"Headlines That Pull, Persuade and Propel!" by Michel Fortin

When writing direct response copy, there are a few things that can maximize the responsiveness of your message. The first and most important element that can turn any website, salesletter or ad into an action-generating mechanism is the headline.

A headline is meant to do two vital things.

First, it needs to grab your reader's attention. Realize that people surfing the web are click-happy. They tend to scan web pages quickly, even many of them simultaneously. Your site is but a blur. So, your headline must be prominent and effective enough to stop them.

Second, your headline needs pull the reader into the copy and compel her into reading further. To do that, it must cater to a specific emotion or a relevant condition -- one to which the reader can easily associate. Here's a list of "triggers," coupled with actual examples I used in the past:

Curiosity ("Revealed! Closely Guarded Secrets For ...")

Mystery ("The Five Biggest Mistakes to Avoid By ...")

Fear ("Over 98.4% of People End up Broke When ...")

Pain ("Suffering From Needless Back Pain? Then ...")

Convenience ("How to Increase Your Chances With ...")

Envy ("How Fellow Marketer Pummels Competitors By ...")

Jealousy ("They All Laughed When ... Until I ...")

Sloth ("Slash Your Learning Curve By 57% When ...")

Love, Lust ("Make Her Fall in Love With You With ...")

Shock ("Finally Exposed! Get The Dirty Truth On ...")

Greed ("Boost Your Income By More Than 317% When ...")

Pride, Power, Ego ("Make Fellow Workers Squirm With ...")

Assurance ("... In Less Than 60 Days, Guaranteed!")

Immortality ("Reverse The Aging Process With ...")

Anger ("Banks Are Ripping You Off! Here's Why ...")

By the way, most of these headlines were enormously successful for my clients, not because they were tested and tweaked (and most of them were), but because they were actually stolen from other, equally successful ads or salesletters. All "great" copywriters do this. They steal. They recycle. They copy. They model. They swipe.

And they adapt.

Of course, they must not be copied literally. (There's a big difference between plagiarism and modelling.) But they can be easily adapted to fit the market, the offer and the message. I have a large swipe file that contains copies of ads, websites, direct mail pieces and salesletters I come across. I then turn them into templates or "fill-in-the-blanks" formulas.

Study and model successful copywriting as much as you can. Dan Kennedy, my mentor and a hugely successful copywriter, teaches his students this exercise: buy tabloids, such as The National Enquirer, on a regular basis. Of course, the publication may be questionable for some, and it may not necessarily fit with your style or cater to your market.

But here's the reason why.

Ad space in tabloids is excruciatingly expensive. If an ad is repeated in more than two issues, preferably copy-intense ads or full-page advertorials, common sense tells you that the ad is profitable. Rip out the ad and put it into your swipe file. (If you don't have one, a shortcut is to copy someone else's, or swipe from proven list of successful headlines.)

Then, copy the headlines into a document. They can be easily converted into "fill-in-the-blanks" formulas. And believe me, they work well with almost all markets. I've tried these types of headlines on both low-end and high-end clients, from simple $10 products to six-figure investment opportunities. And they worked quite effectively in both situations.

The cosmetics of a headline is equally important if not more so. The type must be bold, large and prominently placed, even written in a different font or typestyle. It must "scream" at your readers. Don't worry if it's too harsh or too long. (My experience tells me that the longer headlines pull the most, even for professional clients or in conservative situations.)

Specificity is also quite important. The more specific you are with your headline, the better the response will be. Use odd, non-rounded numbers because they are more believable and pull more than even, rounded numbers. (In its commercials, Ivory Soap used to say it's "99.44% pure." Of course, that number is more believable than "100%.")

Whenever possible, be quantifiable, measurable and time-bound. For example, you're promoting some "how-to" marketing program. Don't say, "increase your income" or "make money fast." Words like "income" and "fast" are vague. Be specific. Say, "How six simple sales strategies helped me stumble onto an unexpected $5,431.96 windfall -- in less than 27 hours!"

The bigger the numbers are, the greater the impact is. If you say "five times more," replace it with "500%" (or better yet, "517%" or "483%"). Don't say "one year," say "364 days." The brain thinks in pictures, not numbers or words. Both "terms may mean the same thing, but one looks bigger.

Using some of the triggers mentioned at the beginning, here are some examples of being specific with your headlines:

"Nine Jealously Guarded Techniques That ..."

"Here Are 17 of My Most Prized Recipes For ..."

"How I Made $42,791.36 in Only 11 Days With ..."

"Boost Your Golf Drives By 27 Yards When ..."

"A Whole New Way to Lose 45 Pounds in 7 Weeks With ..."

"Marketing Toolkit Contains 35 Powertools That ..."

"Follow These Eight Magical Steps to ..."

"Read This 22-Chapter, 376-Page Powerhouse ..."

"The 10 Commandments of Power Positioning ..."

"Chop Paperwork By as Much as 47% When ..."

"Slash Your Learning Curve By Four Weeks With ..."

"... And Start Using Within Only 33 Minutes!"

My favorite headline formula is the "gapper," which is based on the pain-pleasure principle. In sales, it's referred to as "gap analysis." (Dan Kennedy calls it "Problem-Agitate-Solve." That is, you start by presenting a problem, you agitate your audience by making the problem "bigger," more significant and more urgent, and then you present your solution in the offer.)

With the "gapper," there's a gap between a prospect's problem and its solution (or a gap between where one happens to be at the moment and where that person wants to be in the future). But many prospects either do not know there is in fact a gap or, because it is one, naturally have a tendency to ignore it. It's simply human nature.

So, a headline that communicates the presence of such a gap -- or one that widens it (which can also be accomplished through other components, such as a surheadline, subheadline, "lift" copy, sidenotes or opening statements) -- will likely appeal to those who can immediately relate to it (i.e., people within that specific site's target market).

By opening the gap or widening it helps to reinforce a sense of urgency in the mind. After the headline, visitors will want to know how, by browsing further, they can close that gap. And the wider the gap is, the greater the desire to close it will be. Why? Because it appeals to stronger motives.

Abraham Maslow, the famous psychologist who developed the hierarchy of human motives, stated that the foundation of all human needs is our need to survive. Once satisfied, the next one is our need for safety. Our need to be with other people is next, followed by our need to feel appreciated. Finally, our need to be challenged is at the top.

The "pain-pleasure principle" states that people either fear pain (and try to avoid it) or crave pleasure (and try to gain it). When given a choice between the two, however, pain is a superior motive. Our need to survive and feel safe, which are at the bottom of Maslow's pyramid, rule over all other needs.

So, a headline that instantly communicates a problem (i.e., a painful situation or a potentially painful one that may arise without the benefits of your offering) will have more impact. People who associate with the message will feel compelled to read more, which also helps to qualifiy your readers -- it isolates the "serious" from the "curious."

You heard it before: there's a difference between "needs" and "wants." When I work with plastic surgeons, I often tell them to use as a headline, "Suffering from wrinkles?" That way, it pulls only qualified prospects into the ad because it appeals not only to people with wrinkles but also to those who suffer from wrinkles (i.e., they want to do something about them).

A web salesletter I recently wrote for Michael Murray talks about the fact that he is a college student stricken with cerebral palsy who's "made it" online. The copy and most of the headers use some of the triggers I mentioned earlier.

Below is a brief list. Can you identify them?

"SPECIAL REPORT! Want to cash in on ..."

"... But don't have a product or a website?"

"How a 'Physically Disabled' Teenager ..."

"Earn a $2,000-to-17,000 Monthly Downpour of Dollars ..."

"... On a Shoestring Budget!"

"Jealously guarded 'secrets' are finally revealed ..."

"Get your hands on dirt-cheap products to sell ..."

"You'll never have to create your own products!"

"... Model after actual websites 'making it' BIG TIME!"

"PLUS, for a limited time only, the next 500 orders ..."

"And if I can do it, I'm sure most 'abled' people can!"

Michael is a 19-year old with cerebral palsy. (I was moved by his story.) With his headline specifically, I used strategies to increase the attention factor. My biggest concern was the fact that people have become desensitized with opportunities of this nature. So, while I catered to people's emotions, I used Michael's disability as a psychological "hook."

Ultimately, ask yourself: "Does my headline effectively stop people from scanning my web page, capture their attention and trigger their emotions in order to pull them into the copy?" More importantly, ask yourself, "Does my opening statement beg for attention, arouse curiosity and genuinely cater to the motives and emotions of my market?"

If not, change your headline and try different ones. Sure, the change may be small and insignificant. But often, the smallest changes can create the most dramatic changes in your results.

"3 Resources that can help you decide what sells best on eBay" by Jason James

Determining what sells best on eBay may take some trial and error if you are not already stocked with merchandise or if you are unable to create your own product. What sells best on eBay for one person may not be what sells best on eBay for another.

So how can you use trial and error to discover great eBay products and/or services to auction off on eBay? Below are 3 tips of places where you can find merchandise, place it online, and then test your sales to determine what sells best on eBay for you.

1. Find items to sell at large wholesale discount stores like Costco. Places like this typically have a huge inventory of cheap items sold in bulk that you can resell on eBay. They offer such good deals on all kinds of merchandise like toys, grills, DVDs, etc. You will have unlimited new products to choose from with wholesale outlets like this in order to determine what sells best on eBay.

2. Dollar stores are probably the best way to buy cheap items and resell with little risk of loosing money when you test to find out what sells best on eBay. The quality of products sold in dollar stores range from very poor quality on up to 'diamonds in the rough'. I have seen the same products that I have purchased in a dollar store sold on eBay or at a swap meet for 10 times the original cost, not a bad profit!

3. Garage sales happen usually every weekend and there is a multitude of products that you can find to sell on eBay. What sells best on eBay from garage sales could range from antique furniture, to new or used video games, on up to old clothes.

Of course the above eBay product sources are just a few of the overall options available to you. They each are stock piled with product ideas that you can help you determine what sells best on eBay for your home based business.

"Using Drop Shippers on Ebay to Increase Profits" by Jason James

You may already be one of the thousands of Ebay business owners using online auctions to earn a living. While most people head off to work for someone else, you are living the American Dream of self-employment and making your dreams a reality. But are the long hours, dedication, and commitment adding up to the profits you hoped for when it all began? If not, you may wish to consider using drop shippers to increase those profits.

Drop Shipping Basics

Basically, drop shipping is where you sell a product for a company using online auctions or even your own website. Then, you pass along the order and the money owed for the item to the drop shippers and they process the order, package it using your company address and logo, and then ship it to your customer.

The customer never knows that anyone but you was involved in the transaction and you get to pocket the difference between your cost and that which you charged the customer. Pretty simple, right?

Drop Shippers Boost Profits

In all honesty, drop shipping and Ebay are perfect for one another. The high volume of the site and the ingenuity and tenacity of Ebay business owners help to sell a lot of products. But for people actually using auction sites like Ebay to earn a living, drop shippers are an absolute blessing because the help boost profits by increasing your productivity and efficiency.

Without drop shipping, an Ebay business owner must store, package, and ship the items they sell. Add to this the tasks of researching and buying products, responding to customer questions, and posting the items they sell to the Ebay website-and, well, it can make for a rather long day! But drop shippers take care of everything except selling the product which frees you up to find more products to sell and list them on your Ebay store.

Why spend your time on the logistical busy work when someone else will do it for you while giving you a great price in the process? The difference between wholesale and retail prices can be positively astounding with the sky being the limit as far as profits are concerned! Spend that time posting more items and finding better products instead and you will definitely see an increase in your bottom line and reduction of your stress level.

Minimal Risk

Using drop shippers carries almost zero financial risk on your part so you don't need to invest a large amount of money on something you are not familiar with. You carry no inventory and only pay the drop shippers when you yourself have been paid by a client.

Plus, few drop shippers ask members to pay a fee for selling their products. Those that do ask only a very small fee and that is probably because they know that they are really giving people a great deal by offering them the chance to buy their products at wholesale and resell them at retail. If you want to guarantee yourself a certain level of profit, simply set a minimum amount. Really, there is no down side here and everybody wins-especially you!

Drop shippers offer anyone the chance to make sound profits using Ebay auctions while at the same time taking care of the logistics involved in getting the product to the customer. Since the customer never knows that anyone else is involved in the transaction, you look great and very professional while boosting profits at the same time.

"What's Your Visitor's UPA?" by Michel Fortin

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of my students made me realize something important.

In fact, his point was so well made because he drove it home using the very idea he was illustrating. While his comment was general in nature, I realized how beautifully it applied to copy ... Particularly web copy.

But before I explain it to you, let me put the story in context so you can understand. In my Personal Selling class, we were discussing the natural human inclination to illogically and unconsciously assume that there is a parallel between a part and its whole -- even when the two are totally unrelated or irrelevant to each other.

I dub this human propensity as a UPA (or an "unconscious paralleled assumption"). For example, if you visit a website whose design is poor or unprofessional, or one hosted on a cheap or free server, people will naturally assume that the business or products behind it are the same ...

... Poor ... Unprofessional ... Cheap ... And so on.

The psychology behind UPAs is simply this: it's based on the fear of making bad decisions. Why? Because human nature dictates: we have a tendency to seek out the negative in whatever it is we are considering so to ensure that the decisions we are making are good ones.

For instance, when we are contemplating an offer on the web, we'll likely skim the website and the copy entirely (or at least a good portion of them) in order to make sure that the offer is legitimate. Is it telling us the truth? Is it trustworthy? Is it devoid of any "fine print?"

