"Headlines That Pull, Persuade and Propel!" by Michel Fortin

When writing direct response copy, there are a few things that can maximize the responsiveness of your message. The first and most important element that can turn any website, salesletter or ad into an action-generating mechanism is the headline.

A headline is meant to do two vital things.

First, it needs to grab your reader's attention. Realize that people surfing the web are click-happy. They tend to scan web pages quickly, even many of them simultaneously. Your site is but a blur. So, your headline must be prominent and effective enough to stop them.

Second, your headline needs pull the reader into the copy and compel her into reading further. To do that, it must cater to a specific emotion or a relevant condition -- one to which the reader can easily associate. Here's a list of "triggers," coupled with actual examples I used in the past:

Curiosity ("Revealed! Closely Guarded Secrets For ...")

Mystery ("The Five Biggest Mistakes to Avoid By ...")

Fear ("Over 98.4% of People End up Broke When ...")

Pain ("Suffering From Needless Back Pain? Then ...")

Convenience ("How to Increase Your Chances With ...")

Envy ("How Fellow Marketer Pummels Competitors By ...")

Jealousy ("They All Laughed When ... Until I ...")

Sloth ("Slash Your Learning Curve By 57% When ...")

Love, Lust ("Make Her Fall in Love With You With ...")

Shock ("Finally Exposed! Get The Dirty Truth On ...")

Greed ("Boost Your Income By More Than 317% When ...")

Pride, Power, Ego ("Make Fellow Workers Squirm With ...")

Assurance ("... In Less Than 60 Days, Guaranteed!")

Immortality ("Reverse The Aging Process With ...")

Anger ("Banks Are Ripping You Off! Here's Why ...")

By the way, most of these headlines were enormously successful for my clients, not because they were tested and tweaked (and most of them were), but because they were actually stolen from other, equally successful ads or salesletters. All "great" copywriters do this. They steal. They recycle. They copy. They model. They swipe.

And they adapt.

Of course, they must not be copied literally. (There's a big difference between plagiarism and modelling.) But they can be easily adapted to fit the market, the offer and the message. I have a large swipe file that contains copies of ads, websites, direct mail pieces and salesletters I come across. I then turn them into templates or "fill-in-the-blanks" formulas.

Study and model successful copywriting as much as you can. Dan Kennedy, my mentor and a hugely successful copywriter, teaches his students this exercise: buy tabloids, such as The National Enquirer, on a regular basis. Of course, the publication may be questionable for some, and it may not necessarily fit with your style or cater to your market.

But here's the reason why.

Ad space in tabloids is excruciatingly expensive. If an ad is repeated in more than two issues, preferably copy-intense ads or full-page advertorials, common sense tells you that the ad is profitable. Rip out the ad and put it into your swipe file. (If you don't have one, a shortcut is to copy someone else's, or swipe from proven list of successful headlines.)

Then, copy the headlines into a document. They can be easily converted into "fill-in-the-blanks" formulas. And believe me, they work well with almost all markets. I've tried these types of headlines on both low-end and high-end clients, from simple $10 products to six-figure investment opportunities. And they worked quite effectively in both situations.

The cosmetics of a headline is equally important if not more so. The type must be bold, large and prominently placed, even written in a different font or typestyle. It must "scream" at your readers. Don't worry if it's too harsh or too long. (My experience tells me that the longer headlines pull the most, even for professional clients or in conservative situations.)

Specificity is also quite important. The more specific you are with your headline, the better the response will be. Use odd, non-rounded numbers because they are more believable and pull more than even, rounded numbers. (In its commercials, Ivory Soap used to say it's "99.44% pure." Of course, that number is more believable than "100%.")

Whenever possible, be quantifiable, measurable and time-bound. For example, you're promoting some "how-to" marketing program. Don't say, "increase your income" or "make money fast." Words like "income" and "fast" are vague. Be specific. Say, "How six simple sales strategies helped me stumble onto an unexpected $5,431.96 windfall -- in less than 27 hours!"

The bigger the numbers are, the greater the impact is. If you say "five times more," replace it with "500%" (or better yet, "517%" or "483%"). Don't say "one year," say "364 days." The brain thinks in pictures, not numbers or words. Both "terms may mean the same thing, but one looks bigger.

Using some of the triggers mentioned at the beginning, here are some examples of being specific with your headlines:

"Nine Jealously Guarded Techniques That ..."

"Here Are 17 of My Most Prized Recipes For ..."

"How I Made $42,791.36 in Only 11 Days With ..."

"Boost Your Golf Drives By 27 Yards When ..."

"A Whole New Way to Lose 45 Pounds in 7 Weeks With ..."

"Marketing Toolkit Contains 35 Powertools That ..."

"Follow These Eight Magical Steps to ..."

"Read This 22-Chapter, 376-Page Powerhouse ..."

"The 10 Commandments of Power Positioning ..."

"Chop Paperwork By as Much as 47% When ..."

"Slash Your Learning Curve By Four Weeks With ..."

"... And Start Using Within Only 33 Minutes!"

My favorite headline formula is the "gapper," which is based on the pain-pleasure principle. In sales, it's referred to as "gap analysis." (Dan Kennedy calls it "Problem-Agitate-Solve." That is, you start by presenting a problem, you agitate your audience by making the problem "bigger," more significant and more urgent, and then you present your solution in the offer.)

With the "gapper," there's a gap between a prospect's problem and its solution (or a gap between where one happens to be at the moment and where that person wants to be in the future). But many prospects either do not know there is in fact a gap or, because it is one, naturally have a tendency to ignore it. It's simply human nature.

So, a headline that communicates the presence of such a gap -- or one that widens it (which can also be accomplished through other components, such as a surheadline, subheadline, "lift" copy, sidenotes or opening statements) -- will likely appeal to those who can immediately relate to it (i.e., people within that specific site's target market).

By opening the gap or widening it helps to reinforce a sense of urgency in the mind. After the headline, visitors will want to know how, by browsing further, they can close that gap. And the wider the gap is, the greater the desire to close it will be. Why? Because it appeals to stronger motives.

Abraham Maslow, the famous psychologist who developed the hierarchy of human motives, stated that the foundation of all human needs is our need to survive. Once satisfied, the next one is our need for safety. Our need to be with other people is next, followed by our need to feel appreciated. Finally, our need to be challenged is at the top.

