ready to be used in an advertisement on the auction web. The next step you have to do is to actually upload the picture to a web site. If you’re on AOL or a lot of other Internet Service Providers, you most likely have some web space allotted to you through them. You can check with your provider to find out how much space you have, and how to access it. There are also many auction friendly images hosting providers that provide image hosting for a small monthly fee.

You can get reliable image hosting for only $6.99 a month from a company called Onvia Photo Hosting for Ebay. Click this link to visit Onvia's website.

Once you have someplace to put your picture, you have to upload the picture. Upload, for those of you who don’t know, simply means to send that picture file from your computer to your web space. There are a variety of programs, which are called FTP programs that you can use to transfer files over the Internet. You can easily find them for download on the Internet from places like http://www.tucows.com or http://www.download.com

The program called WS_FTP is very popular, and easy to use. You can download a copy directly from the manufacturer by going to their website at: http://www.ipswitch.com/Products/WS_FTP

Once you have your FTP program, you simply log onto your server and choose the files you want to send to the web site. For example, let’s say that your picture file is called "auction1.jpg" and it shows the item you want to sell. You would start up your FTP program, choose the directory on your computer that your picture file is in, select your file "auction1.jpg" and press the button to transfer it to your web space.

There is a great tutorial on how to get started using FTP at: http://www.ftpplanet.com/tutorial

Entering the following text to your auction's description can now access your photo: (This is just an example..) http://www.yourhost.com/images/imagename.jpg

If you don't have a company name, just make one up!

Step Three: Once that is done, you simply have to confirm your new eBay account by checking your email. Simply click on the "Confirmation" link within the confirmation email to confirm your new account. This step confirms your request to sign up to buy and sell on eBay.