Anything contradictory in the slightest will push us away.

If something appears to be out of place for any reason (even if it's just a little thing like a typo, and goodness knows I'm guilty of making errors, too), we'll tend to leave the site quickly or in the very least feel uneasy.

I call this the "Ketchup Principle." It's the fact that you will remember the ketchup stain on a salesperson's tie more than you will his impeccable sales presentation or appearance. For more on this principle, click here.)

But appearances aside, UPAs, and especially poor ones, can also be the result of people not fully understanding the meaning of what is being communicated to them on a website. We can certainly read the text, understand the message and learn about the products.

But the question is, do we truly understand the meaning behind the message? In other words, does the message mean anything to us specifically? Is there a bad "meta-message" (i.e., a subtle nuance or indirect message that contradicts the sales pitch)?

Too many websites describe the products they are selling or use a language that only the sellers understand. More than likely, buyers in these cases do understand the content but they do not fully grasp what these products can do for them specifically.

Why? It's because the mind thinks in relative terms. Specifically, the brain processes information by visualizing what it's being told and comparing the given information to things it can relate to or understand.

Keep in mind, words are not messages. They are symbols.

OK, now that I've cleared that up, let's go back to the student's point mentioned at the beginning. At the end of my lecture, he turns to me, and then pulls out a chair and places it beside a class table. He asks, "Mike, what's the difference between this chair and table?" I said, "One is to sit on and the other is to write on." "No!" he shouted. "Not at all."

I was puzzled. "You're thinking in relative terms," he adds. "You are describing each individual product and its respective function, not the difference. The difference IS their function. Get it?"

Noticing that I was still perplexed, he continues: "What's the difference between a tennis ball and a soccer ball? Not that one is small and the other is big, or that one is yellow and the other is black-and-white, which is what most people will say. The difference is SIZE or COLOR."

I got it, now. And he made an excellent point. In this example, we are not really specifying the difference, we are only relating (or at best implying) the difference by describing or comparing the two.

As he explained so well, the mind thinks in relative terms.

That's why it's important to use picture words, comparisons, metaphors and analogies with your copy so that the mind of your readers can easily interpret and fully appreciate what is being communicated to them.

I call these UPWORDS (which stands for "Universal Picture Words or Relatable, Descriptive Sentences"). With the use of UPWORDS, people will understand and retain more. And of course, UPWORDS will also persuade visitors more effectively.

So, use analogies to which your audience can relate. Say that you're selling a computer backup device. To explain the main benefit of using a computer backup device, you can say this:

"This backup system will save you a lot of frustration and time if your computer ever malfunctions, which may lead to the loss of critical data you worked so hard to create and compile. It's like watching your favorite movie you waited for days to rent at your local video store, when suddenly your VCR dies and destroys the videotape, especially when an important scene in the movie was about to unfold. Now you have to return to the video store and perhaps wait again for the next time the movie becomes available. It's frustrating!"

Above all, think of your visitors, readers or prospects. Does your copy truly communicate in THEIR language? Does it explain the product you offer -- and particularly its benefits -- in relative terms?

If not, then the UPA you will create for your prospects will likely be one that will lead to disinterest, misunderstanding or frustration. They will unconsciously assume that there is a parallel between the quality of your message and the quality of your product let alone customer service!

Remember that the Internet lacks touch and feel. People cannot inspect products. Therefore, your copy has a great responsibility -- to replace the feelings your offer lacks and visitors want.

Ultimately, make sure the UPAs your visitors or prospects make are good ones. If you want them to assume that your business has good customer service and has a great product that's easy to use, then make sure your sales copy indirectly communicates the same.

"3 Drop-Shipping Secrets For Making More Money on eBay!" by Jason James

Dropshipping is a very profitable way to make money on the auction powerhouse eBay. People all over the world are creating home based businesses by using wholesalers, or also known as dropshippers, to make money on eBay.

Dropshipping is simply selling products for wholesale companies, sending them the address of the person who bought from you, and they ship the product to them.

This is an incredible opportunity, most times for the cost of a meal at a restaurant, to start a profitable eBay business.

However, because of the ease and profitability of using a dropship company there is extensive competition. eBay abounds with people using this home based business model to create a living for themselves. So, how do you get by the rest and shine as the one to buy from? There are three distinct secrets used by prominent eBay Powersellers.

1. eBay Dropshippers Know What's HOT!

The top income producers, or Powersellers, on eBay do their homework. They find out what is selling. But, not only that they research deeper to find out what's selling at the top prices.

Let's say for example, you have set up an account with a dropship company and have started an eBay seller account. Now what? Start looking at what's selling. Computers are always hot.

Go back to your dropshipper, look up what computers they offer, get some graphics and pictures, upload them to the product listing page on eBay and you're now selling computers.

Don't waste your time on items that only sell a few times at low prices.

2. eBay Dropshippers Know A Little Copywriting

The Internet, no matter what site you're on, is all about the written word. In sales, that means copywriting. Writing in order to reach a sale.

If you look at the most successful sellers they don't simply upload a picture and a few facts about the product.

They write to sell the product. Why? It was stated at the beginning of this article that the competition is plentiful. Everyone selling on eBay wants that person to buy their product not yours. So, the emphasis on copywriting, writing to instill an emotional desire to want your product, must be a priority.

Take some time to learn a little bit about good copywriting and how to construct a short, but exciting, sales letter.

3. eBay Dropshippers Live To Follow.

The absolute key to making money on eBay, with dropshippers or any other type of business model, is to follow up with your customers. Once they buy from you, that should not be the last contact you have with them.

Follow up with them. How are they liking the product? Is there anything else you can do for them? Have they seen the other auctions you have listed similar to the product they already bought?

A great way to stay in touch with your customers is to start collecting their email addresses, with their permission, and send them a special "sales flyer" of products you have listed, or other non-listed dropship items.

Want to make it big with eBay? Want to make big money with dropshipping? Follow these three Powerselling secrets today and watch your profits climb!

"How To Start Your Own Business and Travel First Class For Free " by Ralph Zuranski

Listen to the Interviews of the Leading Entrepreneurs in the World Who Are Heroes That Are Pursuing Their Dreams With Every Ounce of Strength and Faith.

Have you always dreamed of owning your own business, having the time and money to visit exotic locations and being able to fly first class?

If you love traveling, live in or near a city with a large national or international airport, and you have the kind of lifestyle that lets you pick up and go on a moment's notice, then you might want to think about starting your own business as an "air courier".

What is an air courier? It's a person who is hired to transport a specific item from one destination to another, within a specified deadline.

And, before you start imagining sinister men in trench coats carrying guns with silencers, and beautiful foreign women transporting secret microchips, let me reassure you that traveling as an air courier is 100% legal and aboveboard!

What you are asked to transport varies tremendously -- it can be almost anything -- legal documents such as letters or business contracts, children going from one country to another, medicine that was forgotten during a vacation, reports, computer disks, product prototypes -- the list is endless.

In fact, because of the "instant gratification" mindset today where we are used to information and communication that travels faster than the speed of light, air courier companies have seen their businesses grow tremendously over the last ten years. What that means for you is increased opportunities for free travel.

Who can become an air travel courier? Anyone who is over 18, holds a valid passport and who is in good health. It also helps if you're flexible and can pick up and travel on very short notice.

Why is this a wonderful opportunity?

When sending a package by air, the shipper has two options -- the first is to send the package as "cargo." Cargo travels alone (especially since the tragedy of 9/11), is shipped in bulk in large containers that usually aren't sent until the container is full, in order to maximize revenues for the airlines.

In addition, especially when cargo is sent overseas, there are sometimes long delays getting the package through customs, there are endless regulations that must be followed, inspections that must be passed, etc.

For the air courier companies, who have to make sure the package is not only delivered, but reaches the intended recipient as quickly as possible, these delays are unthinkable. (If they don't make their deadlines, then their competitors will. Think of the slogan from one such company..."when it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight...")

On the other hand, if the same item is considered "personal baggage" and is carried with a ticketed passenger, it arrives with the passenger, and generally passes through customs quickly, without all the delays.

Plus, a person can book a ticket for a specific flight arriving at their destination at a specific time -- not so for cargo. Which means that a shipment that could take days or weeks if it's classified as cargo, can take hours instead because it's classified as baggage.

Because very few of the air courier companies have the resources to employ full-time couriers, the industry itself has come to rely on freelance air couriers, which, even when having to pay someone to travel, and covering the cost of their airfare, is still a better ROI when compared against the paying full-time wages, holiday and sick pay, insurance and all of the other costs involved with having employees.

This is where you come in.

As an air courier, you are providing a valuable service in a growing market. And from the traveler's point of view, you might find yourself flying to Paris one day, and Hong Kong a week later!

Once you've been hired, the process is pretty simple: the company contacts you, to check your availability. When you confirm, they book the flight and let you know when to be at the airport. You're met at the airport by a representative, who gives you your ticket, a list of item or items you're transporting, and your baggage claim tickets. They'll usually even have checked you in, saving you many hassles. You get to sit in first class, and enjoy the flight. That's it. You don't have to contact the recipient in the city you're flying to, actually pick up the package on your way to the airport, or do anything other than be responsible for it going from one airport to another.

At your destination, you'll be met by another company representative, who will take the baggage claim tickets, and give you your return ticket.

How long do you get to stay? That depends on you and the air courier company. Sometimes your schedule will be tight -- you may only get hours between flights. Other times, you'll have a day or two. Obviously, as your reputation increases and the companies you work for know that they can rely on you, you have more room for negotiating.

There are several ways to get started. There are actually companies who recruit air couriers, and the fees for joining are usually nominal. The benefits of going through a certified company can be many. For example, they often provide information that it could take you a long time to figure out on your own. They also offer forums, newsletters and other resources to help you succeed. Because they have built a reputation, you might find it easier to get started in the business by working for one of them at first.

But, you can also find the information completely on your own, and start off freelancing. Look in the yellow pages for air couriers that are located near your local airport. Figure out where you'd like to travel to, and make a list of the locations they serve. Because there are companies who transport items both internationally or just within the states, where you travel is largely going to be a matter of personal choice.

Also, make sure that you investigate each company before applying with them. You want to make sure that they are a solid business, with a good reputation. Once you've narrowed down your choices, get on the phone, and find out what their application process is. Many companies today prefer that you apply online. Whatever the process is, make sure that you provide them with all the information they request.

Timely tip: After submitting your application, follow up with a thank-you letter, on your new "company" letterhead. Remind them of your availability, that you can accept short or no notice flights. Find a way to position yourself above that of the other couriers.

Once you've gone through the process the first time, you'll have a much better idea about which other companies you want to apply to and how to hone your interview skills. (So don't make your first application with the biggest company that you want to work for the most.) Obviously, if you limit yourself to one or two companies, you'll also be limiting the amount of work you'll get and the locations you can travel to.

Timely Tip: Put together a database of the companies you've applied to, the date you applied, and contact information. Follow up with the company regularly, but don't be a pest.

Once you've been hired, don't be surprised if you start getting calls within the first couple of weeks. There is a growing need for professional, responsible air couriers.

Here are some things to keep in mind when you start working:

1. Be professional. Remember that while shorts and flip flops may be comfortable for vacationers, you're working and representing the air courier company.

2. Often the only baggage you get to take with you is hand carried. Invest in microfiber clothing in basic colors, and learn to pack essentials only. If you do get to stay for longer than a few days, you can always pick up some essentials once you're there.

3. Give your own business card to the company representative in the country you travel to, and make sure that your email and voice mail information is included.

4. Apply to all the companies you've decided you want to work for, and then follow up with the ones that haven't contacted you regularly -- perhaps a polite letter or even a one-page newsletter that lists the latest on industry related news.

5. Stay organized. Don't over commit yourself, and try never to have to cancel a trip.

Being an air courier is a great way to make money and see the world. Bon Voyage!

"Part 3-- Who Wants To Be a Super Bad Guy: Overview of Who Wants To Be A Superhero, Episode Three" by Captain Biorhythm

In the next test, Stan checked their courage. "Courage...nerves of steel...is a superhero trait."

Stan says, "It's not easy to be a superhero." When he explains the contestants need to
cross the narrow wooden beam, to save the desperate woman on the roof, most candidates
freak out...look a little frightened.

Lemuria says she is afraid of heights. TyVeculus said he is not frightened because he goes
through six weeks of training to rescue people in the same situation as a fire fighter.
He divulges that he has seen people hurt and killed during the training, to add a little
more intensity to the challenge.

Saving the woman on the roof while blindfolded, with only a rope to guide them, was definitely
mentally, emotionally and physically challenging. It was a real test
of courage but not well-being. The wood beam the crossed was secretly placed on the roof.
The farthest they could fall was a few inches. Still, with a blowing fan held by Dark Enforcer
and the previous psychological programming, most believed they were perched above a deep chasm.
The use of the twin sisters really was a slick part of the major deception.

When Stan gives them the final task of the evening, he tells them to share with him who they
feel does not deserve to be a superhero. The big clue is that they are encouraged to do this in a
superhero manner. They must justify why they think the person is not superhero material.

Creature says she sees a room full of superheroes. She does not know what she is doing there.
She says she should be taken off the show. She does not feel like a superhero. She wonders
why she is not folding under the pressure but she wants to be a superhero anyway.