The "pain-pleasure principle" states that people either fear pain (and try to avoid it) or crave pleasure (and try to gain it). When given a choice between the two, however, pain is a superior motive. Our need to survive and feel safe, which are at the bottom of Maslow's pyramid, rule over all other needs.

So, a headline that instantly communicates a problem (i.e., a painful situation or a potentially painful one that may arise without the benefits of your offering) will have more impact. People who associate with the message will feel compelled to read more, which also helps to qualifiy your readers -- it isolates the "serious" from the "curious."

You heard it before: there's a difference between "needs" and "wants." When I work with plastic surgeons, I often tell them to use as a headline, "Suffering from wrinkles?" That way, it pulls only qualified prospects into the ad because it appeals not only to people with wrinkles but also to those who suffer from wrinkles (i.e., they want to do something about them).

A web salesletter I recently wrote for Michael Murray talks about the fact that he is a college student stricken with cerebral palsy who's "made it" online. The copy and most of the headers use some of the triggers I mentioned earlier.

Below is a brief list. Can you identify them?

"SPECIAL REPORT! Want to cash in on ..."

"... But don't have a product or a website?"

"How a 'Physically Disabled' Teenager ..."

"Earn a $2,000-to-17,000 Monthly Downpour of Dollars ..."

"... On a Shoestring Budget!"

"Jealously guarded 'secrets' are finally revealed ..."

"Get your hands on dirt-cheap products to sell ..."

"You'll never have to create your own products!"

"... Model after actual websites 'making it' BIG TIME!"

"PLUS, for a limited time only, the next 500 orders ..."

"And if I can do it, I'm sure most 'abled' people can!"

Michael is a 19-year old with cerebral palsy. (I was moved by his story.) With his headline specifically, I used strategies to increase the attention factor. My biggest concern was the fact that people have become desensitized with opportunities of this nature. So, while I catered to people's emotions, I used Michael's disability as a psychological "hook."

Ultimately, ask yourself: "Does my headline effectively stop people from scanning my web page, capture their attention and trigger their emotions in order to pull them into the copy?" More importantly, ask yourself, "Does my opening statement beg for attention, arouse curiosity and genuinely cater to the motives and emotions of my market?"

If not, change your headline and try different ones. Sure, the change may be small and insignificant. But often, the smallest changes can create the most dramatic changes in your results.

"3 Resources that can help you decide what sells best on eBay" by Jason James

Determining what sells best on eBay may take some trial and error if you are not already stocked with merchandise or if you are unable to create your own product. What sells best on eBay for one person may not be what sells best on eBay for another.

So how can you use trial and error to discover great eBay products and/or services to auction off on eBay? Below are 3 tips of places where you can find merchandise, place it online, and then test your sales to determine what sells best on eBay for you.

1. Find items to sell at large wholesale discount stores like Costco. Places like this typically have a huge inventory of cheap items sold in bulk that you can resell on eBay. They offer such good deals on all kinds of merchandise like toys, grills, DVDs, etc. You will have unlimited new products to choose from with wholesale outlets like this in order to determine what sells best on eBay.

2. Dollar stores are probably the best way to buy cheap items and resell with little risk of loosing money when you test to find out what sells best on eBay. The quality of products sold in dollar stores range from very poor quality on up to 'diamonds in the rough'. I have seen the same products that I have purchased in a dollar store sold on eBay or at a swap meet for 10 times the original cost, not a bad profit!

3. Garage sales happen usually every weekend and there is a multitude of products that you can find to sell on eBay. What sells best on eBay from garage sales could range from antique furniture, to new or used video games, on up to old clothes.

Of course the above eBay product sources are just a few of the overall options available to you. They each are stock piled with product ideas that you can help you determine what sells best on eBay for your home based business.

"Using Drop Shippers on Ebay to Increase Profits" by Jason James

You may already be one of the thousands of Ebay business owners using online auctions to earn a living. While most people head off to work for someone else, you are living the American Dream of self-employment and making your dreams a reality. But are the long hours, dedication, and commitment adding up to the profits you hoped for when it all began? If not, you may wish to consider using drop shippers to increase those profits.

Drop Shipping Basics

Basically, drop shipping is where you sell a product for a company using online auctions or even your own website. Then, you pass along the order and the money owed for the item to the drop shippers and they process the order, package it using your company address and logo, and then ship it to your customer.

The customer never knows that anyone but you was involved in the transaction and you get to pocket the difference between your cost and that which you charged the customer. Pretty simple, right?

Drop Shippers Boost Profits

In all honesty, drop shipping and Ebay are perfect for one another. The high volume of the site and the ingenuity and tenacity of Ebay business owners help to sell a lot of products. But for people actually using auction sites like Ebay to earn a living, drop shippers are an absolute blessing because the help boost profits by increasing your productivity and efficiency.

Without drop shipping, an Ebay business owner must store, package, and ship the items they sell. Add to this the tasks of researching and buying products, responding to customer questions, and posting the items they sell to the Ebay website-and, well, it can make for a rather long day! But drop shippers take care of everything except selling the product which frees you up to find more products to sell and list them on your Ebay store.

Why spend your time on the logistical busy work when someone else will do it for you while giving you a great price in the process? The difference between wholesale and retail prices can be positively astounding with the sky being the limit as far as profits are concerned! Spend that time posting more items and finding better products instead and you will definitely see an increase in your bottom line and reduction of your stress level.

Minimal Risk

Using drop shippers carries almost zero financial risk on your part so you don't need to invest a large amount of money on something you are not familiar with. You carry no inventory and only pay the drop shippers when you yourself have been paid by a client.

Plus, few drop shippers ask members to pay a fee for selling their products. Those that do ask only a very small fee and that is probably because they know that they are really giving people a great deal by offering them the chance to buy their products at wholesale and resell them at retail. If you want to guarantee yourself a certain level of profit, simply set a minimum amount. Really, there is no down side here and everybody wins-especially you!

Drop shippers offer anyone the chance to make sound profits using Ebay auctions while at the same time taking care of the logistics involved in getting the product to the customer. Since the customer never knows that anyone else is involved in the transaction, you look great and very professional while boosting profits at the same time.

"What's Your Visitor's UPA?" by Michel Fortin

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of my students made me realize something important.

In fact, his point was so well made because he drove it home using the very idea he was illustrating. While his comment was general in nature, I realized how beautifully it applied to copy ... Particularly web copy.

But before I explain it to you, let me put the story in context so you can understand. In my Personal Selling class, we were discussing the natural human inclination to illogically and unconsciously assume that there is a parallel between a part and its whole -- even when the two are totally unrelated or irrelevant to each other.

I dub this human propensity as a UPA (or an "unconscious paralleled assumption"). For example, if you visit a website whose design is poor or unprofessional, or one hosted on a cheap or free server, people will naturally assume that the business or products behind it are the same ...

... Poor ... Unprofessional ... Cheap ... And so on.

The psychology behind UPAs is simply this: it's based on the fear of making bad decisions. Why? Because human nature dictates: we have a tendency to seek out the negative in whatever it is we are considering so to ensure that the decisions we are making are good ones.

For instance, when we are contemplating an offer on the web, we'll likely skim the website and the copy entirely (or at least a good portion of them) in order to make sure that the offer is legitimate. Is it telling us the truth? Is it trustworthy? Is it devoid of any "fine print?"

Anything contradictory in the slightest will push us away.

If something appears to be out of place for any reason (even if it's just a little thing like a typo, and goodness knows I'm guilty of making errors, too), we'll tend to leave the site quickly or in the very least feel uneasy.

I call this the "Ketchup Principle." It's the fact that you will remember the ketchup stain on a salesperson's tie more than you will his impeccable sales presentation or appearance. For more on this principle, click here.)

But appearances aside, UPAs, and especially poor ones, can also be the result of people not fully understanding the meaning of what is being communicated to them on a website. We can certainly read the text, understand the message and learn about the products.

But the question is, do we truly understand the meaning behind the message? In other words, does the message mean anything to us specifically? Is there a bad "meta-message" (i.e., a subtle nuance or indirect message that contradicts the sales pitch)?

Too many websites describe the products they are selling or use a language that only the sellers understand. More than likely, buyers in these cases do understand the content but they do not fully grasp what these products can do for them specifically.

Why? It's because the mind thinks in relative terms. Specifically, the brain processes information by visualizing what it's being told and comparing the given information to things it can relate to or understand.

Keep in mind, words are not messages. They are symbols.

OK, now that I've cleared that up, let's go back to the student's point mentioned at the beginning. At the end of my lecture, he turns to me, and then pulls out a chair and places it beside a class table. He asks, "Mike, what's the difference between this chair and table?" I said, "One is to sit on and the other is to write on." "No!" he shouted. "Not at all."

I was puzzled. "You're thinking in relative terms," he adds. "You are describing each individual product and its respective function, not the difference. The difference IS their function. Get it?"

Noticing that I was still perplexed, he continues: "What's the difference between a tennis ball and a soccer ball? Not that one is small and the other is big, or that one is yellow and the other is black-and-white, which is what most people will say. The difference is SIZE or COLOR."

I got it, now. And he made an excellent point. In this example, we are not really specifying the difference, we are only relating (or at best implying) the difference by describing or comparing the two.

As he explained so well, the mind thinks in relative terms.

That's why it's important to use picture words, comparisons, metaphors and analogies with your copy so that the mind of your readers can easily interpret and fully appreciate what is being communicated to them.

I call these UPWORDS (which stands for "Universal Picture Words or Relatable, Descriptive Sentences"). With the use of UPWORDS, people will understand and retain more. And of course, UPWORDS will also persuade visitors more effectively.

So, use analogies to which your audience can relate. Say that you're selling a computer backup device. To explain the main benefit of using a computer backup device, you can say this:

"This backup system will save you a lot of frustration and time if your computer ever malfunctions, which may lead to the loss of critical data you worked so hard to create and compile. It's like watching your favorite movie you waited for days to rent at your local video store, when suddenly your VCR dies and destroys the videotape, especially when an important scene in the movie was about to unfold. Now you have to return to the video store and perhaps wait again for the next time the movie becomes available. It's frustrating!"

Above all, think of your visitors, readers or prospects. Does your copy truly communicate in THEIR language? Does it explain the product you offer -- and particularly its benefits -- in relative terms?

If not, then the UPA you will create for your prospects will likely be one that will lead to disinterest, misunderstanding or frustration. They will unconsciously assume that there is a parallel between the quality of your message and the quality of your product let alone customer service!

Remember that the Internet lacks touch and feel. People cannot inspect products. Therefore, your copy has a great responsibility -- to replace the feelings your offer lacks and visitors want.

Ultimately, make sure the UPAs your visitors or prospects make are good ones. If you want them to assume that your business has good customer service and has a great product that's easy to use, then make sure your sales copy indirectly communicates the same.

"3 Drop-Shipping Secrets For Making More Money on eBay!" by Jason James

Dropshipping is a very profitable way to make money on the auction powerhouse eBay. People all over the world are creating home based businesses by using wholesalers, or also known as dropshippers, to make money on eBay.

Dropshipping is simply selling products for wholesale companies, sending them the address of the person who bought from you, and they ship the product to them.

This is an incredible opportunity, most times for the cost of a meal at a restaurant, to start a profitable eBay business.

However, because of the ease and profitability of using a dropship company there is extensive competition. eBay abounds with people using this home based business model to create a living for themselves. So, how do you get by the rest and shine as the one to buy from? There are three distinct secrets used by prominent eBay Powersellers.

1. eBay Dropshippers Know What's HOT!

The top income producers, or Powersellers, on eBay do their homework. They find out what is selling. But, not only that they research deeper to find out what's selling at the top prices.

Let's say for example, you have set up an account with a dropship company and have started an eBay seller account. Now what? Start looking at what's selling. Computers are always hot.

Go back to your dropshipper, look up what computers they offer, get some graphics and pictures, upload them to the product listing page on eBay and you're now selling computers.

Don't waste your time on items that only sell a few times at low prices.

2. eBay Dropshippers Know A Little Copywriting

The Internet, no matter what site you're on, is all about the written word. In sales, that means copywriting. Writing in order to reach a sale.

If you look at the most successful sellers they don't simply upload a picture and a few facts about the product.

They write to sell the product. Why? It was stated at the beginning of this article that the competition is plentiful. Everyone selling on eBay wants that person to buy their product not yours. So, the emphasis on copywriting, writing to instill an emotional desire to want your product, must be a priority.

Take some time to learn a little bit about good copywriting and how to construct a short, but exciting, sales letter.

3. eBay Dropshippers Live To Follow.