Major Victory says he should be eliminated and praises all the others.

TyVeculus says Lemuria lacks self-control, that she does not know when to give up.
She needs to understand her limitations because she jeopardizes everyone else.

Feedback feels like he is inhibiting everyone's ability to enjoy the experience. He
says he should be eliminated.

Lemuria says everyone has some qualities that she agrees with and some she doesn't.
She loves everyone. She volunteers to leave. Her intentions seemed a little contrived,
like she knew this was part of the test but not heart-felt.

Fat Momma does not want to make Stan's decision for him. She says that Feedback is so
hard on himself she is afraid he will snap. So for his own good, she recommends Feedback.

Stan called Fat Momma and TyVeculus onto the carpet because they pointed fingers
at other heroes. Stan believes real superheroes are willing to take the bullet
for their fellow superheroes. Self-sacrifice is an inherent part of being a real superhero.

Stan eliminated TyVeculus because he was unwilling to sacrifice himself for the others.
Later, in the post show interview, he agreed that he did not choose Lemuria for the right reason.
Their personalities clashed big time and there was a certain amount of personal animosity.

Fat Momma was not eliminated because she had true compassion for Feedback. She was really concerned about
his well-being and believed she was doing the right thing. And, by the way, she wants to be the winner
and would not jeopardize her goal. This decision placed her in a true dilemma.

Fat Momma is one of the most emotional of the candidates. She feels her spirit is broken because of the
elimination of TyVeculus, who helped and encouraged her so much. She believes Lemuria did not sacrifice
herself for the right reason. They butted heads earlier in the show when they claimed they would both
be the winner.

Lemuria may be way to conniving and disingenuous to win. She says Stan will have to do a lot more to outsmart her.

All the other superheroes were sad to see TyVeculus. He was one of the most liked candidates but failed to
rescue the little girl, lied about how much he liked his costume and divulged his real name. In his case
four strikes and you are out!

Next week should be interesting as the numbers continue to dwindle.

"eBay: A virtual land of opportunity" by Jason James

When you first take a quick glance, the ebay opportunities website looks like this big, complicated, and confusing animal that probably takes a seasoned Internet veteran to master. But that couldn't be further from the truth. Ebay opportunities exist for all skill levels.

Of course ebay is always growing and constantly improving but regardless of these endless changes, the basics can always be found and there will always be the same old ebay opportunities for you to take advantage of as both a seller and a buyer. So why do so many people look for ebay opportunities at this website? The answer is simple; because there are more computers sold on ebay than anywhere else. There are more cars sold on ebay than anywhere else. There are more toys sold on ebay than anywhere else. Shall I go on? The list of ebay opportunities goes on and on into any market that you can think of.

Deciding on which of the ebay opportunities to take advantage of is probably the hardest step in the process. Depending on whether you are buying or selling, there are plenty of ebay opportunities available to you.

Lets take 'automotive' for example. You might think that no such ebay opportunities exist for such a commonly person-to-person transaction - wrong! In fact, there is an entire ebay category dedicated to automobiles and auto parts. Both new and used cars are hot ebay opportunities now more than ever before.

We hope that this brief description of what awaits you at ebay has you excited to look for great deals or great sales to take advantage of.

"Part 2-- Who Wants To Be a Super Bad Guy: Overview of Who Wants To Be A Superhero, Episode Three" by Captain Biorhythm

The next big test was whether anyone would reveal their secret identity to Stan's restaurant plants...a
good looking waitress and waiter. The Number One Rule of being a Superhero is, "Never divulge your secret identity."

If people know your secret identity, how can you be a superhero. Your entire family is in danger
as well as your friends because villains will know who to target to destroy your life.

Superheroes and their secret identity allows them to express the two personalities that are
at war in every person's brain.Psychologists call it the right and left brain hemispheres.
The creator of the "Inner Game Of Tennis" Tim Gallwey called it "the Self One" and "the Self Two."

Superheroes and average people can achieve their greatest performance in every area of life
if they can integrate their brain hemispheres. The fastest way I know of is using both hands and clasping your hands together during extreme joy or sorrow. This activity immediately links your brain hemispheres together. You become a balanced being...a bioman or biowoman.

Under questioning, Feedback and Fat Momma were the only ones who did not reveal their true identities.

Creature told the cute waiter her real name first, without the waiter even asking. She thought he was sexy.

Major Victory told the waitress his real name. Later when he was confronted with the video of his dastardly deed, he labeled himself "Major Dumb Ass!"

Fat Momma did not give up her real name. In fact she stayed in character and told the waiter she goes around fighting real bullies. Now that takes guts to not give into social pressure to be just like everyone else, dress the same way and not make any waves.

Monkeywoman told the waiter her name was "AKA Mary." She offered up her secret identity without
even being asked. She also promoted acting websites and revealed she was an actress.

This resulted in her immediate expulsion when Stan confronted her.

She had originally told Stan she was a real estate investor. She lied because she wanted
to promote her acting career. She begged not to be eliminated but Stan would not relent.
She said, "I will miss everyone, but Monkeywoman will live on...somewhere." I guess she
is hoping to land a big fat acting contract for her exposure as a lying superhero.

Stan says, "Honesty is the number one trait of a Superhero. You need to be able to take
a Superhero's word to the bank."

"Your Real Goldmine Is Your Customer" by Ted Nicholas

Listen to the Interviews of the Leading Entrepreneurs in the World Who Are Heroes That Are Pursuing Their Dreams With Every Ounce of Strength and Faith.

The secret to success, in life and in business,
is to work hard at the margin. Relentlessly. Those
little marginal extra efforts will inevitably grow into
something big. Bill Bonner

''God is in the details''

What is your most valuable business asset?

What about your: Inventory? Equipment? Cash? Real Estate? Special process?
A Patent or Trademark? Employees?

The above are the answers most given by owners and company executives. But if
you answered any of the above you are...

Wrong!

The number one asset in any business is--

YOUR CUSTOMERS!

You can survive the loss of any business asset except your customers. Every
asset you have but one can be replaced. You would be inconvenienced and
possibly lose a lot of money. But, with your customer list intact, overnight
you could start over again.

It's truly amazing how few entrepreneurs fully appreciate the value of their
customer list. A relatively small percentage consistently act toward building
their database. And nurturing it.

It will cost you 5 to 10 times as much money to attract a new customer than to
sell to an existing one. Once fully understood, you can act towards
multiplying your success many-fold.

Here is the fastest ticket I know toward building a business that will provide
you great wealth…

Develop a strategy that will build a database of your best prospects. And, of
course, your customers. And contact them regularly.

Assuming those who have done business with you are pleased with their original
purchase, people who have bought something from you are your best prospects for
future purchases.

Your main business goal should be to create a customer list of happy customers.
Many of them will become raving fans who will recommend you to others. You
then can sell them a continuous flow of related products and experience
continuous growth and prosperity.

However, you have to start from scratch if you don't have a database now. The
first major task of new businesses and/or new products which have new markets
is to find interested prospects.

Clearly, you need a large enough group of people who have expressed some
interest in what you have to offer. You can sell to them directly. Or
contact them to visit your place of business.

In this issue I will reveal some strategies that will help you build your
database whether or not you now have a single customer.

You can make it complicated. But, as with all great truths, creating and
mining your database is basically simple.

It's shocking but true. Many--perhaps most--entrepreneurs have an incomplete,
sloppy, or even no database whatsoever of their customers and prospects.

Therefore, potential profit which is lost by not exploiting this opportunity
is truly staggering.

I view it this way. Whenever I think about new products or services in any
field, the customer database is my very first consideration. I want to be
very clear on how many people I have to whom I can send a regular flow of
sales messages.

Who are your key contacts?

For businesses with a limited number of prospective customers who can be
readily identified, here is the process. You simply create what I call
a ''key contact'' list.

You then contact this database. I recommend at least once a month. I've found
unless you are in regular communication with your customers and prospects,
they tend to forget about you. And rather quickly. The old saying ''out of
sight, out of mind'' is true.

You should ideally use a combination of personal contact formats. These can
include letters (through the post office or e-mail), postcards, telephone
contacts, and personal visits.

How do you create a prospect database when you are starting out?

Recently my son David, who is starting a new business, asked for my advice.
His proposed new product is a book he is writing. The audience is wannabe
musicians--music lovers who play an instrument and want to break into paid
''gigs'' to make money.

I recommended that David prepare a special report which contains proven and
valuable information to the aspiring musician. It would be offered free,
mostly on the Internet and also on mailing lists of music instrument buyers
and students.

The Special Report title (which is very important) would be something like:

Famous professional musicians reveal…

The 7 Most Important Secrets Which Can
Take You From Jam Sessions In Your Basement
To Highly Paid Gigs!

Those who requested the Free Report would then be offered the book, of course
on a paid basis. The book would contain the advice David and several well-
known professional musicians have for aspiring musicians.

Think the chances are good for the success of such a project?

You bet!

Tip: One key component to many successful database (mailing list) building
programs is the use of a valuable free gift. A well-chosen gift. If the gift
is really valuable, as it should be, psychologically your client often feels a
special type of obligation to do business with you as a form of reciprocation.

Examples of clients with database goldmines

Internet information marketer: Joel Christopher is a young, successful
Internet marketer (website: www.MasterListBuilder.com).

His strategy is to help his clients fill the biggest challenge of every
successful Internet marketer--how to build an enthusiastic opt-in list. He
offers seminars, books and tapes which deal with this topic. In a little
over a year he built his mailing list to over 110,000 people.

Art Gallery: Here is a successful regional business with just 757 art-
collecting customers on its database. The business prospers by sending a
letter, postcard, or e-mail each month inviting its customers and prospects
to its gallery. New artists as well as ''art clearance'' sales are featured.
When new prospects are brought as guests, they are asked to provide contact
information.

Restaurant: This highly successful Italian bistro invites each customer that
enters its door a free gift just for providing contact information. Gifts
successfully used are wine and brandy glasses, recipe books, and discount
vouchers. The mail list number is now over 20,000. Customers are invited
regularly to special ''invitation only'' dinners which are always fully
booked. I helped this great chef create a special individual voice (very
important) for all his communications.

These techniques are simple to plan and implement. Yet, not one in 1,000
restaurants does anything resembling this type of marketing.

Department Store: This family-run store located in the United Kingdom is
thriving, racking up over $100,000,000 in sales.

Of course, one of the biggest challenges in every business is to differentiate
itself from competitors, to create its own Unique Selling Proposition (USP).

In this case we did it with: (a) a new ''voice''; (b) in the inimitable style
and vocabulary of the department store founder; and (c) fantastic customer
service and, most importantly, the use of free gifts to build its mailing
list. Every single customer is asked, ''Would you like to join our mailing
list and be the first to receive news about special sales and other
information?'' The mailing list number is now over 250,000 customers.

The mailings, brochures, and offers from this company are producing truly
outstanding results--over 15% of sales.

Vitamin Supplements: This European company markets its products primarily
through direct consumer mailings. Formed in 1997 with zero capital, sales
currently exceed $50,000,000 and is highly profitable. The mailing list size
of customers and prospects is approximately 165,000. A website will soon be
added to help boost its database and revenues.

Equipment Supplier: This company sells high-priced specialized equipment, a
relatively small target market of just 357 existing and prospective customers.
Ninety percent of its sales arise from just 65 of its database. The marketing
strategy is relatively simple and inexpensive. Each month a postcard, letter,
e-mail, phone call or personal visit is made with each person on the list.
This strategy produces a steady and profitable stream of new business.

The above examples are but a few of the organizations I've worked with.

In each example, the result of regular contacts, each one containing an
interesting and informative sales message, generates a constant flow of new
business.

Most entrepreneurs do not contact customers often enough. I didn't myself
for several years.

Why?

Frankly, I was so good at getting new customers by simply writing new ads and
mailings. Without realizing it I was practically ignoring existing customers.

In hindsight I left a lot of money on the table. But the biggest losers were
my customers who didn’t receive enough important information which could have
helped them more than I was able to do with a few contacts.

I used to be concerned about contacting my database too often. But this is a
fallacy. Don't worry about offending customers with too many contacts. Indeed,
properly done your customers will love you for keeping them informed with
product and service information, special offers, as well as new developments
in your field.

Without a doubt, you will own a goldmine by building your own database that is
carefully developed and nurtured.

Kind regards,

"Part 1-- Who Wants To Be a Super Bad Guy: Overview of Who Wants To Be A Superhero, Episode Three" by Captain Biorhythm

Without super villains, superheroes have a hard time defining who they are, what they believe and what they do and why they are doing it. Batman needed the Joker, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, the Joker, Catwoman and all the other villains to have a purpose and a reason to exist. Each villain required a different approach, physically, emotionally and intellectually.

The development of the Dark Enforcer character appears to be a part of Stan's script. It is humorous to see the Dark Enforcer absorb the light and spread darkness.

Dark Enforcer, as the consummate villain, blames others for his problems and refuses to accept the responsibility for his own actions. It seems villains see themselves as the good guys. They are able to justify anything they do because they are fighting against those they perceive as bad. Any action is okay because the end result always justifies the means from their warped perspective.

The reactions of the other contestants were very interesting after Dark Enforcer said none of them deserve to be on the show and they are all jokes. He accused all of them for attacking him. He said he would not be anyone's punching bag. His final warning was, "Watch your backs."