The absolute key to making money on eBay, with dropshippers or any other type of business model, is to follow up with your customers. Once they buy from you, that should not be the last contact you have with them.

Follow up with them. How are they liking the product? Is there anything else you can do for them? Have they seen the other auctions you have listed similar to the product they already bought?

A great way to stay in touch with your customers is to start collecting their email addresses, with their permission, and send them a special "sales flyer" of products you have listed, or other non-listed dropship items.

Want to make it big with eBay? Want to make big money with dropshipping? Follow these three Powerselling secrets today and watch your profits climb!

"How To Start Your Own Business and Travel First Class For Free " by Ralph Zuranski

Listen to the Interviews of the Leading Entrepreneurs in the World Who Are Heroes That Are Pursuing Their Dreams With Every Ounce of Strength and Faith.

Have you always dreamed of owning your own business, having the time and money to visit exotic locations and being able to fly first class?

If you love traveling, live in or near a city with a large national or international airport, and you have the kind of lifestyle that lets you pick up and go on a moment's notice, then you might want to think about starting your own business as an "air courier".

What is an air courier? It's a person who is hired to transport a specific item from one destination to another, within a specified deadline.

And, before you start imagining sinister men in trench coats carrying guns with silencers, and beautiful foreign women transporting secret microchips, let me reassure you that traveling as an air courier is 100% legal and aboveboard!

What you are asked to transport varies tremendously -- it can be almost anything -- legal documents such as letters or business contracts, children going from one country to another, medicine that was forgotten during a vacation, reports, computer disks, product prototypes -- the list is endless.

In fact, because of the "instant gratification" mindset today where we are used to information and communication that travels faster than the speed of light, air courier companies have seen their businesses grow tremendously over the last ten years. What that means for you is increased opportunities for free travel.

Who can become an air travel courier? Anyone who is over 18, holds a valid passport and who is in good health. It also helps if you're flexible and can pick up and travel on very short notice.

Why is this a wonderful opportunity?

When sending a package by air, the shipper has two options -- the first is to send the package as "cargo." Cargo travels alone (especially since the tragedy of 9/11), is shipped in bulk in large containers that usually aren't sent until the container is full, in order to maximize revenues for the airlines.

In addition, especially when cargo is sent overseas, there are sometimes long delays getting the package through customs, there are endless regulations that must be followed, inspections that must be passed, etc.

For the air courier companies, who have to make sure the package is not only delivered, but reaches the intended recipient as quickly as possible, these delays are unthinkable. (If they don't make their deadlines, then their competitors will. Think of the slogan from one such company..."when it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight...")

On the other hand, if the same item is considered "personal baggage" and is carried with a ticketed passenger, it arrives with the passenger, and generally passes through customs quickly, without all the delays.

Plus, a person can book a ticket for a specific flight arriving at their destination at a specific time -- not so for cargo. Which means that a shipment that could take days or weeks if it's classified as cargo, can take hours instead because it's classified as baggage.

Because very few of the air courier companies have the resources to employ full-time couriers, the industry itself has come to rely on freelance air couriers, which, even when having to pay someone to travel, and covering the cost of their airfare, is still a better ROI when compared against the paying full-time wages, holiday and sick pay, insurance and all of the other costs involved with having employees.

This is where you come in.

As an air courier, you are providing a valuable service in a growing market. And from the traveler's point of view, you might find yourself flying to Paris one day, and Hong Kong a week later!

Once you've been hired, the process is pretty simple: the company contacts you, to check your availability. When you confirm, they book the flight and let you know when to be at the airport. You're met at the airport by a representative, who gives you your ticket, a list of item or items you're transporting, and your baggage claim tickets. They'll usually even have checked you in, saving you many hassles. You get to sit in first class, and enjoy the flight. That's it. You don't have to contact the recipient in the city you're flying to, actually pick up the package on your way to the airport, or do anything other than be responsible for it going from one airport to another.

At your destination, you'll be met by another company representative, who will take the baggage claim tickets, and give you your return ticket.

How long do you get to stay? That depends on you and the air courier company. Sometimes your schedule will be tight -- you may only get hours between flights. Other times, you'll have a day or two. Obviously, as your reputation increases and the companies you work for know that they can rely on you, you have more room for negotiating.

There are several ways to get started. There are actually companies who recruit air couriers, and the fees for joining are usually nominal. The benefits of going through a certified company can be many. For example, they often provide information that it could take you a long time to figure out on your own. They also offer forums, newsletters and other resources to help you succeed. Because they have built a reputation, you might find it easier to get started in the business by working for one of them at first.

But, you can also find the information completely on your own, and start off freelancing. Look in the yellow pages for air couriers that are located near your local airport. Figure out where you'd like to travel to, and make a list of the locations they serve. Because there are companies who transport items both internationally or just within the states, where you travel is largely going to be a matter of personal choice.

Also, make sure that you investigate each company before applying with them. You want to make sure that they are a solid business, with a good reputation. Once you've narrowed down your choices, get on the phone, and find out what their application process is. Many companies today prefer that you apply online. Whatever the process is, make sure that you provide them with all the information they request.

Timely tip: After submitting your application, follow up with a thank-you letter, on your new "company" letterhead. Remind them of your availability, that you can accept short or no notice flights. Find a way to position yourself above that of the other couriers.

Once you've gone through the process the first time, you'll have a much better idea about which other companies you want to apply to and how to hone your interview skills. (So don't make your first application with the biggest company that you want to work for the most.) Obviously, if you limit yourself to one or two companies, you'll also be limiting the amount of work you'll get and the locations you can travel to.

Timely Tip: Put together a database of the companies you've applied to, the date you applied, and contact information. Follow up with the company regularly, but don't be a pest.

Once you've been hired, don't be surprised if you start getting calls within the first couple of weeks. There is a growing need for professional, responsible air couriers.

Here are some things to keep in mind when you start working:

1. Be professional. Remember that while shorts and flip flops may be comfortable for vacationers, you're working and representing the air courier company.

2. Often the only baggage you get to take with you is hand carried. Invest in microfiber clothing in basic colors, and learn to pack essentials only. If you do get to stay for longer than a few days, you can always pick up some essentials once you're there.

3. Give your own business card to the company representative in the country you travel to, and make sure that your email and voice mail information is included.

4. Apply to all the companies you've decided you want to work for, and then follow up with the ones that haven't contacted you regularly -- perhaps a polite letter or even a one-page newsletter that lists the latest on industry related news.