Feedback said, "I will go through anything to win."

Dark Enforcer tells him, "You are going to go down."

Tyveculus felt betrayed.

Stan warned everyone that, "Twists and turns are around every corner. Everyone needs to be on their game. Nothing will be as it appears."

The passions heated up after the revelation of Dark Enforcer's betrayal. Lemuria told Fat Momma that she wants to be the winner and for her to "Kiss my brown ass." This does not appear to be superhero comportment. Will Lemuria be the female super villain "Airumel (Lemuria spelled backward)?" She looks like a good match for Dark Enforcer. They appear to hate each other.

Fat Momma told everyone she wants to be friends with each superhero candidate even when they don't win. She believes she will be the winner but also wants to have good relationships with all those who did not make the final cut.

"Momentum: Why Statues Never Win Foot-Races, And How Motion Leads to E-Motion... Which Leads to Action" by David Garfinkel

Consider the humble hoola-hoop.

Sitting in a garage by itself, it's little more than than a large ring of plastic.

Put around the waist of a person who's willing to set it in motion, the hoola-hoop is a wonder to behold.

Just as long as...

... the hoola-hoop wearer keeps moving in the direction that makes the hoola-hoop spin.

So it is with copy. Have you ever thought about it?

Most people don't. That is why their copy is so perfectly clear... and explanatory... and dull.

Dull doesn't do it... not when you're trying to get prospects to take action, that is.

Here's a tip you may have never fully realized before:

Good copy is not: ... static... lethargic... motionless.

No. Good copy is: ... dynamic... energetic... kinetic.

In simple words, that means copy is in motion.

It starts in motion... and because it keeps going, right to the last word, it has momentum.

When people perceive or imagine motion, they get emotional. Think movies. Think a rousing, stemwinder speaker. Think of a large bear coming out of nowhere, running straight towards you.

Emotion: Fear

Motion: Running to safety

You don't need to scare people like a bear to get them emotional and prompt them to action. But you are well advised to get them to picture motion in order to emotionally motivate them to take action.

Here are some ways:

* write descriptive language to get your prospect to imagine using your product or service.

* talk about the actions taken by you, your company, or your client (if you're writing copy for someone else) that were necessary to bring the product or service to market

* ask the prospect to take the specific action you want them to take

Notice I do this, at the end of every post on this blog, because the action I want you to take is to subscribe to my World Copywriting Newsletter.

I write, "To subscribe, click here."

Does it work?

Of course!

But not just because I ask for action. The other reason it works is because I follow the same principles myself that I just outlined for you.

Remember: If you can keep their brains in motion, their hearts and fingers will follow.

"Part Four: Change the World By Teaching Young People To Discover Their Own Heroic Potential" by Ralph Zuranski

This is Part Four of the article appeared in the Coronado Eagle-Journal Newspaper on August 9, 2006

The only effective solutions to social problems are those
created by the residents who are intimately involved and
understand what is needed…community activitism. The media is
finally delivering uplifting news about good people making a
positive difference in the lives of their neighbors.

After 13 years, the “In Search Of Heroes Program” official
“Heroes-In-Training Course” will be available in September
2006 in Coronado. Some of the original visionaries have
volunteered to take program and community to the next level
of success.

After four years of interviewing over 40 of the richest and
most successful entrepreneurial heroes, Ralph discovered
that Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” was the one most
important book that helped them achieve their dreams. Ralph
purchased the book and read it cover to cover. He searched
for and found a “public domain” copy that he updated and
transformed into a superlearning extravaganza.

Napoleon Hill said Andrew Carnegie believed that if young
people were taught his secrets, their time in school would
be cut in half. Having a community “Master Mind” group is
the most powerful force for creating incredible success.

The eighteen week course will involve a complete reading of
the book with the help of a glorious PowerPoint presentation
using beautiful scenes from nature and physics. It will be
free and open to Coronado residents, students and their
family members. Space will be limited. Sign up instructions
will appear in the Eagle-Journal in August.

Come learn the two secrets that were never revealed in the
“Think and Grow Rich” books that are currently available on
the market. These two secrets are so mind-boggling and
earth-shattering…no wonder they were surgically removed for
the printed versions.

Humanity hangs in the balance. Come learn why spreading
“good news” and focusing on positive thoughts is more
important now than ever before. If we don’t take Napoleon
Hill’s secret advice, your dreams may never become reality.

Buying items by the pallet to resell to the ebay marketplace" by Jason James

Some product suppliers will purchase salvaged merchandise that is in such large quantities that they resell the items to you by the pallet that you can take and flood the ebay marketplace with. This type of transaction is often made by a 'liquidator' and you can go online to fine one nearest you.

This may not be the most secure way to find quality products to resell to the ebay marketplace but if you are willing to take the risk then it just may be worth it. Often times you are rolling the dice when buying a pallet full of stuff because there is no guarantee of what quality is inside.

While you may loose money by selling some of those items to the ebay marketplace, you might also make that money back with other products from your pallets. The key is to make sure that the majority of stock from the liquidator has what you want to sell to the ebay marketplace. This can only be done by working with one supplier for a few rounds and properly checking them out.

Here are a few tips of things to check out when looking for a liquidator:

1. Find out if they are selling to mostly flea markets. If this is the case then you may not want to buy these pallets because the quality may not exist. The ebay marketplace is looking for both quantity and quality.

2. Find out how long the liquidator has been in business. Find out exactly where he gets his products from. If the company does not want to reveal its sources then you may not want to purchase these pallets for resell to the ebay marketplace.

3. Last but not least, check for references. This is an obvious step in deciding to work with most anybody but a lot of people ignore it.

"Part Three: Change the World By Teaching Young People To Discover Their Own Heroic Potential" by Ralph Zuranski

This is Part Three of the article appeared in the Coronado Eagle-Journal Newspaper on August 9, 2006

Comic book writers, artists and publishers were focusing on
strong, positive, powerful messages that encourage honesty,

innovation and perserverance. The Sci Fi TV Channel teamed
up with Nash Entertainment to produce a reality show, “Who
Wants To Be A Superhero?” The focus is on real humans doing
good things for others and working to become a better
person.

The ABC Family channel is producing a TV series named,
“Fallen,” based on the hit books by Tom Sniegoski. It is a
classic battle of good versus evil that chronicles the
pehnomenal journey of an 18-year old who struggles to come
to terms with his newly discovered identity. He is drawn
into a world where angels---good and evil---walk among us.

Durning the panel, Paul Wesley, shared how angels saved his
life right before a car crash. He woke up from a deep sleep
and felt impelled to put on his seat belt. 5 minutes later,
his friend lost control and the car rolled 8 times. He
believes that if his guardian angel had not intervened, he
would have died in the wreck.

Deepak Chopra and his son Gotham, Grant Morrison and Larry
Lieberman in their comic book series “Virgin” promoted the
idea superheroes should inspire people to evolve to the next
level of peace and spirituality. Deepak and Grant, in their
panel discussion, stated that the new generation of heroes
should exhibit the qualities of love, passion, courage,
compassion, self-lessness, emotional stablility, creativity
and intuition. They should be able to transform themselves
and others in a good way, have the power of intention and
transcend their own weaknesses.

NBC-Universal Studio is producing “Heroes,” an epic drama
that tells the stories of the lives of ordinary people who
discover they possess extraordinary abilities. Their stories
focus on important social issues like drug addiction,
fractured families and overcoming the evil that is working
to destroy our world.

The TV programs and movies like Batman, Superman, Spiderman,
the X-Men are sending a message of courage and social
responsibility. The TV, movie studios and comic artists,
writers and publishers are to be applauded in their efforts
to inspire young people to make a positive difference in
their local communities.

"Selling cars and car parts on eBay" by Jason James

"After I found out what my friend Brian was doing with all of those car parts he was buying from the store and then shipping them off for money, I was hooked..."

This may come as a surprise to some of you but did you know that Ebay has a section devoted completely to cars and auto parts? It is the automotive ebay motor section and it rocks! Who would have thought that there was such an enormous market for automobiles and car parts that ebay had so create an automotive ebay motors section.

One tactic that some ebay sellers use with the automotive ebay motors category is to frequent junk yards and wreckage sites to pull out old car parts. Those people then clean up the junked car parts and auction them off on the automotive ebay motors section for big profits.

Can you sell cars on ebay? Yes, amazing as it sounds you sure can sell cars with the automotive ebay motors section of the website. Since ebay is such a well trusted and reliable source to sell products online most people have flocked to buying used cars from the automotive ebay motors category.

There is also help that ebay provides for you to help complete your car sales and your car parts sales through the automotive ebay motors section. They offer help with calculating insurance needs, one click access to carfax reports, Department of Motor Vehicle and Escrow services, and the automotive ebay motors section also helps you determine vehicle shipping quotes from auto shippers that are dependable.

"Part Two: Change the World By Teaching Young People To Discover Their Own Heroic Potential" by Ralph Zuranski

This is Part Two of the article appeared in the Coronado Eagle-Journal Newspaper on August 9, 2006

Laura Neale actually was one of the winners. Her character
was named “Flex.” She proved to be a real heroine after her
back was horribly broken when her car was hit by a drunk
driver at the intersection that was the epicenter of the
Northridge Earthquake at 4:30 am, on January 17, 1994.

After 12 hours of surgery to place two steel rods on either
side of her spine, she was placed in a body cast and
required to walk one hour each day without any pain
medication. A couple weeks later, Laura appeared at the
“Good Guys Comic Book Kickoff at Mile High comic store on
November 27th. She missed the gala event at “Disneyland” the
day before because of the severe pain, but refused to stay
home when she knew her fans were expeciting “Flex” to sign
autographs.

A couple of months later, while still in her body cast,
Laura’s family were terrified by the Northridge Earthquake,
but survived without serious injury. As TVs flew across the
room and dressers toppled over, spilling the clothes on the
floor, Laura was not concerned about herself…only her
family.

The Coronado journalism and multi-media were so impressed
with this family’s triumph over their incredible ordeals,
they interviewed the entire family at Peohe’s Restaurant.
Jason Bean from Coronado Cable Vision was kind enough to
videotape the entire interview. The questions posed by the
students were thoughtful and often times difficult. The
answers were emotional and in many cases astounding.

Many of the students experienced an epiphany. They realized
the real heroes are family members, next door neighbors,
teachers, coaches, spiritual leaders and often young people
their own age. Their interviews of the stars of Baywatch and
Jonathan Frakes, Commander Riker of Star Trek the Next
Generation, clearly proved this point.

Gregory Alan Williams, a African American policeman on
Baywatch and real life hero, saved a man’s life during the
LA Riots. He really nailed the definition of a hero when he
said, “There is a little bit of good in the worst of us.
There is a little bit of bad in the best of us. When we
reach out to help someone else, in that moment, we are
heroes. The real heroes are those who help others quietly,
without any fanfare or publicity, every day of their lives.”

Ralph Zuranski and Captain Biorhythm were both encouraged by
what they discovered the the San Diego Comic Convention. It
was now a family event governed by “PG Standards…safe and
enjoyable for the entire family.

Even the US Post Office along with DC Comics jumped on the
superhero bandwagon with the first issue of superhero
stamps. Even Mayor Sanders showed up for the official
unveiling of the gorgeous stamp collection.

"The Right Wholesalers Help Your Ebay Business" by Jason James

Starting up your own Ebay business is not difficult but making it into a successful venture that can help you save towards retirement and achieve your other financial goals can be a bit more challenging. Tenacity, hard work, determination, a bit of luck, and the right wholesalers are all useful in establishing your Ebay business.

Taking the Next Step

Most people enter into the Ebay business universe by selling off some of the things they already have. This is a great idea because it allows sellers to learn the ropes of Ebay auctions while generating some revenue. But, there will always come a point when you don't have any more things from your household that you want to part with.

In order to sustain your Ebay business and grow to the next level, you are going to have to find more things to list in your online auctions. Some people decide to hit the flea market and antique store circuit in hopes of finding rare deals that they can snap up and turn a nice profit on by turning around and reselling the item through their Ebay business.

While this is indeed a viable route to take if you are selling older items or collectibles, there are some drawbacks to this approach. First, this is a time consuming and rather inefficient way to secure the merchandise you need to keep the online auctions rolling. Secondly, there are more and more people using Ebay for the same purposes as yourself so it is getting harder to make a profit using this approach because prices are being driven upward.

This is why you should consider selling new merchandise with your Ebay business. For one, you need not put in the leg work or time that you would trying to make the rounds at smaller shops. All you need to do is place an order and have a place set aside to store the merchandise until selling it.

Finding the right wholesalers can really make the difference between a successful Ebay business and one that only brings in some extra income into the household. There are people who buy dresses and clothing from wholesalers and turn around and sell them on Ebay for very substantial profits.

But to do this, you need to find wholesalers that can supply you with the quality of product you want at the cheapest prices possible. Unlike drop shippers who merely take an order and the money from a customer and pass it on to a wholesaler who turns around and ships the product directly to the customer, you have to take care of the packaging and shipping tasks. Therefore, you need to make as much profit as possible to compensate for your time and effort.

This means that you will not only have to do a lot of homework to find the absolute best deals possible, but you also have to guard the secret of your source so that others conducting their own online auctions don't undercut you. But when you find the right wholesalers-the money just starts rolling in! Just be careful what you wish for because the bigger your Ebay business becomes, the more effort and stress it takes to sustain it!