5. Stay organized. Don't over commit yourself, and try never to have to cancel a trip.

Being an air courier is a great way to make money and see the world. Bon Voyage!

"Part 3-- Who Wants To Be a Super Bad Guy: Overview of Who Wants To Be A Superhero, Episode Three" by Captain Biorhythm

In the next test, Stan checked their courage. "Courage...nerves of steel...is a superhero trait."

Stan says, "It's not easy to be a superhero." When he explains the contestants need to
cross the narrow wooden beam, to save the desperate woman on the roof, most candidates
freak out...look a little frightened.

Lemuria says she is afraid of heights. TyVeculus said he is not frightened because he goes
through six weeks of training to rescue people in the same situation as a fire fighter.
He divulges that he has seen people hurt and killed during the training, to add a little
more intensity to the challenge.

Saving the woman on the roof while blindfolded, with only a rope to guide them, was definitely
mentally, emotionally and physically challenging. It was a real test
of courage but not well-being. The wood beam the crossed was secretly placed on the roof.
The farthest they could fall was a few inches. Still, with a blowing fan held by Dark Enforcer
and the previous psychological programming, most believed they were perched above a deep chasm.
The use of the twin sisters really was a slick part of the major deception.

When Stan gives them the final task of the evening, he tells them to share with him who they
feel does not deserve to be a superhero. The big clue is that they are encouraged to do this in a
superhero manner. They must justify why they think the person is not superhero material.

Creature says she sees a room full of superheroes. She does not know what she is doing there.
She says she should be taken off the show. She does not feel like a superhero. She wonders
why she is not folding under the pressure but she wants to be a superhero anyway.

Major Victory says he should be eliminated and praises all the others.

TyVeculus says Lemuria lacks self-control, that she does not know when to give up.
She needs to understand her limitations because she jeopardizes everyone else.

Feedback feels like he is inhibiting everyone's ability to enjoy the experience. He
says he should be eliminated.

Lemuria says everyone has some qualities that she agrees with and some she doesn't.
She loves everyone. She volunteers to leave. Her intentions seemed a little contrived,
like she knew this was part of the test but not heart-felt.

Fat Momma does not want to make Stan's decision for him. She says that Feedback is so
hard on himself she is afraid he will snap. So for his own good, she recommends Feedback.

Stan called Fat Momma and TyVeculus onto the carpet because they pointed fingers
at other heroes. Stan believes real superheroes are willing to take the bullet
for their fellow superheroes. Self-sacrifice is an inherent part of being a real superhero.

Stan eliminated TyVeculus because he was unwilling to sacrifice himself for the others.
Later, in the post show interview, he agreed that he did not choose Lemuria for the right reason.
Their personalities clashed big time and there was a certain amount of personal animosity.

Fat Momma was not eliminated because she had true compassion for Feedback. She was really concerned about
his well-being and believed she was doing the right thing. And, by the way, she wants to be the winner
and would not jeopardize her goal. This decision placed her in a true dilemma.

Fat Momma is one of the most emotional of the candidates. She feels her spirit is broken because of the
elimination of TyVeculus, who helped and encouraged her so much. She believes Lemuria did not sacrifice
herself for the right reason. They butted heads earlier in the show when they claimed they would both
be the winner.

Lemuria may be way to conniving and disingenuous to win. She says Stan will have to do a lot more to outsmart her.

All the other superheroes were sad to see TyVeculus. He was one of the most liked candidates but failed to
rescue the little girl, lied about how much he liked his costume and divulged his real name. In his case
four strikes and you are out!

Next week should be interesting as the numbers continue to dwindle.

"eBay: A virtual land of opportunity" by Jason James

When you first take a quick glance, the ebay opportunities website looks like this big, complicated, and confusing animal that probably takes a seasoned Internet veteran to master. But that couldn't be further from the truth. Ebay opportunities exist for all skill levels.

Of course ebay is always growing and constantly improving but regardless of these endless changes, the basics can always be found and there will always be the same old ebay opportunities for you to take advantage of as both a seller and a buyer. So why do so many people look for ebay opportunities at this website? The answer is simple; because there are more computers sold on ebay than anywhere else. There are more cars sold on ebay than anywhere else. There are more toys sold on ebay than anywhere else. Shall I go on? The list of ebay opportunities goes on and on into any market that you can think of.

Deciding on which of the ebay opportunities to take advantage of is probably the hardest step in the process. Depending on whether you are buying or selling, there are plenty of ebay opportunities available to you.

Lets take 'automotive' for example. You might think that no such ebay opportunities exist for such a commonly person-to-person transaction - wrong! In fact, there is an entire ebay category dedicated to automobiles and auto parts. Both new and used cars are hot ebay opportunities now more than ever before.

We hope that this brief description of what awaits you at ebay has you excited to look for great deals or great sales to take advantage of.

"Part 2-- Who Wants To Be a Super Bad Guy: Overview of Who Wants To Be A Superhero, Episode Three" by Captain Biorhythm

The next big test was whether anyone would reveal their secret identity to Stan's restaurant plants...a
good looking waitress and waiter. The Number One Rule of being a Superhero is, "Never divulge your secret identity."

If people know your secret identity, how can you be a superhero. Your entire family is in danger
as well as your friends because villains will know who to target to destroy your life.

Superheroes and their secret identity allows them to express the two personalities that are
at war in every person's brain.Psychologists call it the right and left brain hemispheres.
The creator of the "Inner Game Of Tennis" Tim Gallwey called it "the Self One" and "the Self Two."

Superheroes and average people can achieve their greatest performance in every area of life
if they can integrate their brain hemispheres. The fastest way I know of is using both hands and clasping your hands together during extreme joy or sorrow. This activity immediately links your brain hemispheres together. You become a balanced being...a bioman or biowoman.

Under questioning, Feedback and Fat Momma were the only ones who did not reveal their true identities.

Creature told the cute waiter her real name first, without the waiter even asking. She thought he was sexy.

Major Victory told the waitress his real name. Later when he was confronted with the video of his dastardly deed, he labeled himself "Major Dumb Ass!"

Fat Momma did not give up her real name. In fact she stayed in character and told the waiter she goes around fighting real bullies. Now that takes guts to not give into social pressure to be just like everyone else, dress the same way and not make any waves.