"Part One: Change the World By Teaching Young People To Discover Their Own Heroic Potential" by Ralph Zuranski

This is Part One of the article appeared in the Coronado Eagle-Journal Newspaper on August 9, 2006

Who could have imagined the 1993 Coronado "In Search Of
Heroes Program" would have such a beneficial impact on
society? It created an entirely new, revolutionary social
perspective on “What is real heroism?”

The goal was to to help young people realize they have
heroic potential and that the real unsung heroes in society
are the moms, dads, grandparents, teachers, coaches,
spiritual leaders and local entrepreneurs who make a
positive difference in their lives...one day at a time.
There is no question our military, police, firemen who
protect our way of life, are also heroes.

Coronado visionaries Larry Wade and Dean Eckenroth from the
Eagle Newspaper, Dr. Jeff Davis, Dr. Margaret Wright, Diane
Peruse and Chris McClung from Coronado High School, Ron and
Vicki Beaubien, Ron Tretiak, Bill Sandke, Steve McMahon from
Coronado Cable Vision, Ken Roe, Manager at Peohe’s
Restaurant, Jim Laslavic from KNSD TV and members of the
Coronado Chamber of Commerce and Rotary joined forces to
teach the high school journalism and multi-media classes the
true meaning of heroism.

This may have been the beginning of the the social heroes
movement that is sweeping the country today. USA Today
recently featured a front page article titled "Volunteer
Rates Hit Record Numbers!" Newsweek just published an expose
on social volunteerism in their article “The Giving Back
Awards.”

Ralph Zuranski, creator of the “In Search Of Heroes
Program,” attended the 37th San Diego Comic Convention as
his alter-ego hero character Captain Biorhythm. The goal was
to search for real life heroes at the event he could
photograph and interveiw for the Coronado Eagle-Journal
Newspaper.

This was to be his victory tour that began in 1993 when he
took cub reporters to the 24th Comic Con to have them
interview the world’s greatest comic book writers, artists
and publishers. The first two heroes-in-training, David
Ganong and Laura Neale, participated in Jim Shooter’s
Defiant Comics “Good Guys” Comic Book Contest. The goal was
to create comic book characters based on the lives of real
young people.

"Episode Two Of 'Who Wants To Be A Superhero' Was A Real Shocker and Eye-Opener" by Ralph Zuranski

Who would have imagined that Iron Enforcer was a secret "Super Villian." The subtle clues were there for everyone to see from the very beginning. I could not believe he would last very long as a contestant, because everything he did from the beginning was the anti-thesis of a real superhero. He did not succeed at any of the superhero tests...failed miserably over and over again.

When asked, "Would it kill you to use some antiperspirant?" his response was in sync with his evil personality. He said he doesn't care what the others think of him...so long as he wins. He feels superior to the other contestants and even called them "pinheads."

When Iron Enforcer was asked about his possible steroid use he said, "It's O.K. to use them to accomplish ‘something positive.'" He is obviously filled with self-destructive pride that seeks self-glorification at any cost. Pride seems to be the major mistake that has caused most of the major crimes and human suffering from the beginning of time...supernatural and human.

I wonder if he will be thrilled when he gets cancer or some weird disease because of a mega hormone imbalance. He believes he has the best body of all the contestants and does not want to make friends - just win!

In the dog test, Iron Enforcer, gave up unexpectedly one step from door…for no particular reason. He ridiculed Creature about laughing and not making her goal. He said he wants to be known for his spiritual qualities. I wonder if that is the "Devil incarnate?"

Creature was asked when she last washed her hair. She said her superpowers are stored in her hair. She feels "empty and powerless" when she washes it. I wonder how long someone can go with unwashed hair before it becomes a nest for evil insects. She also failed the human-dog tug of war and laughed every step of way. She explained that, "Fear brings out her laughter."

Fat Momma and Major Victory, the former male stripper, were asked if their characters were good role models for young people. They both were offended by the question. Both believe that it is your attitude and your desire to help others that is important.

Major Victory said he hoped kids realize stripping "is wrong." Major Victory did blow everyone away when he carried both dogs, one on each arm, to the door. He had the quickest time.

TyVeculus's was tested when he received a new superhero costume that was not what he expected. TyVeculus did not like it, but he told Stan he did. The new costume did look like a character from "The Warriors of Plasm" comic book series that was popular around 1993 from "Defiant" Comics Company. TyVeculus actually cut the feathers off his hat after Feedback ridiculed him.

TyVeculus was embarrassed when almost all of the other superheroes laughed at him.. When he went back to meet with Stan, to tell the truth, he was embarrassed at his dishonesty. TyVeculus worried that Stan would eliminate him because he did not like costume and lied directly to Stan's face.

After his meeting, Stan allowed him to wear his original costume.

TyVeculus did shine when he faced the dogs. He had no problem fighting his way to the back door, dragging the dogs with him. He said it was easy for him because he faces danger on a daily basis as firefighter.

The dogs overpowered Lemuria, Cell Phone Girl, Fat Momma, Creature and Iron Enforcer.

Lemuria was dragged back to where she began. Stan said that in times of crisis it is important to have a strategy.

Cell Phone girl said she had a horrible headache and lasted 4 seconds. I think she quit so early because she suffered a major dog bit when she was younger. The fear of being bitten by a dog can be terrifying...two dogs even more so. Stan asked her that if she has a headache, is that a good enough excuse to not do what needs to be done? In light of her previous dog bite, this may have been a little harsh, even though she had run out of “cell phone minutes.”

Fat Momma failed to distract the dogs by tempting them with donuts. After she surrendered, the dogs eat the donuts anyway.

Monkey girl wanted to make Stan proud. She blew everyone's minds when she would not give up until she made it all the way to door. It took her over 9 minutes of battling hard-biting dogs. It was truly a courageous performance.

Feedback was chastised because he ridiculed Ty'Veculus's new costume. He said the helmet looked like it was a fan...Stan's biggest fan. Ty actually cut the feathers off the helmet. Stan told him, "Heroes do not make people feel worse."

It will be interesting to see how miserable "Dark Enforcer" makes everyone else. It appears he has found his true calling as a Supervillian.

"eBay Drop Shipping is the Future" by Jason James

We all pretty much know that Ebay is this Internet phenomenon that is making billions of dollars by hosting online auctions. Basically, people post things they want to sell and buyers browse the site for the things they want to purchase. Eventually, buyers and sellers meet up and the bidding process begins. But, the Ebay business website is also a place where drop shippers come to unload their wares as well.

Drop Shipping Basics

The term has started to catch on in the mainstream but there are still a lot of people out there that don't know exactly what drop shipping actually is. Basically, drop shipping is sales. Let's say that company A sells product X. Now company A does not sell directly to the public but you can buy their products at stores around the country.

But stores, like the Ebay business machine, operate to make a profit. Therefore, they must charge more than they paid for the product in order to make their profit. So, they either buy the product X directly from the manufacturer or from a distributor at wholesale price and then turn around and sell the product at retail price. The difference between those two prices is their profit.

In drop shipping, you become the retailer. The interesting thing about drop shipping is you do not need a store or even an inventory to sell your products. With the help of the Ebay business machine, you actually don't even need a website either.

Drop Shipping Mechanics

So how exactly does drop shipping work? First of all, you find a wholesaler that is selling products you are interested in reselling to the public. After setting up an account with them, they send you product descriptions of all their products or at least those you are interested in selling. If you do not have a website, you can post these product descriptions on the Ebay business website.

When a customer decides to buy one of your great products, they place an order and send their payment (including shipping costs) to you via credit card. You pass this order along to the wholesaler along with your payment.

The great thing about being a drop shipper is that this is where your involvement ends! The wholesaler then processes the order and then ships the product directly to your customer-but with your company name on the packaging! The customer never knows that they are actually receiving the product from a wholesaler and you are pocketing the difference between the wholesale and retail price! Could it possibly be any simpler?

By using Ebay to advertise your products and benefiting from their incredible traffic flow, you are really reaping the whirlwind at almost no cost and with very little effort. And since retail price is roughly double that of wholesale, just imagine the profits you can make drop shipping! No store to maintain, no inventory to worry about, and no large investment of money-this, friends, is the miracle of drop shipping and why it is definitely the future! There are literally thousands of companies looking for people to sell their products so there are opportunities everywhere right now! By using Ebay, you could literally be selling products within a day and making huge profits so don't delay-start your drop shipping business today!

"How to Capture and Captivate Attention!" by Mike Fortin

Listen to the Interviews of the Leading Entrepreneurs in the World Who Are Heroes That Are Pursuing Their Dreams With Every Ounce of Strength and Faith.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One morning, you go into your mailbox and discover there's an envelope waiting for you. You bring the package into your living room, tear open the envelope, pull out what's inside, put on your reading glasses (if you wear any), unfold the letter and begin to read the contents.

Now, after completing all of these steps, you then quickly glance at the letter to decide if the sales letter is worth reading.

If not, you throw it in the garbage.

But if the envelope looks like a form letter, with a printed address label with "dear occupant" as the addressee, chances of getting the letter opened in the first place are obviously slim.

However, let's say the envelope works, curiosity takes over and the letter does get opened. Once unfolded, though, if it looks like some kind of sales pitch, not even a single word will likely be read. Into the garbage it goes.

So, the point is this: in offline direct mail marketing, the message is not the first element to be read. There are several extra steps one must go through in order to finally reach, react to and ultimately read the sales message.

That's why, in order to capture people's attention, one of the important elements of direct mail copy -- i.e., the headline -- albeit a crucial component of good sales copy, is the last in a series of attempts to captivate the reader's attention and "pull them into the pitch."

But the envelope, the label, the picture and any "grabbers" (such as any inserts, liftnotes, gifts, etc), even the overall appearance of the package, are all elements that often precede that all-important headline.

Online, however, it's different.

The headline is almost always the first element to be read. When people click on a link, enter a URL into their browser or receive an email in their inboxes, they immediately see the headline (or subject line with email).

Online, there are no mailboxes to go through, no envelopes to tear open and no unfolding to do before reading it. These steps are nonexistent. The sales message and especially the headline are right there, in their faces.

Look at websites as newspapers. You don't get a newspaper for free. Most often, you actually seek the newspaper out. You make the effort to buy it. You voluntarily acquire the "message," ready to read it.

The web is the exactly same.

Whether it's receiving an email you're subscribed to, or visiting a website you intentionally clicked on or entered into your browser, you are directly visiting the message with the full anticipation of reading it once you're there.

You're in a different state of mind when reading the newspaper than when reading, say, a direct mail piece, which is often unsolicited. (Even when the piece is solicited, the steps one must go through, from mailbox to sales pitch, is the same. In other words, there are many of them.)

A newspaper, on the other hand, is already open, with the front page message right in front of you. It's filled with photos and bold news headlines, ready to grab your attention and build your interest.

Like the newspaper's "above the fold" section, if the uppermost section of an email or website's front page don't pull you into the copy (and causing you to scroll further, in this case), you will simply click away. And you would do so faster than you would throw a direct mail piece into the garbage!

And like newspapers, you don't read websites. Instead, you scan.

If you're like most people, you skim through the newspaper to look for stories that interest you. And you do so by quickly checking the headlines, pictures and any column headers that the newspaper contains.

Plus, you can manipulate a print publication in order to fit your reading style. You can spread it out on a tabletop, where stories that interest you are easily and quickly accessible. That way, you can scan an entire piece or newspaper at a single glance.

On the web or with email, you can only do one thing: scroll. So, the desire to scan, jump and react to a message is greater and more immediate than a printed piece. Therefore, in order to capture the reader's attention, there are several things you can do to drastically boost readership.

Here are some ...

The first part of the famous AIDA formula, or "Attention," is probably more important on the Internet. Crafting a great headline that immediately captures the prospect's attention is critical to your message's success.

Again, for the reasons expressed earlier, our attention span on the Internet is enormously short. You only have a fraction of a second to capture a reader's attention. Unlike the different steps one must follow with a direct mail piece, your web page headline is the first thing they see.

If the prospect hits your front page and does not immediately feel a need to read any further, she'll leave at the single click of a mouse. No second thoughts. No wasting time. No hesitation.

The rest of the AIDA formula goes straight down the tubes.

Writing headlines (including sur- and sub-headlines, also called "subheads") requires an entire book of its own. So, for the sake of brevity, I suggest you read one of my previous articles, Secrets of Successful Headlines.

But for now, let's stick to the idea of top copy, openers and introductions. When it comes to web copy openers, there are three groups of "three's."

Called "goals," "desires" and "teasers," they are specific human qualities to which you can cater in order to increase the attention factor in your opening copy, be it with the headline, subheadlines, grabbers or introduction portion of the body copy. Use them, are your readership will increase.

a) The Three Greatest Human GOALS

From the headline to the opening copy of the letter, one very effective way to capture attention is to focus on three core goals almost all humans have, which are to either save or make 1) time, 2) money or 3) energy.

If your copy opens with something that can help your reader to make more money, save more time, work less and so on, for example, your chances of having your copy read will be greater.

b) The Three Greatest Human DESIRES

This should be the most important one of the three, but it's second since it may not appeal to everyone. However, this particular set of "three's" is very potent. And that's not an understatement at all. Here's an example.

If you buy some of the supermarket "rags," you'll notice their ads cater to any of these three. Admittedly, they're not considered respectable papers for most. But keep in mind that ad space in them is VERY pricey. If an ad appears in more than one issue, it tells you that the ad is indeed profitable.