Monkeywoman told the waiter her name was "AKA Mary." She offered up her secret identity without
even being asked. She also promoted acting websites and revealed she was an actress.

This resulted in her immediate expulsion when Stan confronted her.

She had originally told Stan she was a real estate investor. She lied because she wanted
to promote her acting career. She begged not to be eliminated but Stan would not relent.
She said, "I will miss everyone, but Monkeywoman will live on...somewhere." I guess she
is hoping to land a big fat acting contract for her exposure as a lying superhero.

Stan says, "Honesty is the number one trait of a Superhero. You need to be able to take
a Superhero's word to the bank."

"Your Real Goldmine Is Your Customer" by Ted Nicholas

Listen to the Interviews of the Leading Entrepreneurs in the World Who Are Heroes That Are Pursuing Their Dreams With Every Ounce of Strength and Faith.

The secret to success, in life and in business,
is to work hard at the margin. Relentlessly. Those
little marginal extra efforts will inevitably grow into
something big. Bill Bonner

''God is in the details''

What is your most valuable business asset?

What about your: Inventory? Equipment? Cash? Real Estate? Special process?
A Patent or Trademark? Employees?

The above are the answers most given by owners and company executives. But if
you answered any of the above you are...

Wrong!

The number one asset in any business is--

YOUR CUSTOMERS!

You can survive the loss of any business asset except your customers. Every
asset you have but one can be replaced. You would be inconvenienced and
possibly lose a lot of money. But, with your customer list intact, overnight
you could start over again.

It's truly amazing how few entrepreneurs fully appreciate the value of their
customer list. A relatively small percentage consistently act toward building
their database. And nurturing it.

It will cost you 5 to 10 times as much money to attract a new customer than to
sell to an existing one. Once fully understood, you can act towards
multiplying your success many-fold.

Here is the fastest ticket I know toward building a business that will provide
you great wealth…

Develop a strategy that will build a database of your best prospects. And, of
course, your customers. And contact them regularly.

Assuming those who have done business with you are pleased with their original
purchase, people who have bought something from you are your best prospects for
future purchases.

Your main business goal should be to create a customer list of happy customers.
Many of them will become raving fans who will recommend you to others. You
then can sell them a continuous flow of related products and experience
continuous growth and prosperity.

However, you have to start from scratch if you don't have a database now. The
first major task of new businesses and/or new products which have new markets
is to find interested prospects.

Clearly, you need a large enough group of people who have expressed some
interest in what you have to offer. You can sell to them directly. Or
contact them to visit your place of business.

In this issue I will reveal some strategies that will help you build your
database whether or not you now have a single customer.

You can make it complicated. But, as with all great truths, creating and
mining your database is basically simple.

It's shocking but true. Many--perhaps most--entrepreneurs have an incomplete,
sloppy, or even no database whatsoever of their customers and prospects.

Therefore, potential profit which is lost by not exploiting this opportunity
is truly staggering.

I view it this way. Whenever I think about new products or services in any
field, the customer database is my very first consideration. I want to be
very clear on how many people I have to whom I can send a regular flow of
sales messages.

Who are your key contacts?

For businesses with a limited number of prospective customers who can be
readily identified, here is the process. You simply create what I call
a ''key contact'' list.

You then contact this database. I recommend at least once a month. I've found
unless you are in regular communication with your customers and prospects,
they tend to forget about you. And rather quickly. The old saying ''out of
sight, out of mind'' is true.

You should ideally use a combination of personal contact formats. These can
include letters (through the post office or e-mail), postcards, telephone
contacts, and personal visits.

How do you create a prospect database when you are starting out?

Recently my son David, who is starting a new business, asked for my advice.
His proposed new product is a book he is writing. The audience is wannabe
musicians--music lovers who play an instrument and want to break into paid
''gigs'' to make money.

I recommended that David prepare a special report which contains proven and
valuable information to the aspiring musician. It would be offered free,
mostly on the Internet and also on mailing lists of music instrument buyers
and students.

The Special Report title (which is very important) would be something like:

Famous professional musicians reveal…

The 7 Most Important Secrets Which Can
Take You From Jam Sessions In Your Basement
To Highly Paid Gigs!

Those who requested the Free Report would then be offered the book, of course
on a paid basis. The book would contain the advice David and several well-
known professional musicians have for aspiring musicians.

Think the chances are good for the success of such a project?

You bet!

Tip: One key component to many successful database (mailing list) building
programs is the use of a valuable free gift. A well-chosen gift. If the gift
is really valuable, as it should be, psychologically your client often feels a
special type of obligation to do business with you as a form of reciprocation.

Examples of clients with database goldmines

Internet information marketer: Joel Christopher is a young, successful
Internet marketer (website: www.MasterListBuilder.com).

His strategy is to help his clients fill the biggest challenge of every
successful Internet marketer--how to build an enthusiastic opt-in list. He
offers seminars, books and tapes which deal with this topic. In a little
over a year he built his mailing list to over 110,000 people.

Art Gallery: Here is a successful regional business with just 757 art-
collecting customers on its database. The business prospers by sending a
letter, postcard, or e-mail each month inviting its customers and prospects
to its gallery. New artists as well as ''art clearance'' sales are featured.
When new prospects are brought as guests, they are asked to provide contact
information.

Restaurant: This highly successful Italian bistro invites each customer that
enters its door a free gift just for providing contact information. Gifts
successfully used are wine and brandy glasses, recipe books, and discount
vouchers. The mail list number is now over 20,000. Customers are invited
regularly to special ''invitation only'' dinners which are always fully
booked. I helped this great chef create a special individual voice (very
important) for all his communications.

These techniques are simple to plan and implement. Yet, not one in 1,000
restaurants does anything resembling this type of marketing.

Department Store: This family-run store located in the United Kingdom is
thriving, racking up over $100,000,000 in sales.

Of course, one of the biggest challenges in every business is to differentiate
itself from competitors, to create its own Unique Selling Proposition (USP).

In this case we did it with: (a) a new ''voice''; (b) in the inimitable style
and vocabulary of the department store founder; and (c) fantastic customer
service and, most importantly, the use of free gifts to build its mailing
list. Every single customer is asked, ''Would you like to join our mailing
list and be the first to receive news about special sales and other
information?'' The mailing list number is now over 250,000 customers.

The mailings, brochures, and offers from this company are producing truly
outstanding results--over 15% of sales.

Vitamin Supplements: This European company markets its products primarily
through direct consumer mailings. Formed in 1997 with zero capital, sales
currently exceed $50,000,000 and is highly profitable. The mailing list size
of customers and prospects is approximately 165,000. A website will soon be
added to help boost its database and revenues.

Equipment Supplier: This company sells high-priced specialized equipment, a
relatively small target market of just 357 existing and prospective customers.
Ninety percent of its sales arise from just 65 of its database. The marketing
strategy is relatively simple and inexpensive. Each month a postcard, letter,
e-mail, phone call or personal visit is made with each person on the list.
This strategy produces a steady and profitable stream of new business.

The above examples are but a few of the organizations I've worked with.

In each example, the result of regular contacts, each one containing an
interesting and informative sales message, generates a constant flow of new
business.

Most entrepreneurs do not contact customers often enough. I didn't myself
for several years.

Why?

Frankly, I was so good at getting new customers by simply writing new ads and
mailings. Without realizing it I was practically ignoring existing customers.

In hindsight I left a lot of money on the table. But the biggest losers were
my customers who didn’t receive enough important information which could have
helped them more than I was able to do with a few contacts.

I used to be concerned about contacting my database too often. But this is a
fallacy. Don't worry about offending customers with too many contacts. Indeed,
properly done your customers will love you for keeping them informed with
product and service information, special offers, as well as new developments
in your field.

Without a doubt, you will own a goldmine by building your own database that is
carefully developed and nurtured.

Kind regards,

"Part 1-- Who Wants To Be a Super Bad Guy: Overview of Who Wants To Be A Superhero, Episode Three" by Captain Biorhythm

Without super villains, superheroes have a hard time defining who they are, what they believe and what they do and why they are doing it. Batman needed the Joker, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, the Joker, Catwoman and all the other villains to have a purpose and a reason to exist. Each villain required a different approach, physically, emotionally and intellectually.

The development of the Dark Enforcer character appears to be a part of Stan's script. It is humorous to see the Dark Enforcer absorb the light and spread darkness.

Dark Enforcer, as the consummate villain, blames others for his problems and refuses to accept the responsibility for his own actions. It seems villains see themselves as the good guys. They are able to justify anything they do because they are fighting against those they perceive as bad. Any action is okay because the end result always justifies the means from their warped perspective.

The reactions of the other contestants were very interesting after Dark Enforcer said none of them deserve to be on the show and they are all jokes. He accused all of them for attacking him. He said he would not be anyone's punching bag. His final warning was, "Watch your backs."

Feedback said, "I will go through anything to win."

Dark Enforcer tells him, "You are going to go down."

Tyveculus felt betrayed.

Stan warned everyone that, "Twists and turns are around every corner. Everyone needs to be on their game. Nothing will be as it appears."

The passions heated up after the revelation of Dark Enforcer's betrayal. Lemuria told Fat Momma that she wants to be the winner and for her to "Kiss my brown ass." This does not appear to be superhero comportment. Will Lemuria be the female super villain "Airumel (Lemuria spelled backward)?" She looks like a good match for Dark Enforcer. They appear to hate each other.

Fat Momma told everyone she wants to be friends with each superhero candidate even when they don't win. She believes she will be the winner but also wants to have good relationships with all those who did not make the final cut.

"Momentum: Why Statues Never Win Foot-Races, And How Motion Leads to E-Motion... Which Leads to Action" by David Garfinkel

Consider the humble hoola-hoop.

Sitting in a garage by itself, it's little more than than a large ring of plastic.

Put around the waist of a person who's willing to set it in motion, the hoola-hoop is a wonder to behold.

Just as long as...

... the hoola-hoop wearer keeps moving in the direction that makes the hoola-hoop spin.

So it is with copy. Have you ever thought about it?

Most people don't. That is why their copy is so perfectly clear... and explanatory... and dull.

Dull doesn't do it... not when you're trying to get prospects to take action, that is.

Here's a tip you may have never fully realized before:

Good copy is not: ... static... lethargic... motionless.

No. Good copy is: ... dynamic... energetic... kinetic.

In simple words, that means copy is in motion.

It starts in motion... and because it keeps going, right to the last word, it has momentum.

When people perceive or imagine motion, they get emotional. Think movies. Think a rousing, stemwinder speaker. Think of a large bear coming out of nowhere, running straight towards you.

Emotion: Fear

Motion: Running to safety

You don't need to scare people like a bear to get them emotional and prompt them to action. But you are well advised to get them to picture motion in order to emotionally motivate them to take action.

Here are some ways:

* write descriptive language to get your prospect to imagine using your product or service.

* talk about the actions taken by you, your company, or your client (if you're writing copy for someone else) that were necessary to bring the product or service to market

* ask the prospect to take the specific action you want them to take

Notice I do this, at the end of every post on this blog, because the action I want you to take is to subscribe to my World Copywriting Newsletter.

I write, "To subscribe, click here."

Does it work?

Of course!

But not just because I ask for action. The other reason it works is because I follow the same principles myself that I just outlined for you.

Remember: If you can keep their brains in motion, their hearts and fingers will follow.

"Part Four: Change the World By Teaching Young People To Discover Their Own Heroic Potential" by Ralph Zuranski

This is Part Four of the article appeared in the Coronado Eagle-Journal Newspaper on August 9, 2006

The only effective solutions to social problems are those
created by the residents who are intimately involved and
understand what is needed…community activitism. The media is
finally delivering uplifting news about good people making a
positive difference in the lives of their neighbors.

After 13 years, the “In Search Of Heroes Program” official
“Heroes-In-Training Course” will be available in September
2006 in Coronado. Some of the original visionaries have
volunteered to take program and community to the next level
of success.

After four years of interviewing over 40 of the richest and
most successful entrepreneurial heroes, Ralph discovered
that Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” was the one most
important book that helped them achieve their dreams. Ralph
purchased the book and read it cover to cover. He searched
for and found a “public domain” copy that he updated and
transformed into a superlearning extravaganza.

Napoleon Hill said Andrew Carnegie believed that if young
people were taught his secrets, their time in school would
be cut in half. Having a community “Master Mind” group is
the most powerful force for creating incredible success.

The eighteen week course will involve a complete reading of
the book with the help of a glorious PowerPoint presentation
using beautiful scenes from nature and physics. It will be
free and open to Coronado residents, students and their
family members. Space will be limited. Sign up instructions
will appear in the Eagle-Journal in August.