Ads in these types of newspapers are often long copy advertorials, which, more often than not, cater to the three human desires. They are 1) greed, 2) lust and 3) comfort. If you incorporate any of the three (or a combination thereof), you will boost your attention-factor. Here are some examples:

Greed (such as "How to make $1,678 with my system!" or "How to save thousands usually wasted on utilities!").

Lust (like "How to shed unwanted pounds!" or "How to make him/her fall in love with you all over again!").

And comfort ("How to build a web business in only 14 days!" or "How to write breathtaking copy in minutes!").

By the way, you may ask, "Mike, isn't 'comfort' similar to 'less effort' you mentioned earlier under 'goals'?" In terms of desires or feelings, look at comfort as the opposite of fear. Avoidance of fear is a powerful desire.

Your aim is to instill fear in the minds of your readers in order to offer them a solution that will comfort them and allay those fears, such as the fear of loss, the fear of death and so on.

Granted, the above examples are somewhat categorical, too. But if your opening copy contains a hint or a slant of any of these, you're much better off. You can cater to any of these three in a number of different ways.

Nevertheless, the last three are ...

c) The Three Greatest Human TEASERS

In addition to the six elements above, try to cater to any of the three "provokers" or "arousers," if you will. The following three elements stir. They arouse. They mesmerize. They hypnotize. Why? Because they cater to fundamental human characteristics.

They are: 1) curiosity, 2) controversy and 3) scarcity. Try to add an element of any of these three and you will boost your chances that the reader will be sucked into your copy will increase substantially.

For example, in terms of curiosity don't mention everything to your readers at the beginning -- give them ample information to pique their curiosity but not too much so that it pulls them in.

Leave some interesting tidbit out or keep them on the edge of their seats, hanging onto every word, eager to read further.

For instance, say, "Learn nine of the Internet's most closely guarded secrets for tripling website sales in less than 26 days!" People will then wonder, "Gosh, what are these nine secrets? I want to know what they are!" And they'll read your sales letter, intently, in order to find them.

Second, controversy is something not often used but does work extremely well. If your copy addresses something that stirs people's emotions or causes certain "lights to go off" in their heads, you can pull them into the copy just as effectively as any of the other elements, above.

Here's an example. Howard Stern, a well-known "radio shock jock," was one of the first to break many of the rules while on the air. In his semi-autobiography, "Private Parts," the story goes that people who loved him had a tendency to listen to his show for about an hour.

But people who hated him listened up to two to three hours.

Maybe it's because they wanted to see what he'll say next. Maybe it's because they wanted more ammunition to bring the guy down. But whatever the reason is, Stern's highly controversial approach undoubtedly made him extraordinarily rich and famous. He got their attention!

While you may want to stay away from such a drastic position, you can use "lighter" forms of controversy -- such as using (or "piggy-backing" on) current events, a newsworthy issue, or an emerging or popular trend -- to build your case an create an almost instant desire to read your copy.

A shocking news item, an outrageous claim or an unbelievable statement are some examples. Even when they're not true. Let me explain.

Often, brilliant copywriters write copy that is somehow tied to a recent event or some controversial subject. Sometimes, the angle they choose have nothing to do with the overall topic discussed in the sales letter. But used in the opening of the copy, this approach can be very effective.

For example, not long after 9-11 many commercials have surfaced that capitalized on the event to sell security equipment, self-defense products, public transportation other than air travel, home alarms and the like.

(By the way, I agree that this may seem somewhat gutless and capitalistic to you. But look at all the charities who regularly profit from dramatic events like these. They use controversy all the time.)

Controversy can also be something significant, slight or even funny or different, such as with the use of a story, a unique angle or a new twist. For instance, I once opened my email newsletter with the following, dramatic statement: "I have a new 'baby'! And I love beating it from time to time!"

Of course, whether you knew that I was a drummer or not, I was referring to my new drumset purchased the week before. I call it my new "baby." But the point is, did it capture your attention?

Here's another. Think of the times you've seen a story about someone starting an online business. While that may sound a little trivial (and usually, it is), it isn't if that person is a politician, suffers from some kind of disability or is raising 10 children at home. Here's an example.

A client of mine was an amputee -- and an inventor. The product he was trying to promote was a backpack with special straps he created, These special straps made carrying it a little more comfortable.

I told him to use his lack of one leg as being the inspiration behind his creation. So, the copy opened with: "One-legged man makes a daring promise to lighten people's loads!" It worked extremely well.

Finally, adding an element of scarcity to your copy is to somehow limit the offer by making it time-sensitive or quantity-bound.

Adding a deadline or a cap on the number of new clients, or even making the offer something that's secretive, exclusive or otherwise unavailable to the general public, can arouse stronger motives in the psyche of your readers.

But in order to give your added sense of urgency some level of credibility, never just leave it as a plain limit. Always backup your deadline or limitation with some kind of logical, commonsensical and believable justification.

For example, "We were overshipped on these cassette tapes and only have 541 left in stock," or, "my schedule this week has only two openings left to be filled, so if you need copy done before the weekend, act now," or, "during our recent move we slightly damaged 178 pieces of our stock -- while the damage is hidden and insignificant, I can't sell them as new and must let them go at a discount ... But remember, we only have 178 of them left!"

"5 Secrets To Make A Killing on eBay" by Jason James

Secret #1: Find a "real" wholesale and drop ship company

Do you know what one of the biggest problem is to be successful on eBay? "What should I sell?" I can tell you, I get many emails per day from eBay sellers, asking me what they can sell. Let me explain this more in detail.

Let's take John and David for example. Both are sellers and try to make money on eBay. Let's start with John. He mainly gets his items from garage sales. So, every Saturday morning he gets up very early, hops into his car and drives around the neighbourhood to check out the garage sales. So he went last Saturday. John did not buy anything on the first two garage sales, but on his third garage sale, he found a little treasure. An old book from 1897 - for a bargain price of $10. Bingo! John was proud! "I can sell this for huge profit', he thought and he went home. He took his digital camera and he made a high quality digital photo. It took quite some time but finally he was happy with the result. Then he had to upload this picture to his computer and he spent some time writing the sales copy. Late Saturday afternoon finally he was finished and launched this book onto eBay. 7-10 days later his item got sold for $75!! John is excited. He packs the item, labels it with the buyers address and then he drives to the nearest post office. Oh no, what a long line. After 15 min of waiting he could finally post this item to his customer! Wow, a lot of work for $65 profit? Don't you think?

Let's look at David. He usually gets up very late - usually at Saturday around lunchtime. He is still in his pyjamas and he makes himself a nice cup of coffee and gets onto the Internet. He logs into his drop ship account and browses through some hot selling product. "Yes, I can sell that" - A nice laptop for a bargain price of $550 (wholesale price). But David does not have to pay upfront for this item, so he just downloads the professional digital photos offered by his drop ship company to his computer. "Oh wait"; David has just discovered that this drop ship company has also a "ready-to-use" auction sales letter available. That's really cool ...and David copies and pastes the source code of this letter into his eBay listing and he launches his auction. A Dutch auction, since the drop ship company announced that they have more than one of this laptop currently available. Great, David could sell 6 laptops. He hits the submit button for this Dutch auction of 6 laptops and enjoys his coffee (which is still hot by the way). After 7-10 days David has sold all 6 laptops for $830 each. All what David does is the following: He waits until he gets the payment from his 6 customers in his paypal account, sends the address of the customers together with 6 x $550 (wholesale price) to his drop sip company via paypal. He has made pure profit of 6 x $280 = $1,680 in about 25 min of work - total. That's why David is a smarter eBay seller than John. I think the idea is clear ...drop shipping can be the answer to your problem what to sell on eBay and it can saves you a lot of time too. No packing, posting etc.

Secret #2: Have a professional auction listing

A professional eBay auction site is like your business card. If you are serious selling on eBay you should show your potential customers that you are a professional seller and that you are selling high quality products. Please, don't just upload a photo and type the text in the description box. Do your homework and learn some HTML. Look around there are many professional tutorials and ebooks around helping you in that matter. It's definitely worth it. And you'll be surprised, because if your auction listing looks nice and professional potential buyers stay longer on your site and usually it's more likely that they place a bid.

Secret #3: The money is in the follow up

"Yes, I've heard this before", you may say. But, this is a very important aspect of your successful eBay career: Follow up with your customers. Send them an email ~10 days after they have purchased the product and ask them how they are going with the product and if everything is all right. Invite them to have a look at your other auctions. (You have to be careful though not offending anyone, but if the products are related and you ask how they went with the product, that's fine). I never got complaints by doing that and your customers are happy to get some "insider tips". You'll be amazed how many customers will buy from you again, since they value you as a seller. Keep in mind that it is easier to keep an existing customer, instead of getting a new customer. You could also send them a thank you gift in form of a downloadable digital information product. That's easy for you and they get some valuable information. You'll see that your existing customers will be very thankful and they feel good that they have bought from you and will do again in the future.

Secret #4: Sell internationally

This aspect is often neglected by many eBay sellers: Sell internationally! First, check with your drop ship company in which countries they are shipping and how much postage they charge to send the item overseas. If you have sort out these details, you can go ahead and list your item internationally. You'll be surprised how many more items you are selling when the potential buyers see: Ship worldwide. Don't miss this opportunity or you are leaving big bucks on the table.

Secret #5: Be creative - Be different

How do you think your listing will be stand out from the crowd? Good question isn't it. In my 4 years of being an active Power Seller, I have tried and tested a lot. First have the photo in the gallery; it just costs a bit more to list but these additional cents are well spend. A recent study has shown that people almost ignore listing without a picture in the gallery. So that's mandatory! The next step is your title. Do you know that only the title is spidered by eBay when potential customers are searching for specific products? So, you have to make sure that your title includes as much keywords as possible. But be careful here, eBay does not like "keyword stuffing". So, be creative and come up with 2-3 different titles for the same item. Try them all and you'll see what works best.

"What You Can Learn From Tom Cruise... And How It Can Explode Your Sales!" by Craig Garber

You know, Tom Cruise has been all over the television and
newspapers lately.

Yeah, he's got a big blockbuster movie out right now that
he's trying to promote (War Of The Worlds), but he's also
been getting a little "out there" going on about his newest
love, Katie Holmes, and of course -- he's been in
"preacher" mode about his cult / religion, scientology.

Now whether you like this kind of stuff or not, there's a
very simple lesson you can learn from Tom Cruise, that can
make a HUGE difference in your business, and therefore in
your life.

Any idea what that lesson is?

No... it's not that you should go around getting publicity
by being a nut...

And n-o-o-o... it's not that you should profess your love
for your newest flame, shouting it out from every rooftop
in town at the top of your lungs, so we can all hear about
it, either.

It has to do with "action".

More specifically, it has to do with "taking action".

Napoleon Hill, the incredible author of "Think And Grow
Rich", once said,

"Do not wait. The time will never be "just right".
Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you
may have at your command, and better tools will be found
as you go along."

And it's true: Things happen once you're in motion.

See, regardless of whether you love Tom Cruise or whether
you think he's an a-hole, the fact of the matter is...

At least he's out there doing something!

Many people just sit around waiting... and waiting... and
waiting...

Until their timing is "just right".

And before you know it, what happens is, you wind up moving
on to another project because all that enthusiasm you once had
over your idea, is long gone, just like all the other hopes
and dreams you once had but didn't "get to".

I can't tell you how many people call me for consults -
www.kingofcopy.com/consulting - and for sales copy reviews
- www.kingofcopy.com/salescopyreview - and then tell me
"Gosh, I don't know why I waited so long to get moving on
this."

Bluntly, I don't either.

Let me tell you a somewhat embarassing story:

I didn't grow up in what you'd exactly call a... "loving
environment".

As a result, I had a lot of negative programming shoved down
my throat from an early age.

And it's taken me loads of time to reverse all that and to
sort of "re-program" myself with "good messages" instead
of "bad" ones.

Anyway, when I was a kid, my father had a favorite expression.
He used to tell me "You're no effin' good Craig."

For a while there, I used to believe him.

So I got myself in lots of trouble... and I did a lot of
negative things... and I really was sort of wandering
around aimlessly.

If I'm 100% honest about things, I didn't really "snap out"
of that mode, until I was around 30 years old.

Around that time, I made some "key" decisions, that I may
tell you about later, but for now... just know that I
started making some good strategic moves in my life, for the
very first time.

A few years later, in late 1998, I decided to go into
business for myself.

Was my timing right?

Absoluetly not.

I had a very close family member that was just recovering
from a serious illness, and that was pre-occupying a great
deal of my time, both physically and emotionally... we were
working on having another child... and lastly, it wasn't
exactly like we had a huge amount of free cash to play
with.

In fact, we had a little stash for the first time in a
while, and I was about to invest the lion's share of it
into getting my new office set up.

On top of that, mind you... this was all new to me:

After all, I was the son of a toll collector and a bank
teller... so it wasn't like I'd had years of formidable
training in running a business, and I'd certainly NEVER seen
entrepreneurial "spirit" in action before in my entire
life.

But I did it.

With my wife's support, and with both of us never even
thinking things wouldn't work out, I started my own
financial planning firm after spending time working in
the corporate world doing this for someone else.

Shortly after that, I got into direct-response, used it to
really explode my sales... and then of course... the rest
is history.