Come learn the two secrets that were never revealed in the
“Think and Grow Rich” books that are currently available on
the market. These two secrets are so mind-boggling and
earth-shattering…no wonder they were surgically removed for
the printed versions.

Humanity hangs in the balance. Come learn why spreading
“good news” and focusing on positive thoughts is more
important now than ever before. If we don’t take Napoleon
Hill’s secret advice, your dreams may never become reality.

Buying items by the pallet to resell to the ebay marketplace" by Jason James

Some product suppliers will purchase salvaged merchandise that is in such large quantities that they resell the items to you by the pallet that you can take and flood the ebay marketplace with. This type of transaction is often made by a 'liquidator' and you can go online to fine one nearest you.

This may not be the most secure way to find quality products to resell to the ebay marketplace but if you are willing to take the risk then it just may be worth it. Often times you are rolling the dice when buying a pallet full of stuff because there is no guarantee of what quality is inside.

While you may loose money by selling some of those items to the ebay marketplace, you might also make that money back with other products from your pallets. The key is to make sure that the majority of stock from the liquidator has what you want to sell to the ebay marketplace. This can only be done by working with one supplier for a few rounds and properly checking them out.

Here are a few tips of things to check out when looking for a liquidator:

1. Find out if they are selling to mostly flea markets. If this is the case then you may not want to buy these pallets because the quality may not exist. The ebay marketplace is looking for both quantity and quality.

2. Find out how long the liquidator has been in business. Find out exactly where he gets his products from. If the company does not want to reveal its sources then you may not want to purchase these pallets for resell to the ebay marketplace.

3. Last but not least, check for references. This is an obvious step in deciding to work with most anybody but a lot of people ignore it.

"Part Three: Change the World By Teaching Young People To Discover Their Own Heroic Potential" by Ralph Zuranski

This is Part Three of the article appeared in the Coronado Eagle-Journal Newspaper on August 9, 2006

Comic book writers, artists and publishers were focusing on
strong, positive, powerful messages that encourage honesty,

innovation and perserverance. The Sci Fi TV Channel teamed
up with Nash Entertainment to produce a reality show, “Who
Wants To Be A Superhero?” The focus is on real humans doing
good things for others and working to become a better
person.

The ABC Family channel is producing a TV series named,
“Fallen,” based on the hit books by Tom Sniegoski. It is a
classic battle of good versus evil that chronicles the
pehnomenal journey of an 18-year old who struggles to come
to terms with his newly discovered identity. He is drawn
into a world where angels---good and evil---walk among us.

Durning the panel, Paul Wesley, shared how angels saved his
life right before a car crash. He woke up from a deep sleep
and felt impelled to put on his seat belt. 5 minutes later,
his friend lost control and the car rolled 8 times. He
believes that if his guardian angel had not intervened, he
would have died in the wreck.

Deepak Chopra and his son Gotham, Grant Morrison and Larry
Lieberman in their comic book series “Virgin” promoted the
idea superheroes should inspire people to evolve to the next
level of peace and spirituality. Deepak and Grant, in their
panel discussion, stated that the new generation of heroes
should exhibit the qualities of love, passion, courage,
compassion, self-lessness, emotional stablility, creativity
and intuition. They should be able to transform themselves
and others in a good way, have the power of intention and
transcend their own weaknesses.

NBC-Universal Studio is producing “Heroes,” an epic drama
that tells the stories of the lives of ordinary people who
discover they possess extraordinary abilities. Their stories
focus on important social issues like drug addiction,
fractured families and overcoming the evil that is working
to destroy our world.

The TV programs and movies like Batman, Superman, Spiderman,
the X-Men are sending a message of courage and social
responsibility. The TV, movie studios and comic artists,
writers and publishers are to be applauded in their efforts
to inspire young people to make a positive difference in
their local communities.

"Part Two: Change the World By Teaching Young People To Discover Their Own Heroic Potential" by Ralph Zuranski

This is Part Two of the article appeared in the Coronado Eagle-Journal Newspaper on August 9, 2006

Laura Neale actually was one of the winners. Her character
was named “Flex.” She proved to be a real heroine after her
back was horribly broken when her car was hit by a drunk
driver at the intersection that was the epicenter of the
Northridge Earthquake at 4:30 am, on January 17, 1994.

After 12 hours of surgery to place two steel rods on either
side of her spine, she was placed in a body cast and
required to walk one hour each day without any pain
medication. A couple weeks later, Laura appeared at the
“Good Guys Comic Book Kickoff at Mile High comic store on
November 27th. She missed the gala event at “Disneyland” the
day before because of the severe pain, but refused to stay
home when she knew her fans were expeciting “Flex” to sign
autographs.

A couple of months later, while still in her body cast,
Laura’s family were terrified by the Northridge Earthquake,
but survived without serious injury. As TVs flew across the
room and dressers toppled over, spilling the clothes on the
floor, Laura was not concerned about herself…only her
family.

The Coronado journalism and multi-media were so impressed
with this family’s triumph over their incredible ordeals,
they interviewed the entire family at Peohe’s Restaurant.
Jason Bean from Coronado Cable Vision was kind enough to
videotape the entire interview. The questions posed by the
students were thoughtful and often times difficult. The
answers were emotional and in many cases astounding.

Many of the students experienced an epiphany. They realized
the real heroes are family members, next door neighbors,
teachers, coaches, spiritual leaders and often young people
their own age. Their interviews of the stars of Baywatch and
Jonathan Frakes, Commander Riker of Star Trek the Next
Generation, clearly proved this point.

Gregory Alan Williams, a African American policeman on
Baywatch and real life hero, saved a man’s life during the
LA Riots. He really nailed the definition of a hero when he
said, “There is a little bit of good in the worst of us.
There is a little bit of bad in the best of us. When we
reach out to help someone else, in that moment, we are
heroes. The real heroes are those who help others quietly,
without any fanfare or publicity, every day of their lives.”

Ralph Zuranski and Captain Biorhythm were both encouraged by
what they discovered the the San Diego Comic Convention. It
was now a family event governed by “PG Standards…safe and
enjoyable for the entire family.

Even the US Post Office along with DC Comics jumped on the
superhero bandwagon with the first issue of superhero
stamps. Even Mayor Sanders showed up for the official
unveiling of the gorgeous stamp collection.