My point is not that I succeeded. And frankly, until I
stumbled across direct-response mrketing, we had a lot more
stress, anxiety and bad times, than good.

My point is, that I did... "something".

Overall, my story has a really nice ending -- at least as
far as I'm concerned, but what I want you to know is that
nothing would have EVER happened if I'd waited until the
timing was "just right".

Fast forward the clock again, to just last week. My wife
and I took our younger son Casey along with our daughter,
out to our local Barnes & Noble Bookstore for a couple of
hours of reading fun.

I saw a "Comic Novel" there (that's a novel, written in the
comic-book style -- very popular nowadays) by someone
called "Seth".

I absolutely loved the title. It was called...

"It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken."

And it's an even better life, as long as you don't sit
around waiting for the "right time" to get your stuff done.

Try it, you'll immediately find out for yourself.

Have a great fourth and talk to you on Tuesday.

Now go sell something,

"5 Ways To Drive Traffic Away From Your eBay Auction" by Jason James

eBay is a one-stop solution to any one who wants to make money online. Whether you just selling a few unwanted items from around your house or your want to develop a work from home business, eBay removes many of the obstacles for you. Not many other websites can help you drive targeted traffic towards your sales, process the order on your behalf and accept payment though paypal. All you need to do then is dispatch the item to your winning bidder.

And let's not forget the biggest advantage over selling on eBay. The majority of users have money in their hand just waiting to find the right item.

So if eBays so great why would you want to drive traffic AWAY from your auctions?

Well there are a few reasons why you'd be better off selling from your own website, rather than though eBay. Firstly & most importantly, think of all the listing fees & final value fees you could save if everything you sold on eBay you could sell on your own website. Personally it would save me thousands of dollars per year alone in listing fees.

Secondly, you'll be protecting yourself from eBay policy change. Imagine you were selling thousands of ebooks weekly and then suddenly eBay policy changed to prevent any ebook listings.

Overnight your business would simply disappear & your income would vanish. It's the same with listing fees - A sudden hike in fees could wipe out your business & profit overnight.

With any business, especially an online one you need to safeguard yourself against measures that are out of your control. So by driving traffic away from your auctions to your own website you'll slowly start building up an alternative source of revenue. The following methods can be used on eBay. Some are on the borderline of eBay policy & you should check out any policy violation before using them. Saying that, a huge proportion of sellers use these on a daily basis.

1) Image Hosting

All the best sellers have auction templates developed to maintain a professional listing. And of course those sellers ALWAYS use images or graphics to accurately show the condition of the items their offering.

eBay itself allows you to upload the images to their servers, other commercial & free services are available. However really you want to store any images on your own server. Not only will search engine robots follow the links from your listings to your site (helping in improved visibility in any search engines), but many browsers will show the address of where the images are loading from in the status bar - For instance "Loading Image From http://www.visitmyshop.com" or "Waiting For http://www.visitmyshop.com". This is a great way for your visitors to see to become familiar with your site.

2) Feedback

Many sellers include their own website in the feedback comments they use. Strictly it is against eBay policy but many Powersellers use comments like "Thanks for your custom from http://www.Visitmyshop.com" as standard. This is perhaps one of the widely violated policies on eBay. I've never known of anyone receive a warning for this policy, but use it with caution as you could be the first.

3) Email Address.

eBay allows your listings to contain one email link address, in addition to the "Ask The Seller A Question Link" they already provide. Use the opportunity to show the an email account associated with your domain name for example sales@visitmyshop.com. The only condition about showing your email address is the one shown must also be your registered email account with eBay. Before you list it, make sure they match up.

4) About Me Page

eBay actually allows you to link to your own website from your About Me page, as long as the actual page does not directly offer to sell items. Therefore make it an information or about us page that you link to, BUT one where visitors can easily navigate to your catalog of items for sale. Additionally drive traffic to your About Me Page by including a link on every listings, for example "Click here to learn about me". An average basic shop on eBay will get over 1500 item views within a month. If you can drive just a small proportion of these to your about me page & then to your site you'll certainly see a difference in your non-eBay sales.

5) User Id

While eBay does not allow your user id to be that of an website, you should have it as closely to resembling your site name as possible. You CAN NOT attach .com, -com or *com to the end of your user id - this is strictly against eBay policy. However nothing would stop your id being VisitMyShop. The idea is to get your eBay visitors comfortable with dealing with you away from eBay.

I hope these tips help you drive traffic away from your auctions towards your site & lessens eBays grip on your business. Remember, Ignorance is not an excuse eBay accept if you do violate their policy. While you initially get a warning for policy violation continuous offences may result in your account being suspended. Having said that, eBay mostly rely on policing from other users to enforce their policy so as long as no reports you should be in the clear.

Good luck with your eBay activity.

Dan Mader: “Right now, you hear the 'naysayers,' the media – I hate to bring the media up – but specifically the media projects a negative image of the teenagers of America are apathetic. They don’t care about anything. They don’t hold any values dear. What do you feel about that?”

Gregory Alan Williams: “I think to a large degree, the news is the news. Used to be the news was what was happening, but now the news is the news. You must understand that the media is a profit-based, a profit-based organization. They’re in business to make money.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “It is perhaps easier to make money feeding a people images that they will more readily accept than it is to feed them images that require them to think or wrestle with. It is perhaps easier to go along with the popular mindset than to be about the business of changing minds.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “Certainly if I wish a greater constituency, a greater demographic, a bigger audience, what will I do? Show that audience things, images that they are not familiar with, or show them images that they’re already comfortable with so they can tune in to my station, they can tune to my station and say, ‘Oh, this is my station because I’m comfortable with the images.’ No one likes change.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “So it’s easier to make money by showing images that people are familiar with. I think there’s one thing we need to understand. The youth of America or the youth of America is more underdeveloped than it’s ever been. Youth of America is always, it is, it is natural for youth to be at odds with age and for age to be at odds with youth. That is the nature of things.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “Each generation says, ‘Oh, those kids today. Wasn’t like when we grew up.’ I don’t know how it is that we come of age and seem to forget we were 16 and 12 and – it’s a weird thing, you know. It’s a very strange thing. I don’t, I think youth today are facing challenges. We all face new challenges. The information superhighway, the speed which information is transmitted from one person to another and the modes of transmission mean that genocide and madness can also be disseminated much more quickly. And, I think that’s our current danger.”

Dan Mader: “Okay. Mr. Williams, thank you very much for meeting with us.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “Thank you.”

"Drop Shippers Can Make a Fortune on Ebay" by Jason James

Drop shipping has become the latest craze in business and is helping to drive the latest surge of new websites being created today. Drop shippers are creating multiple websites selling numerous product lines and making a fortune in the process. Just type any product you can think of into a search engine and just look at how many pages of websites come up-and most of them are drop shipping companies selling their wares!

Drop Shipping Benefits

The reason why drop shipping has become so popular and exploded so suddenly is that it is simply the most efficient way to sell retail goods. People surfing the web find a site selling a product they want and then make a purchase. The website owner (drop shipper) then passes that order along to their wholesaler along with payment and shipping costs.

From there, the wholesaler processes the order, packages the product with the website owner's business name on the packaging, and ships it directly to the customer. The website owner bought the product at wholesale price and then sold it to the customer for whatever price they thought they could charge, and profited from the difference. It really is pure genius!

But, there is more to this than you think and the beauty of drop shipping gets even better! First of all, there is virtually no overhead because there is no store to operate (or employees to pay!) or any inventory to maintain. Stores like Wal-Mart may get better wholesale prices because they buy in such large quantities, but they still do not make as much profit on each item as a drop shipper due to the costs of operating their stores.

Drop Shipping with Ebay

Although websites are definitely cheaper to create and operate than a conventional retail store, they still can require a fairly sizeable investment of time and money. Between paying for servers and either creating or paying for content, websites can definitely eat up some time and money. But, this is where Ebay comes in.

For a small fee, you can post your wares on Ebay and benefit from the millions and millions of people who surf the site every year. This way, you never have to worry about maintaining any website and you can start selling products within a day or two.

Due to the incredible traffic on Ebay, it is definitely possible to make a fortune by drop shipping from the site. If you just think of the Ebay fee as a business expense, there really is no downside to the arrangement and it can definitely be more profitable than operating your own site and worrying about getting people to visit your site.

While some people may not like the idea of depending upon Ebay for their business, the fact remains that drop shippers can substantially benefit from the partnership. Due to the incredibly low operational costs of drop shipping, the Ebay fee is a very small price to pay for the convenience and high traffic offered by the site. If you are thinking about going into drop shipping but are not crazy about the idea of creating and operating your own website, consider posting from Ebay because the benefits far outweigh the small fee charged by the site.

Dan Mader: “Does it all start with tolerance, then?”

Gregory Alan Williams: “I think that’s a major part. I think it starts with tolerance of ourselves. You know there are days when I’m intolerant. There are days when I pull into a gas station in California, I’m looking for directions, and it seems the people in the gas station don’t know where they are let alone where I need to get to.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “See, I grew up in a place where you could always count on directions at a service station. At a filling station, you could get your car fixed. You could get water. You could get air. For me, a service stations was a landmark and it was a place where the people who worked there knew their community.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “So today, I live in an area that has a very new immigrant population. Where I grew up, we didn’t have any new immigrants. All the immigrants were old immigrants, and everybody in the community was an immigrant or a descendant of an immigrant. But, it was old immigrants. So I now live in a community where there are a lot of new immigrants. And I’m paying for gas and asking for directions and no one can tell me where I need to go and I get upset, and I say, oh, man, these people. Oh, these people! Why don’t they learn to speak English? Why don’t they go back where they came from? They don’t even know where they are. ‘Oh, Man!’ goes through my head like a shotgun blast. And, then two or three minutes later, I say, ‘Hmmm, what’s that all about, pal? You know, what’s it all about? These people go back where you came from, even learn to speak the language.’”

Gregory Alan Williams: “We’re a nation of immigrants, voluntary or involuntary. That’s what we are. There was a time when my descendants didn’t know where they were. Didn’t want to be where they were. So I have to be tolerant of myself knowing that I’m going, I’m not going to beat myself up and beat my head with a baseball bat.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “I’m going to be aware that I can be intolerant, and I have to be tolerant of myself to work with that, to work on that, and it will get better over time. And, it has gotten better over time. And, I need to be, not only tolerant of other people. St. Francis of Assisi said, ‘It is better to understand than to be understood if one wishes to be a channel of peace.’”

Gregory Alan Williams: “So, and indifference is the other current scourge. I mean, Ellie Fazel says that, the great Nobel laureate, writer, Holocaust survivor says that, ‘The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference.’ But, indifference is more dangerous than hatred. And, that is the other thing I have to be on guard for, indifference. Well, it’s not me being beaten, it’s not my family…couple of guys on my soccer team. Hey, it’s not my business. That is what is dangerous, indifference. So intolerance and indifference.”

"Ebay Selling Can Net You Serious Part-Time Income" by Jason James

No one really knows just how big this Ebay business could actually become because it continues to grow at a mind boggling rate with no apparent end in sight. Over a billion dollars of merchandise is sold every month and that figure just continues to grow. While you might not be interesting in using online auctions to provide your sole source of income, you may want to consider Ebay selling as means of creating viable part-time income that can really add up over the course of a year.

Endless Possibilities

While Ebay continues to diversify its services and allow customers more and more options, online auctions remain the heart and soul of their business. If you are just interested in using Ebay selling to generate part-time income without the hassles of working for other people, then Ebay auctions are for you.

One of the reasons why Ebay is such a popular means of generating part-time income for so many people is because it takes so little investment and time to get started. If you have a computer and Internet access along with either a digital camera or access to a picture of the item you are selling-well, you basically have all you need to get started!

Of course you will also need to register with Ebay before the fun begins. For this all you really need is a checking account, a credit card, and a few minutes to sign-up. It is not impossible to register on Monday and begin selling items on Tuesday. Really, it is just that simple!

To begin with and for a better idea of how to navigate and use the site, most people opt to search their homes for things to list on Ebay auctions. Frankly, the sky is basically the limit with respect to what you can choose to list because Ebay selling is a pretty wide open field. Of course, Ebay does ban some items from being sold so be sure check out their website for a listing of unacceptable items.

For people who love to go antiquing and spend their weekends scouring flea markets for the best deals, making substantial part-time income is no problem at all. This is especially true for people who really know how to spot a quality item at a great price. It is nothing to buy something on a weekend and turn around and sell it for double the price they paid for it (or more!).

If you are creative and like crafts or painting pictures, Ebay selling can be a great way to get started in a field you have always dreamed of working in while making money in the process. An Ebay store can be an excellent way to turn your hobbies and passions into cold hard cash and perhaps even build your reputation.

Honestly, the list of possibilities could literally go on forever it seems because Ebay auctions offer people the chance to earn part-time income in any number of ways. The start up costs are minimal and so are the risks. Just be sure to use accurate descriptions and answer all questions promptly and your part-time income potential is limitless with Ebay auctions!

Dan Mader: “So we need to be able to see the difference between true heroism and heroic acts?

Gregory Alan Williams: “There is heroism in, certainly, heroic acts. I guess what I’m saying is, is that we, we can find heroism in other than extraordinary acts. Or, because I think that the daily commitment and fulfillment of a commitment is extraordinary.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “As I became an adult and realized what was required to be an honorable adult, I realized. And I – I – I – oh, goodness gracious, I tried to avoid it. I mean, I tried all kinds of ways, because I thought, oh, my goodness, this adult thing, this responsible thing, this is, you know…let me hang out and go party, you know.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “But there’s definitely heroism. We need to look in other places because as long as we say that heroism is an extraordinary act of courage or bravery at great risk to one’s self, to one’s physical self, for example, then I can deny my responsibility to other people because I can say, oh, well, that guy was very strong. He was very brave. He was very courageous, and I’m not very brave, and I’m not very strong.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “So I can never do what he did. I could never be a hero. And, so that allows people then to disassociate themselves from their responsibility to other people. If they come to believe that that responsibility requires great bravery, great courage, great strength, you see, then they can say, oh, they can distance themselves and say, ‘Well, no, I don’t have to raise my voice in the face of mob violence because that man who did was strong and tall.’ You see, so I don’t have to do that. But, the truth is, that we all must raise our voices in the face of a mob.”

Dan Mader: “I believe that no matter what the age of a person, I mean, people say that teenagers lose their respect for heroes, adults lose their respect for heroes, but I think that we’re always searching for heroes, someone to pattern our life after. So, who do you feel would be the best hero today?

Gregory Alan Williams: “I call my book A Gathering of Heroes because I think that’s what we require – a gathering of heroes. And those folks come in all different forms. Sometimes they enter our lives for only a brief moment, passionate moment. A word, a phrase. There’s nothing to fear but fear itself.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “I wonder how many soldiers in the Second World War remember Mr. Roosevelt’s words in battle, ‘There’s nothing to fear but fear itself when you are scared to death.’ So for some, see, that’s a moment, you know, someone we can – oh, that’s a hero. I’ll take that. Here’s a man who, once vital and healthy, finds himself in a wheelchair, but yet he kept pushing or perhaps that was inspirational to people and he saw Mr. Roosevelt as being his hero in his life.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “There is a gathering of heroes in our lives… all kinds of different folks, I think, who come in. I think it’s best for us to be pragmatic. If we say I want to pattern my life after this person, the moment we see imperfection, then what happens to the pattern, you see.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “My mother sews and I remember when I was little, we used to go to J.C. Penney’s, she used to get a pattern. And, she would make that dress based on that pattern. If the pattern was messed up, the dress would be messed up. I guarantee you, that any human being that you pattern your life after will be imperfect, therefore, the pattern will be messed up.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “So, what one wants to do, perhaps, is to take from a variety of experiences, situations, and people, and create their own pattern for your own life, you see. Take a little from Bob, a little from Bill, from Ellen, little bit from Susie, little bit from Confucius, little bit from Roosevelt, little bit from Kennedy, little bit from Cain, little bit from Malcolm, you see.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “What we’re so used to doing is throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Oh, he’s a republican…write him off. He’s a democrat…write him off. He’s white…write him off. And, there may be all sorts of good things coming out of this person which we can learn, but if they aren’t a member of our group, if we aren’t affiliated with their sect, if we don’t speak their dialect of English, then, oh, write them off. And we lose.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “You have two men. And one has a parcel of land and the other has seed. Well, the man with the parcel of land says, ‘Well, you know what, you don’t speak my dialect of English so I’m not going to let you plant your seeds on my land.’ So the man with the seeds says, ‘Oh, yeah, well, no big deal. You don’t speak my dialect of English, you know what I mean, so I’m not going to plant my seeds in your land.’ And come spring, they find them both dead of starvation.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “See what I’m saying? One’s got the land and the other’s got the seed. But, they got these things going on with each other which keeps them from coming together cooperatively and sharing the value that they both have. One has valuable seed, the other has the land, and one without the other is worthless, you see. They both die. They both starve to death. And, so very often in our lives, this is what happens.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “We starve spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, physically, because we’re unwilling to exchange with people what we need because we are not a part of their group, you see. It’s a dangerous way to live, so I suggest that we be pragmatic. And if we see a person with some seed, and I know I’ve got a little land, even if I don’t have some land, I’d say, ‘Hey, listen, you’ve got some seeds there. Could I get a couple of those, you know.’ And maybe I can, you know, and I could start my own garden.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “So I think patterning our lives after a specific person may be a mistake. I think we may be doomed for disappointment. But, if we recognize that people are imperfect and we go about gathering what we can from people, from a gathering of heroes, we may be a lot better off.”

Dan Mader: “Do you think of yourself as a hero?
Gregory Alan Williams: “No. Yesterday’s scores will not win today’s ballgames. If the Padres go out and win on Tuesday and they’ve got a game on Thursday, and when they hit the field, they say, ‘Well, you know what, folks, we won Tuesday so…’The fans will say, but today is Thursday, you see.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “So, my actions in the intersection of Florence and Normandy are, will not hold me today in the face of a indifferent injustice, of a new injustice, in the face of a new victim, new perpetrators and new mobs and new bystanders, you see.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “Heroism is a commitment. It’s steadfast. It’s – it’s – it’s ongoing. Perhaps, all that’s required to rush into the midst of a mob is a rush of adrenaline. I have a firefighter friend named Newman. I asked Newman one time what requires greater – which requires greater courage, rushing into a burning building or taking care of your family one day at a time.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “He said, oh, most certainly taking care of my family. And he was the one who said rushing into a burning building requires some degree of skill. Primarily, it’s about a rush of adrenaline. But, the compassion that is required as a husband, a wife, a father, friend, teacher, disciplinarian, that, my friend, is where the struggle is.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “We may want to go bowling, you know, but they, it’s, it’s bazaar night at the kid’s grade school, you know. This is your big bowling night. What do I do? Do I go and be with this child who will probably not remember this, you know, or do I go bowling. That is where our heroism comes in, our willingness to commit.”

"8 Imaging mistakes to avoid when uploading your Ebay auction photo" by Jason James

It is no secret that having professional looking photos that are upscale in quality will help create more Ebay auction sales and attract higher bid buyers. Each and every product that you sell on Ebay, even it you are promoting a service, should have a photo cropped and fit to please the eye.

As much of a positive impact that a decent photo has on your business, the exact opposite will come into effect if you display a distasteful photo of poor quality on your auction. Even if your product is sound and your service is top notch this still may never matter if your Ebay photo creates an illusion of poor quality in the buyers eyes.

In order create good Ebay product photos then be sure to stay clear from these common mistakes that are made my Ebay sellers when creating their digital photo for the auction:

1. Glare: Along the lines of poor lighting, glare is the result of improper flash usage. Try not to take your pictures head on when wanting beautiful photos for your Ebay auction. Try instead to shoot the product from an angle. Such angles are from the left, from the right, or even from the top of the project. Coming from an under angle also works for photos for your Ebay auctions.

2. Cropping: Have you seen those Ebay auction pictures that have the item in the middle of all of the background distractions? Now that is very annoying to those viewing your Ebay auction. You should crop everything that you take a photo for. Nobody wants to see your messy bedroom or the garage where you took the picture at and it may detour many from looking further into your Ebay auction. Keep all distractions out of your Ebay photo by cropping everything but the product. Trust me, your Ebay auction will thank you for it in sales.

3. Background: Having a fancy background like countertop designs or table garnishes only distract from your Ebay auction product. Sure this may seem like something pleasant to do but this mistake is very similar to not cropping properly in that it may make your Ebay auction customer loose focus on what you are selling.

4. Fuzzy images: If your Ebay auction images are fuzzy and blurry to view then all you are telling the customer is that you do not have any consideration for detail and quality. This lack of preparation with your Ebay photos will give the customer a perception that you may just treat your products and customer service with the same lack of attention. You have one chance with your Ebay auction so be sure to check the focus before you snap the photo and use a tripod if necessary to avoid blur.

5. Lighting quality: Do not deplete the value of your Ebay auction by having dim lighting for your product photo. On the other hand, too much lighting can also create a very bad picture in the customers mind as they are viewing your Ebay auction. You should take several snapshots of the product to view each photo for lighting problems. Then begin your cropping.

6. Close up shots: There are some Ebay auction items that are so small and need a closer look by the customer. Do you have these close up photos in your Ebay auction? I strongly suggest that you do not make the mistake of selling something like jewelry but not including up close photos. Your camera should have a zoom feature which can take very close shots of the item with total accuracy.

7. Avoid reflective surfaces: This mistake that happens to many Ebay auction photos falls into the categories of poor lighting and blurry images. Light issues can really make or break your Ebay sales if not attended to and reflective light can do the same damage. Be sure to remove any shiny objects from the background from the site where you are taking your Ebay Auction photo to avoid this distraction.

8. Confusing combo shots: Do not take pictures and post multiple items within the same block that your main item is for sale is located. This will create confusion from the buyer and will prevent your Ebay auction from making the sales that you want. Customers have one thing in mind and the only product that you should be posting is of a picture of the main single item.

Dan Mader: “You talk about Jefferson. You talked about all the great Americans, and is it fair to say that this is really a country founded by heroes? I mean, the American dream is the dream – to desire for freedom – you have the right to freedom. No one can deny you your freedom. And, these heroic men set all this up so people today can live with that. And, so you knew that you had to step in.

Gregory Alan Williams: “They set it up, but they were shortsighted. Mr. Jefferson himself demanded liberty for himself, but was unwilling to preserve liberty for the black folks who he owned.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “There’s a bit of bad in the best of us, and a bit of good in the worst of us. And, the humanity in all of us…shortsightedness, misunderstanding, a failure to see the forest for the trees. Here, on one hand, Mr. Jefferson demands justice for himself and is unwilling to preserve justice for other human beings.”

Gregory Alan Williams: “Now one can say, well, he really – he really didn’t make a mistake because he didn’t consider black people to be his equal. He considered them to be beasts. Well, if that’s the case, why did Mr. Jefferson then have so many black children? Why did he sleep with one of his black slaves, if she was a beast…an animal? Well, I’m not going to condemn Mr. Jefferson. I’m as flawed as he is. I suffer from the same kind of shortsightedness. But, because one has flaws, because one fails, does that make one less heroic? It perhaps makes them more heroic because we see in the face of their failings, in the face of their shortcomings, they still were able, at moments, to rise to pinnacles of greatness.”

Dan Mader: “If we look for perfect heroes, we will always be disillusioned, won’t we?

Gregory Alan Williams: “There will be no heroes! If perfection is a requisite for heroism, there are no, there will be, there are no heroes. It is often, however, a person’s flaws that inspire. As I mentioned, if a person, if a man or a woman can achieve great things and by great we mean… remember that consistent, steadfast kind of commitment to purpose and to our own lives and to the lives of others. If we can maintain that, even in the face of our fear and our anger and our shortsightedness, then we are, we are truly heroes.”

"The Basics of How To Sell on Ebay" by Jason James

The star that is Ebay continues to rise with its ultimate height and potential reach still unknown. What is known is that over $14 billion dollars worth of merchandise changed hands last year with more expected this year. More and more people are joining in the Ebay craze in hopes of making huge profits working for themselves. Learning the basics of how to sell on Ebay is simple and just about anyone can profit from the miracle of online auctions.

Getting Started

With millions of visitors every month, the Ebay business machine continues to be an incredible opportunity for people to go into business for themselves and succeed with very little start up capital. Essentially, all anyone needs to start selling items using their own Ebay business are: a computer with Internet access, a digital camera, and…well, something to sell!

Learning how to sell on Ebay begins with familiarizing yourself with the site by actually getting your feet wet and selling something. To do this, you will first have to register with Ebay. You will need a credit card, a checking account, and a few minutes to do this.

Listing Your Wares

Most people begin their Ebay business slowly by first selling items around the house. Once you have scoured your home in search of antiques, collectibles, or even clothing that you are no longer interested in or just want to sell, you have to list your item because online auctions just would not be as interesting without something for people to bid on!

In order to do this, you will need a product description and a photo of the item(s) being sold. This description needs to be accurate while still casting your product in the best light possible. Misrepresenting your item can cut your Ebay business experience short because customer feedback is listed for all to see. One or two really scathing reviews, especially in the beginning, can kill your chances of selling things on Ebay auctions in the future.

You are also going to need a picture of your item because this will be the only way for a potential buyer to have an idea about what they are bidding on other than your description. Be sure to capture the true essence of the item with this picture because you will get negative feedback for sure if people think they were conned by some slickster with a digital camera taking pictures that do not really represent the item being sold.

Monitor Bidding

Obviously, learning how to sell on Ebay means mastering the bidding process itself. You will need to determine whether or not to set a minimum bid amount or even to opt for something like the "Buy Now" option which allows people to buy an item at a listed price without going through the bidding process.

Regardless of what option you choose when auction selling, you will have to be available for questions that customers have about your item. Respond to these as quickly as possible and try to provide the most useful information you can while still answering their questions.

Conclude Transaction

After the bidding has ended it is time to collect your money and ship the item to the customer. Be sure to have posted sales policies and payment options so that customers know what they are getting into when bidding on your items. People are naturally a little skeptical of online auctions anyway because they are bidding on something that they cannot see or touch. You do not want to surprise them with high shipping costs or complicated payment options.

You may want to include a little note or even a flyer about your business to help cultivate good will with the buyer. Remember, positive feedback is critical to the success of any Ebay business and yours will be no exception. Once you run of out things to sell from your own household, it is time to take your Ebay store to the next level by locating more items to sell so you can keep those profits rolling in!
